AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

The obvious answer to 'I'm not aware of an issue like this' is 'Well you are now and you should do something about it', and it's obviously not just about me; eBay must have taken that extra 68p (and more for larger parcels) countless times. In this case 68p is about 7.5% of what I should have received. I'll give CS a go as suggested, but don't hold out much hope.
The parcel arrived at the collection point on time, but has not yet been picked up, and consequently eBay's tracking says 'Running behind'! It doesn't matter one jot of course, but all the little things that are not quite right add up to a not-so-fun experience.

I’ve never known anything like it initially it was incredibly straightforward. You printed out your QR code. The post office sent off now every post office I went to 4 post offices say we will have nothing to do with eBay anymore. Finally found a Tescos outsourcing service yet each time when anyone ask a question via eBay eBay blames the customer What is that about?

That's for BIN listings. Auctions will obviously have a flexible BPF value depending on the final sale price.

BPF is calculated from the final sale price, but doesn't include your postage costs in that calculation.

If I sell an item for 99p with free postage, the BPF is 14p.

If I sell an item for 99p+£3.30 postage, the BPF is still 14p.

I don’t get that. EBay (and Amazon) made that mistake years ago by not charging a fee on the postage element (obvs now talking custom postage)

Bad sellers went on to load the item cost into the postage thus lowering the fees. Feels like a risk to leave that open as a potential problem.

perhaps this is a test to see if “you can have nice things”! Not you specifically.

Seems that way doesn't it. I think shoehorning SD & BPF into the current architecture has caused multiple programming issues. I'm sure they'd change it if they could.

The same with BPF being bypassed by customers who don't use .co.uk.

The other day I had a moment! Was able to list an LP by Custom Postage....It then went back to

No longer selling on ebay ..stayed in for 3 days waiting for DHL to collect a guitar od sold ..they lied and stated on ebay site that i had refused collection ..in the end i sent through parcelforce at my own cost ..cant get to talk to a human  being to see if i can get my  cost back ..never again ...

My local POs are pretty good, but the one by my parents told dad if he couldn't get the package (amazon return) through the hatch he had to take it to the main PO in town! This was simply the wannabe doctor's receptionist behind the counter making the rules up as she goes along and she was very quickly sorted out by the area manager.

I suspect it's actually "I'm sure they'd change it if they could be bothered." Whoever thinks up complicated things like SD and BPF in the first place is capable of tweaking it and instructing the programmers as it's all just programming code. stamp_hammer's right and eBay urgently needs to sort out its multiple programming issues. When any company says "can't" they probably really mean "won't".

They did listen in the end and I got a refund even though I couldn't void the label. Now I had to repack a keyboard into a parcel to see if the shop for evri will take it I cannot stomach going to the PO again as they've had a lot of problems with ebay. Then OMG I found out that evri wont insure musical instruments  so if it's accepted, I'm sending at my own or ebays risk

the good news is that I got the £3.70  back via packlink even thogh it should have been voided before 14 days. After complaining to ebay with the 'contact us form  she was very good & escalated it to the correct dept.

thats diabolical I've only done 1 new listing since the end of july  & granted  it sold straitaway but that wretched SD means that I may have to cancel the order due to (as mentioned above) the OP not taking it. There was also no oplion for the evri pick up which was very difficult for me as I had to cart the parcel back home again. The buyer only lived in nottingham (not a huge distance from me) & if I'd got paid the postage money I could have delivered it my self

The whole selling and buying on ebay is now a complete joke that isn't funny.

Evri are a complete nightmare and I will never choose to use them instead of Royal Mail.

My recent experience has made me realise that I will never sell on ebay again unless I can completely opt out of Simple Delivery and be able to deal with Royal Mail directly again.

Good luck to any private sellers who are selling on here still.

You'll need all the luck you can get.

I know the feeling all to well.

Ebay choose to use Evri over Royal Mail and tomorrow will be the 5th day that my package has been at my local Evri Depot without being sent out for delivery.

Ebay and Evri don't give a jot.

I will never use Simple Delivery and I loathe Evri.

There is a definite lack of communication from Ebay and Evri. They are as bad as each other.

I was just looking at another well known ecommerce site.  They have recently taken advantage of the dissatisfaction at ebay by opening more and more new categories.  I looked at the arts and crafts category and some of the big names in arts & crafts are selling on there - Hobbycraft, The Works, The Range, Winsor & Newton (brand leader in artists paints) etc.  I also noticed B&M, Dulux, Johnstone's Paint etc. 

It's unbelievably incompetent for a company like ebay to have engineered a situation where the backlash to SD and possibly other recent changes has given competitors the opportunity to develop from a single product range to a serious competitor for many (and probably ultimately all) ebay's categories.  Heads should roll.

I've just seen the latest tv commercial by the above company and surprise, surprise, the focus isn't on clothing, it's on the new categories.  And ebay are letting them execute this takeover bid, while doing nothing about SD and the other root causes of the exodus of sellers and buyers.  Absolute madness.

As I may have said before  🙂 

my opinion is SD is Ebay's  brand name for all these changes ( SD, BPF, Free to sell and delayed payments )  and  this is their attempt to copy the VTD model  . The "SD" was a term yet to be coined so hey presto we are now lumbered with a delivery set-up which is opposite of simplicity . 

Free to Sell was probably seen as VTD big marketing edge over Ebay but the reality it  just made selling easy for the market VTD was aiming at . 

The implementation of SD has apart from doing immense damage to Ebay's own customer base ,  has also shown up the major flaw with VTD's model as BPF is a simple con and has absolutely nothing to do with protecting buyers and is just a marketing scam that sooner or latter will stopped in its tracks .  

SD  etc is not  something that just needs tweaking it needs to to thrown away  ASAP
