AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Indeed. Thats the one thing I do like about the business ID, I get to manage my buyers post dispatch. Ive had 2 buyers message today asking if I had actually posted their item (I had to hold my fingers back from a sarcastic response 😅) and told both (who paid on 9th Oct) that their items were mailed 10th Oct but as it was sent 2nd class letter, then it is taking longer to arrive. I do wish ebay would be more realistic with their EDD especially with alternate day deliveries. 2nd class letters are taking approx 5 working days to arrive at minimum right now although there are exceptions

Somewhere in the 'Give a Refund' process there should be a clear and obvious warning not to refund for a lost or damaged delivery via SD, but instead ask the buyer to open a case (with an explanation). Too much to ask, I suppose.

I did what you suggested in your post and it was the shortest list I've ever created.
The pros column had zero and the cons column had one in it and that was Simple Delivery.
I agree that I dread to think how many other things I could have put in the cons column.

I have looked into selling to the US but even that thought has been squashed because of Simple Delivery.
I've brought 4 things in the last 2 weeks from the US.
Everything was going great. USPS was used in the US. Then DHL was used to get the first package to the UK. Then it all went downhill as the package is now with Evri.
I do not want Evri involved in any part of a sale I make.
I wonder how that will go down with RM that Evri are that heavily favoured.

Evri get the extra business i guess and as long as they aren't involved if I chose to use RM it wouldn't bother me.
I can honestly see there being some major headaches when the Christmas season post kicks in.
Especially for private sellers having to use Simple Delivery.

Does it not apply on custom postage?
wont apply to simple delivery because eBay set the price of that (and their cut I assume is built in) but if they aren’t applying it to custom postage I’m surprised we aren’t seeing issues like 99p items and £8.00 postage to reduce the fees.

That's because eBay dictate the postage cost and choose the label for the transaction without input from either seller or buyer (unless buyer upgrades to express instead of standard). And besides, eBay are making a killing on these labels - I had to pay £5.15 for a label (medium parcel? But it would have been cheaper via InPost) and they probably only paid about £1.50 for it. I'm only using Simple Delivery on this occasion because it is light bulbs and if they get smashed then I'll be covered by eBay.

Are you sure that you would be covered by Ebays policy?? Looking at their Terms and Conditions It appears that there is a LOT of stuff that isn't covered. I think Glass is one??

Well if light bulbs aren't actually covered then why are ebay offering Simple Delivery with a guarantee on loss or damage? The whole point of Simple Delivery is that eBay will cough up if an item gets lost or damaged, and I wasn't given the option for custom postage!
Surely if an item wasn't covered by SD, the option for custom postage would be there?
In that case, do I cancel the SD label (it was free post anyway) and just use whoever is cheaper out of InPost/Evri/Yodel?

Apparently it *is* covered under S.D. 👍
I spent a lot of time worrying about the 'excluded from compensation' list, but ebay have now been pretty clear that their S.D. T's and C's take precedence over the carriers T's and C's. (which is where the excluded lists lurk.)
As long as your item is accepted by S.D., it'll be covered by S.D.
(it took a while for ebay to get that in straight English in the T's and C's, but it got there in the end....)
Personally I don't trust ebay any further than I can spit 'em, but so far it seems to be working, PROVIDED the buyer chooses the correct reason for a refund . i.e. 'ARRIVED damaged '(or words to that effect)
If the buyer picks 'not as described' , the seller may have a problem.....

"If the buyer picks 'not as described' , the seller may have a problem....."
And the scary thing is that ebay sides with the buyer even when they clearly haven't got a case. I'm sure many of us will remember the incident a couple of months ago where someone had sold a £400+ gas cooker which was clearly described as such. The buyer inspected it when he came to collect it, and then later that day claimed it was not as described and they'd wanted electric. It was a clear case of either a scam or buyer's remorse, but ebay in their wisdom decided to side with the buyer. It was only after a huge fuss (and a great deal of stress for the seller) that eventually ebay said that the seller could keep the money AND they let the buyer keep the cooker. There's a moral there for buyers everywhere, if they're that way inclined. It really is a stain on ebay's ethical compass.
