AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I think buyer must have put in code somehow, where it was saying "awaiting postage" for the last 12 days, today that has disappeared, although he hasn't picked up yet, coming at 3pm.

It sounds like the customer has already put the code in, which perhaps they should not do until they have actually collected... but that might be all that has to be done. Maybe the buyer has to put in the code, not the seller?

In terms of Ebay shiny new advert , are Ebay saying with SD you can now take your item to the local parcel shop I.E Evri as its obviously not a Post Office and they will help you pack it and supply stuff that you need to pack it .
No one seems to supply a postage label though 🙂

Blimey, It’s an advert, not a documentary.
23-09-2025 11:07 PM
Yes I get it is an advert , but my point is does that advert show a seller wrapping a parcel at some kind of parcel shop and probably using stuff supplied by said parcel shop to wrap their parcel .
If so, is it a yet unpublished genuine Ebay service or is the advert simply misleading ! . I think it could be the latter and Ebay are open to complaint via the relevant channels .
Given how SD denies the seller a proper method to charge for packing costs this is not really just a trivial point for many .

Or does it show a seller wanting to say goodbye to her beloved biker jacket one last time before she packs it into a box that she also brought to the shop herself and tapes up with the tape you can buy from eBay.
youll be telling me that Yorkies legally shouldn’t be for girls next.

That is what the advert is intended to do , but it also suggests you can pack your item at you local parcel shop and while that might seem relatively trivial , in terms of Ebay and SD unless its a genuine behaviour Ebay promote then its potentially misleading as an advert .
I would need to watch it a few more times but for those who genuinely want to change SD etc it does present an opportunity to do something !

Must remember to report Irn Bru to the Health Watchdog.
cant believe they’ve got away with selling a drink made from girders all these years.

Possibly because there were concerns about the implication that the drink might be beneficial to those suffering from Anaemia, when there wasn't any benefit.
I don't think anyone has any real objections to ebay enhancing its profits by providing a better service than the existing one that they use. i.e. Going to the drop off point of their choice and paying for the service of their choice.
SD would be taken up willingly by most private sellers, if that were the case and businesses would be clamouring to be allowed on board. Probably moaning that they were again being dis-advantaged in favour of private sellers by not being allowed use SD.
But that isn't the case is it. Private sellers may accept it even if knowing that they and their buyers are being inconvenienced and possibly over-charged into the bargain. A few business sellers have found it useful in some circumstances and adopted it for specific product lines while still hanging onto the freedom to chose something different for others.
SD is akin to Tesco decreeing that the self-employed can use a checkout that accepts any method of payment, but anyone buying 'Value' products must use a different checkout with restrictions, hoops and a surcharge to increase the stores profit margin.

The whole thing is a shambles. What about the disabled who cant take their items to a shipper and counted on RM home collection or the like. I find it crazy that ebay UK hasn't yet been investigated by the CMA and I encourage all to write to them about the borderline illegal practices being implemented by ebay UK against their long time customers. ** Monopolizing Shipping. Reselling other companies services while attaching their own T&Cs to them at a profit. Excluding the disabled from their platform who cant leave their homes. No formal complaint procedure available on their website. Holding sellers funds after the sale is completed. Feedback with no negative option. etc. etc. etc. ** Take the few minutes and let the CMA know what you think in your own words.

I believe, and it's been quite a recent thing, that Royal Mail Home Collection is now available through Simple Delivery, and I think the RM 30p charge, is not applicable.

Does anybody know how long ebay take to refund the SD label as a seller pays option after submitting a refund request?
24-09-2025 12:06 PM
The announced extra price rise for sellers who chose to just select was a clear breach of competition rules .
However I am not sure this was actually implemented or Ebay have just "forgot" they put that up as announcement . The link is still valid
Interesting Royal Mail have closed down that query yet . CMA just gave a standard neutral response
If it has actually been implemented then it worth logging a complaint against with the CMA as this does directly unfairly impact Ebay customers both sellers and buyers as well Royal Mail etc .
Like wise if anyone thinks the new Ebay advert is suggesting they can pack their item at local courier shop then complain to the ASA , it really only takes a few minutes and it would be pretty embarrassing to Ebay if the advert was found to be misleading . I haven't complained yet as the focus on the add is why the girl is selling the item and its not until I saw for the 4th time you start looking at other things in the add etc and that is why I added a post last night .
Given how Ebay have set-up SD and the fundamental changes to end to end responsibilities then for it to work fairly then sellers should be able to take their parcel to a parcel shop and they wrap it for them and this could suggest they do . It is subtle point but given the implications of SD I think many people on this post could be justified in raising a complaint if they feel the same

Can one complain to the ASA that ToolStation don't personally turn up in the middle of the night to delivery your goods as well?
