AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Just use the same template just click on SELL A SIMILAR ITEM" and change the image and description etc.

Hi Squirrel, We all dislike SD for one reason or another, for me it's just price. My Post man put this leaflet through my door this morning which may be helpful to some.
Can't wait to see how "put it in the postbox and scan the label for proof of postage works"

Well if it works it would solve my main problem - I can get to a parcel-postbox, but not to a post office.
Be interesting to see..........

No, its the loss of posting independently that's the killer.
I shall keep the account open for occasional buying, but as a seller, until they bin Stupid Delivery, I'm (sadly) done.
Concerning the 2-day despatch, go to Preferences https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf and scroll down to 'Dispatch and handling' and set your working days as you wish. Perhaps just Saturday.

Yes quitting eBay because of simple delivery from 6th Aug. To be honest since they introduced the extra charge to pay for buyer protection my sale have been rubbish. So I will go elsewhere.
18-07-2025 1:06 AM
All my existing listings are set to 5 days. If I try and edit the majority of them now, they are automatically set to Stupid Delivery and 2 days. The max I can change that to is 3 days.
The link you quoted doesn't give me the option to change despatch time.
I do often despatch in 2 days, but if I'm under the weather it can be 5 days before I can get out of the flat. That flexibility was invaluable.

I have hardly been in my local PO since SD was forced on me, they have had the couple of sales that i have made on the other e site but that is all. May not made them a fortune but it all helped, jumping into bed with e bay may not be such a success as they were hoping.
18-07-2025 6:44 AM
i am not desperate for money so paying out a few pounds initially for postage does not bother me. Not sure that if someone was that e bay is the best place to be selling the items on!
18-07-2025 6:49 AM
they used to call it a sellers fee so why not just the truth and say 'buyers fee'! That would be because the buyers would think that they were being charged a fee for buying so they dress it up as a 'protection fee', which is not actually needed.
18-07-2025 6:59 AM
I would still be using the site if they had not made it mandatory. I would come back if they made it optional but now i would also continue to use the other e site. I like it but at the moment there are just not the sales (although e bay seems to be suffering from that as well even though it is so much bigger!).

I don't think that's possible any more (Unless it's been changed again recently)
When SD was first announced part of the T&Cs were that everyone enrolled must post within 2 days. At some point that seems to have been extended to the 3 days quoted now.

If you use my workaround you can set up to 40 days! https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/how-do-you-list-anything-bigger-than-61cm/td-p/788244...

That link doesn't work unfortunately. If I try and list anything (I do so now and then just as an experiment) I default to Simple Delivery with 2 day turnaround. I have the option to change to 3 days but that is it. No good for anyone who works 9 - 5 Mon - Fri, and makes a sale on a Monday!!
Sorry, I've just seen someone else has posted a work around. That's good, if there is something that works for now, for those that need it. I have in fact saved the link, 'just in case'! But I am too long in the tooth to be wrestling with technology in that way. I wouldn't want to be in a position of selling something, only to find that these work arounds no longer work. I will consider coming back to sell only when BPF and SD is scrapped and we revert to a realistic and fair FVF. That was when eBay was Simple and fun! Only when everyone is on the same system, and that system is clear, consistent, fair and sensible will I be back.

Been thinking about your workaround and custom postage with items under £10/100g and oversize items.
How do you mark the items as dispatched?.. can you still do it the old way.
18-07-2025 10:44 AM
Some people have been able and others haven't! All the luck of the draw as with most things ebay nowadays. Theoretically you should be able to for non-simpleton delivery items but then ebay haven't even provided a means for over-size items to be listed hence my workaround.

Todays (1st) "simple" postage issue:
Buyer wins 3 of my auctions.
Simple postage wont let me combine shipping.
So I have to refund the buyer, 2x out f the 3 shipping cost they've already paid.
Went alright but realised:
I have paid the 1x shipping cost from money ebay hold until 2 days after its been delivered (abroad).
Okay I've had to acept this BS.
But the kick in the teeth is when the postal refund x2 that I've sent the buyer, come out of my funds, and not the pending funds from the actual sale.
So while I wait to be paid for my foreign order, I'm actually out of pocket for the 2x postal costs I've had to refund, until 48 hours after the order arrives.
So I carry the financial burdon of the mistakes of a multinational company ebay, whilst they hold onto the cash from my sale.
When we are forced into this situation, the funds for the refund, should come out of the the pending total, not my cleared funds.
This is simply drop jaw stuff. Ebay could not care less about us sellers, launching this unfinished buggy new system on us is beyond the pale.
Sellers now are just an unavoidable annoyance to ebay, and they treeat us as such.
Remember when altavista used to be the worlds favourite search engine you crooks?
Your time is coming.

Thank you, was just curious as to what happens if you don't mark an item as dispatched. Would you get a ding on your account for late dispatch/delivery or something along those lines.
Am going to try a custom listing over the weekend and just thinking about how its going to work out
18-07-2025 10:56 AM
Still not selling and simple delivery is too complicated, left after having to pay postage twice, the latest email is just too complicated for private sellers, Give me a set fee, let me sort out the postage and packaging myself and as I only use Royal Mail, go to the post office.
Cannot see it changing anytime soon due to contracts.

I don't know - but you could always set your handling time to 40 days to prevent any of that happening!😀
I am just playing their system against them.

i does now feel like i should have been on a 3 week couse somwhere to actually understand how to use ebay in 2025
