AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I really apologise for all the emails you've received. Because all mine go into my spam box it's not to bad. I'm not tec savvy but can only think somewhere there is some conflict between the accounts. I do know that once you post on a thread somehow it automatically presumes your watching that thread so you get emails. It just seems weird that your getting them even though you've not subscribed.

If I sell a large letter item under 100g and under £10 (inc postage?), I can print off my £1.55 label as I’ve always done and stick it in a postbox.
Possibly - there may be an option to opt out of SD, but IF ebay are 'estimating' the weight of your item, it will probably be over 100g and therefore you won't be able to opt out!
If I sell a large letter item under 100g but for more than £10 I get condemned to use ebay’s new much-better label that costs £2.70, but I can still just stick it in a postbox, although due to lack of proof of postage it’ll take a while to get paid.
£2.70 is tracked. If you just drop it in the box, it won't have an acceptance scan, but it should get tracked, and show delivery, so you will only have to wait 2 days after it shows delivered for payment.
If a sell a small parcel, I can’t stick it in a postbox and I have to find a royal mail parcel drop off point (Evri only theoretically operate in my area) or some such.
There are now quite a few parcel postboxes, so you could drop it in there, if you can't get to a PO, Delivery Office or Sorting Office.
Again, you won't get an acceptance scan, but the journey and delivery should be tracked.

Regarding the 1 day bans... There was a thread about a BBC Radio 4 program (airing Monday 31 March 2025) which someone had been invited onto to talk about these eBay changes. The responses were mostly how that person should think very carefully before going on the program in case they made a fool of themselves. I thought that was quite strange, so I offered my support as a counterbalance, adding a couple of posts and one of them was removed. I wasn't told exactly what the problem was, just that I had "been disruptive" and........ I was given a 3 day ban! Not just one day, so I was either extra disobedient, or they didn't want me posting on that thread again. Because my post was made on the Friday, the ban took me through Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. So, I was unable to say anything more on that thread before the program went out. Now, isn't that interesting.....

Several newspapers have printed stories about the simple delivery and peoples reactions to it

Thanks for that.👍 It appears that the 85p label for posting items weighing less then 100gms I saw two days ago has been removed.. How can they justify charging £2.74 for an ordinary 85p second class letter???

Ebay say that sellers should weigh and measure the parcel before listing the item and then if someone buys the item ebay will supposedly send a postal label for their prices based on the size and weight you have put in your listing

Because the wonderful people at ebay have made it simpler and cheaper for you.
No need to thank them - they just love making things better every day.

But that is the point.
The size and weight boxes are now missing. There are only the rough options for SD.

Just thinking, the 'Sell for Free' shtick is actually not exactly true..it was never well communicated and I only found this out through the boards, I didnt see it in an email but if you get an offer on an item it's YOU that pays the fee, NOT the buyer..they kept that hidden....
perhaps one for the ASA?

Well they won't be sending me any labels! Until ebay see sense & allow total opt out of simple (should be dumb) delivery I won't be selling anything. Have a few 'low price\weight' goods but will not be measuring\weighing them before posting on ebay as several times buyers buy 2 or 3 of my vintage mags which I offer multi-buy prices & combine postage. One person once bought 7 in one go.
7 lots of ebay rip-off profit is NOT going
to happen. I'd pack multiple buys in the same packaging!
And, because not selling I doubt I'd be buying anything too from ebay!

Click on your account picture in the top right and select 'My subscriptions', from there you can click the box next to the subscription for this thread and select delete from the dropdown options.
Edir: And remember, every time you post again on the thread it will re-subscribe you!

'for my own sanity'
You've hit it right on the nail there. Selling should, in the main, be an interesting & enjoyable experience. However the way Ebay is going, it's certainly neither.

Looks like eBay have altered the estimated delivery times 👍
Feel a little more confident with it now and won't have to worry about packing at 11 at night.

Very true. It's true though. This is or was meant to be a platform for people to sell and buy on and enjoy doing so. Now it's do this and do that and can't do this and can't do that. We'll be given instructions on how to think next.

The real USP for Ebay is it is platform where you can sell literally anything within reason , I believe it started with "POG" cards . My specialist field is Model Railways and its an ideal trading place as it is for other hobbies as its not just mainstream items it is brilliant for the more obscure difficult to source items etc
If current Senior Ebay.uk management want to expand or protect themselves against other platform then exploit Ebays unique USP and not just try to copy someone else's model that is that not appropriate for Ebay .
I had another email conversation with on of Eve's staff but although they will feedback to management that is the end of conversation for now , leaving me a disgruntled customer . It feels there is a total lack of empathy for the very real issues that are being raised here or even understand why its very its experienced user base even think they are a problem in the 1st place . It does feel a bit futile but hopefully some it will stick. I also have ask myself how long do keep giving free common sense consultancy , for which some people charges £k's for it
Removing selling fees was a carrot and think most of us were guessing how will Ebay make their money now and now we know . Given the prolonged truly Free period Ebay have taken a massive great risk just to pretend it could ever be free to sell . If "buyer protection" fees and fee delays creates a cost then you negate any credibility in Free to sell . The very real problem is sellers cost were hidden and "buyer protection" fees aren't and that is a major dis-incentive for any potential buyers even in reality it drives down prices as fewer people will be prepared to bid .
For those who want to work out what the "buyer protection" fee click the bids box as that will show the listing price , rather than the asking price on the listing . It is quite shocking
To me Simple Delivery was a reason for me to stop selling in itself but just changing that still means there are massive issues particularly with lower price items .

Everything in your post is so true. SD is the final straw for me. I've been a loyal private seller/buyer on here for 20 years next month but when I remove the last of my listings at the weekend that's me done as a seller for the foreseeable future. People like yourself and me and many others feel aggrieved that many years of loyalty and contributing to where they are today counts for nothing. And now trying to enter into common sense communication with them is just brushed aside.

I am going to stop selling when simple delivery becomes compulsory
04-04-2025 4:51 PM
Not seen that yet. The last I saw was the blurb just after her promotion.
04-04-2025 4:54 PM
I'm removing my last 4 listings at the weekend because from the 7th they are altering live listings and any new listings will have SD.
