AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I think that's how it would work .
My concern would be does the seller still have any input to this process or will Ebay just make a decision
I always had returns switched off as everything I sold was sold as seen 2nd hand etc , but on my listing I always advised the buyer to contact me if any issues and as I managed it it worked quite fairly and amicably .
If the issue was down to me then I would refund the buyers return postage . Often by sending a paypal payment on reciept , however the last time I did let Ebay supply the seller with a label and then bill me . Which worked ok .
I did see a post where some said Ebay had made a 50% buyer discount because of obvious courier damage but there are going to be issues where the package has is intact and appears undamaged

Really, if you think about it for just a second, you'll realise that there is no way eBay should need to return the postage amount if a seller sends an item which is later the subject of an INAD claim.
That would be like expecting the post office to give you back the money you paid to send the parcel, if you were operating under the old system.

Yeah i still expect there will be lots of unhappy sellers who disagree with ebay's bias to nearly always siding with the buyer - that's basically hardcoded into the MBG.
I have returns switched on as it offers the buyers a wider choice of return reasons and some of them like change of mind means they pay the return postage which is better than them unfairly selecting INAD and giving me all the cost.

As previously noted sellers will want to pay careful attention to the section on returns - eBay says the seller may be responsible for refunding the buyer the original shipping costs, even though that shipping amount is not paid to the seller.
What happens if the buyer wants to return an item?
Should the buyer request a return, you may be responsible for refunding the buyer any outbound delivery costs for the label provided to you (including for express delivery), in addition to the item cost. See 'How to handle a return request as a seller' for more information.
There are a few reasons SD has stopped me selling, but this is the main one.

"However, this slide showing Q2 2025 guidance shows eBay is not likely to back down on any of those changes as they've clearly set expectations that the Buyer Protection Fee and Simple Delivery will meaningfully contribute to achieving 1-3% Revenue growth."
Apart from the revenue growth being pretty marginal , has some from Ebay just stated that BPF is source of revenue growth !
I assume Jamie is Ianone but who is Steve ? I would say Ebay UK are very much operating under strict orders , and probably quite uncomfortable with it
Their attitude is frustrating but it is good to see articles like this . I would like to hope Q2 will be very embarrassing for Steve and Jamie giving what they just said . I am sitting tight until Q3 🙂

You’d think so, but apparently not 🫤

SD is a Proper thought through SCAM, there is no other words to discribe it.
I have lost all my post and Ebay are not giving it back. Ebay have become a unfair platform. Sell at your own risk.

Royal Mails free collection service has come to an end. 30p per item now. Add that to SD and we are more than doomed.

Thankyou for taking the time to go through this for us 🙏🏼

Are you an Advisor for Ebay?

Everything ebay is doing makes perfect sense when you look at it through the lens of selling "innovations" (in revenue streams) to institutional investors to prevent ebay stock being rated "sell" rather than the current "hold". Making the site better as an auction platform in which buyers buy and sellers sell doesn't enter into the equation.

I'm still waiting to see the 'significant value for customers' as it looks like they have just added a margin to postage, limited people's choices to make things difficult, added tracking to large letter items to make them uneconomic, made things complicated and taken everyone for granted penalising then for expressing a carrier choice after recently offending them with the naming of the protection fee
The other place is exploding in popularity. This is damaging to shareholders if people reasonably conclude thst buying and selling on ebay is generally not worth it anymore.

there was no need to change Ebay when it was working perfectly before.

Support to your posting comment would fill a football stadium.

Good posting akemp.
Please don’t expect confirmation of any “significant value to customers” from eBay … Their total lack of updated news etc leaves a lot to be desired.

"Are you an Advisor for Ebay?"
It's just a different "ranking", like yours is "Engager" and mine in "Conversationalist". You can see how ebay allocates the ranks at this link
02-05-2025 8:42 AM
Given the names given to the ranks, I have always found this bit disturbing:
"*It is important to note that ranks are based off community activity alone and are not based on eBay buying or selling activity. The ranks use community actions and do not take levels of eBay knowledge into account."
My bold.

Yes that's absolutlely correct.
That is the whole end point of 'Ensh**ification'. The process gradually puts all the positive emphasis on the shareholders of the company.
The customers, users, staff and even advertisers (who are vital on an online site) are of no consequence , if whatever change is happening can be 'spun' to make the share price increase by a fraction of a point.
It's strange to us 'normal' people that peeing off your 'base' users and customers (the people who make the actual money) doesn't seem to matter to the people who use money to make money. (i.e. shareholders, investment bankers, stock-market gamblers etc..)
They're in it to make 'fast' money not keep a business running..☹️

And I thought C2C was a railway company 🙂
To me they are very much labouring under the intention that they actually understand their own core business and are just spouting b******Ks that impresses other people who don't understand Ebay's core business either .
The brick wall of reality will be the acid test , and if they don't remove the blinkers they will hit that wall with some force .
The underlying issues that restrict Ebays current profitability will be the same issues that strangle their current strategy . You can never fix anything if all you do is create new problems , and that is what they are doing .
I only sell on Ebay as it offers the best return for what I want to sell and everything they are doing reduces that value for me , which directly contradicts what they are spouting . Making something "easier" or more "simple" doesn't mean better value . I am currently buying stuff from VTD as its dirt cheap !
At the end of the day, when the dust settles there will still be a niche market for on-line auctions for Ebay or other interested parties to exploit .

Indeed, people with six & seven figure pay packets who's only experience of auctions is Bonhams 😆
