AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Plus as a seller is selling their item surely they should be the person who decides what postage option and price they want the item to be.

So in the future a awful lot of sellers will have 100% feedback. That wouldn't be totally fair on the genuine sellers who took pride in maintaining extremely high positive human feedback.

Just checked into automated feedback and it's only left 7 days after delivery, just to make sure they don't give us our selling proceeds any sooner.
As surely as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, ebay will NEVER do anything for anyone except themselves and if it looks as if they have 'listened' or are 'helping', guess again as it will not be genuine and you have been deceived.

So very true. The "we've been listening" is a play on words instead of a admission saying we got it wrong.

It will be interesting to see how long the price matching to RM small parcels will take. There are no timescales in that message.

Oh what a tangled web we weave...................

I can't see it happening as quickly as the changes came into play. Unless the second quarter figures look like being extremely dire.

"Plus as a seller is selling their item surely they should be the person who decides what postage option and price they want the item to be."
Yes, the seller is certainly providing the package, even if the courier is doing the delivering part of the service.
I would get quite miffed as a buyer if, when I'd paid for a small parcel, the item arrived in a large letter. I do think it's mis-selling.
But in this case, where an item is in a large letter but being charged to the buyer as a small parcel, it's very clearly mis-selling by Ebay and not by the seller.
06-05-2025 8:33 PM
But we're the ones made to suffer because of changes made that are so poor.
06-05-2025 8:35 PM
It's going to cause a lot of issues and mistrust between buyers and sellers.
06-05-2025 8:45 PM
The irony here is that even if a buyer (after checking with the seller) cancels a purchase because the postage service was mis-sold to them (by Ebay) they'll receive a refund for the cost of the item right away but may still have to wait another 30 days or so for the refund for the unused postage label.
Payment retention for buyers? It's hardly an easy or pleasant buying experience should that happen.
06-05-2025 8:49 PM
You are right. At this moment neither selling or buying is a pleasant experience. It really shouldn't be as bad as this.

Like IS, another never ending project that never gets finished, a problem ebay caused to sabotage the Collectables market and as it's been a work-in-progress ever since, makes sure it stays sabotaged.
The "We listened to you" and are working to get it right B-S again with SD.
Ebay dumps an un-tested mess onto private sellers, still doesn't work but ebay gets some of it right and expects praise ? But starts making profits from day one, that bit always works perfectly.

I see there was no mention of eBay reimbursing sellers for all the stamps that they had purchased in advance for future sales.
I shall be stuck with a load of large letter stamps that I would never normally (away from eBay) have a use for.
Of course I could sell them for half the price to business sellers but seeing as they are not affected by this SD, I will just end up being really resentful and bitter.
Ebay should have given sellers a lot more warning about this SD so we would not have replenished our stamp supply.

It really is a mess of giant proportions. So it's only taken weeks and thousands of posts on this thread and a lot of other threads for a announcement saying "we are listening". That's not even including the many sellers not listing at present or the people that have gone elswhere. Plus so many people now look at all options online before buying.
It's going way to far to be resolved easily.
The only thing that has truly become transparent is that there is no benefit for sellers or buyers. That must start becoming a worry.

If your ok waiting 14 days for payment you could sell free post and get the addresses from the invoices to use your stamps up.

'I shall be stuck with a load of large letter stamps that I would never normally (away from eBay) have a use for.'

You can use them up ; it's a bit of a clunky (and time consuming) method, but:
Set your sales up on S.D. as 'seller pays postage'.
You print off the label in order to get the address, but you do not use the label.
Post your item how you want, and the value of the unused label will be refunded to you in about 30 days (so we've been told...)
The time 'consumer' is how long it takes for you to get your money from the sale. Without the label being used (and therefore the tracking number going into the system and getting confirmed delivered) you'll have to wait the full 14 days for your payment.
So it just depends on how skint you are....!

Yes, extending the limit for release of payment from £25 to £750 if buyer leaves positive feedback initially seems pretty good. However, when reading closer and checking the new wording on the payments help page it would appear that they have sneaked an additional caveat in as it is now positive feedback after delivery confirmation that is required, whereas previously only positive feedback was required for items £25 and under, so positive feedback will now only speed up the release of payment by a maximum of 2 days. Isn't that nice of them!

So much for Simple Delivery. That really is such a poor choice of name.

Perhaps Sh*tty Delivery would be more appropriate.
