NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

...of course she didn't. She knows perfectly well it doesn't work like this.

SD may be new, but the various RM options are not new, and have been around for years. She knows she can't add stamps to parcels with that type of label. That's why it's so obvious your post simply wasn't true.

@wiganyankeeron

As @vinylscot has said and others you can’t add postage stamps to a prepaid label.

Simple search brings up these results.

No, you cannot typically add stamps to a Royal Mail prepaid label at a Post Office counter. Royal Mail's system is designed to use either prepaid labels or stamps, not a combination of both. If you need to pay for additional postage, you will need to use a different method, such as purchasing a new prepaid label or using additional stamps.
  • Prepaid labels:
These are purchased online or at a Customer Service Point (CSP) and are designed to be used as the sole form of postage.

  • Stamps:
These are purchased separately and can be used on their own or in combination to cover the necessary postage.

  • Combining the two:
While it might seem logical to combine a prepaid label with additional stamps, Royal Mail's system is not designed for this and will not accept it.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If Ebay or any another auction site  that uses BDF and delayed  payment  etc  advertised the fact that as a seller you actually send a package before you receive payment and as the postage is not purchased by the seller you are not directly insured would anyone in their right mind think that was how anything should be sold .  As that in essence is the model they are using .

When basic advice  will always say  confirm payment before parting wit you valuables.

Selling buyer protection is a conn as the buyer is already covered by insurance/ compensation  that Ebay insist the buyer purchase. The thing that is genuinely missing is seller protection

You can only sell under this  set-up if you have total trust in those who run the site . If you don't then the advice has to be to sell elsewhere . Who still trust's Ebay now ?

If I ever sell on Ebay again it I would think twice on any item of value I.E £50 +  as it the high value items that are more likely to lead to protracted disputes etc .

Someone made a post about the same prob earlier on, sounded like a sign in ebay glitch. I'v had the same login prob over the last few days but it seems to sort itself out.

Have you tried a different browser to see it makes any difference. Edge is just pants these days.

It's still hit and miss.

If you upload a couple of pics they might get through.

If you're uploading hundreds, half will fail.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I gave up selling to overseas buyers when the Global Shipping Programme came in, and I delisted all my items at the end of March owing to their buyer protection surcharges and controlled postage hikes and I now just have a couple of low value  letter rate items listed again for the moment. I have no intention of paying eBay’s premium shipping prices or using Evri, ever, and have instead listed all my items in a ‘boot sale’ section of my Greater London bus map website.

I don't accept that the contents of your post were entirely accurate.

At best, there seems to have been some misunderstanding, and I would attribute that to you, rather than to the PO staff, who are all well aware of SD and the other "issue" you brought up.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So what IS the process for a buyer to reclaim from Ebay the excess overpaid postage for an incorrect (overcharged) label under Simple Delivery?

Is there one and has anyone successfully done this?

Or is it money lost forever to be reflected in poor feedback to an unwitting seller?

You can pontificate all you want about the rights and wrongs. BUT I'm
telling you that's what I have been told by two local Post Offices and I was
shown a parcel by the Postmistress a couple of weeks ago When I posted
exactly the same thing. (I wish I had taken a photograph of it).. With a pre
paid label and Stamps attached to bring it up to its value
