NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Do not believe anything cs say they are either lying to confuse people because they are desperately trying to stop people leaving or don't have a clue what is going on.

I cannot trust anything they say all listings removed 2 weeks ago i may never sell here again and at least i know my 100% will not be ruined

They know Evri don't have nationwide coverage.

As I've said elsewhere, there are multiple elements of Simple Delivery that all looks like traps.

They told sellers we have 3 days turnaround for orders.

But buyers are being quoted 2-3 day delivery from date of purchase.

How do we have 3 days then? TRAP

The ability to deselect Royal Mail is another trap. Evri do not have total UK coverage. So you'd basically be doing postcode discrimination.

TRAP

By the latest release sellers will be covered for fragile items posted via Simple Delivery as long as they follow eBay's packaging guidance.

How do you prove that? They don't accept photos or video as proof of the packing process.

TRAP

I've probably spent a couple of hundred quid maintaining my 100% feedback over my 24 years here giving buyers refunds when maybe I shouldn't have but always giving them the benefit of the doubt if they raise issues thinking it will all average out over enough transactions.

So the feedback feels like a bit of an investment but then if I can't use ebay anymore because they are intolerably arrogant, domineering, expensive and untrustworthy then maybe it was just an investment in past sales. At least there is another place where I can import my ebay feedback so maybe it has some value.

Beware of importing they have promised repercussions in the updated terms 17/3 and people over there are reporting that it doesn't work now, we think Ebay have disabled it somehow. I'm just starting again but using the photos from the listings i have taken down and not yet deleted

OMG they are even trying to claim our hard earned feedback as their own data to avoid competition?

It's kinda shocking but at the same time completely what I would expect of their ultra low standards.

Surely as GDPR data subjects we have a right of access to our feedback data?

I got a 24hr ban for mentioning the oppo on here. Have just made my case to CMA this clearly affects carriers creating monopolies for RM and Evri. Yes i can only use RM but some people have Yodel very near to them, some use DPD, even that other place beginning with a V allow a large selection of carriers, i think i read that they tried this and had to backtrack

The following is an extract from what ebay's CEO Jamie Iannone said in a conference call with the likes of Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley etc.  ["Managed Shipping" is Simple Delivery].

The second phase of managed shipping; radically simplifies the experience and creates a new revenue stream for eBay. Similar to managed payments and eBay international shipping, Managed shipping leverages our scale and expertise to create a better experience for customers while generating incremental revenue and operating income dollars.

Of course we all know that ebay have done this to make money, but it still makes me feel slightly sick to see the CEO proudly gloating to other mega-rich people about fleecing those who can least afford it.  What a truly horrid organisation this has become.

I'm unsure that RM are actually a part of this initiative other than continuing to sell ebay their labels with a standard discount. On average I would expect RM/PO to both be losing business from the brutal shift to Evri. Perhaps RM may themselves have complained to the CMA about what ebay are doing.

It may be that ebay are relying on a clause in the existing RM "marketplace seller" terms that is supposed to deal with the rare occasion where an error has been made by the sender to put all these unmeasured and unweighted items into RM's network?

RM may not be geared up for the scale of how many errors there will be but might have accepted they will have to deal with it as there were no limits agreed at the time as it was unimaginable that anyone let alone everyone would send something making no attempt to measure or weigh it.

They should already have some experience with it from Vinted. At the moment they are taking in the standard RM parcels, god knows how many are wrong there and they are doing many of the InPost ones.

As far as being in the SD club, I would rather be RM or Evri right now. Nobody seems to mention it but couriers like Yodel and DPD are probably sick over being left out.

Well i've laid it out clearly RM does not not have the options available when buying online, letter post, 48 tracked, 10kg are missing not everything can be collected which discriminates against the disabled. All carriers should be an option, why if yodel depot is a few doors away does that person be expected to drive miles to an Evri drop off. Plus the fact that if you disable one of the two options Ebay will charge more to the buyer and pocket the difference.

They obviously have a deal with these 2 but every option available on the RM site should be available here. As for Evri i can't walk or drive to drop off so i cannot use that anyway and haven't looked into it

I really don't get why Ebay are being so dogmatic about enforcing Simple Delivery unless they have already signed a deal that would difficult to pull out of .  If not Ebay need to expose the true cost of what they pay the chosen courier for the service as if they are getting commission on it that needs to declared  even though it is pennies . Not an issue when you choose to but post at present as you don't have to buy through Ebay

Something I don't that has been mentioned much on the post although I haven't read todays multitude of posts , what contribution are Ebay going to make buyers for packaging costs this simply doesn't seem to highlighted but it is valid cost to the buyer .  Have I missed something there

Currently the buyer can factor that into their own P & P costs .

If Simple Delivery is going to be enforced totally fairly Ebay should come round you house wrap the parcel  for you and send it on your behalf  and once they wrapped it you get paid your buyer fee . All a  bit daft is it as daft  as "Simpleton Delivery" .

They won't compensate for packing materials and if they refuse to combine postage imagine someone buys 10 items and we have to pack them all separately. Will they end up doing a UK service like Global delivery ? We have to send the item to a warehouse then they send it on to the buyer? Nothing would surprise me. GSP if horribly expensive and buyers give negative feedback  to sellers using it. They promise more changes throughout this year, it can only get worse

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

With regard to ebay holding on to our money, I've seen this on another thread and thought I'd re-post it here in case some people find it useful.

Regulatory Violations (Financial Conduct Authority)

  • •          If the merchant operates as a payment service provider (e.g., holding funds on behalf of sellers), it may be subject to the Payment Services Regulations 2017 or other financial laws.
  • •          These regulations typically require funds to be held securely and transferred promptly.
  • •          Prolonged withholding of funds may lead to complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) or regulatory action by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Unjust Enrichment

  • •          If the merchant benefits financially from holding funds (e.g., earning interest), this could constitute unjust enrichment, which is actionable under UK law.

I've no idea what constitutes "promptly" or "prolonged".  As for earning interest, well they'd be rather foolish if they didn't have the money in an interest-bearing account, and we all know how keen ebay is to earn money money money and more money.
