NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It definitely seems that way , doing their best to thwart private sellers, every which way

But  then why the advertising campaign which is purely  aimed at attracting private sellers .

Ebay have simply lost the plot .

If Ebay are going to call us Members and say this is a community then why do they point blank refuse to listen ,respond  and react . Something has to break soon  surely !

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I am a low-value seller, so have an "out" BUT the recent changes have dampened my enthusiasm and I haven't added anything new in several weeks now. And hence I'm not buying as much, so they've actually damaged the collector's market place..

eBay = pure naked greed.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

My enthusiasm lasted as long as my final listings on the 6th. As I'm not selling, I've not got the spare money for purchases. I'm making do with what I have, and really thinking hard if I need whatever it is. Ebay have shot themselves in the foot.

Agree, absolutley rubbish system. I have one very angry buyer because the item didn't arrive in time for a birthday. First mistake, using the recommended label from Royal Mail - what a mess that company are! Delivered 2 days later than paid for. And eBay recommend them! Secondly, eBay hanging onto my money for nearly 9 days since the buyer paid. No way. Last time I sell with ebay.

They want to attract new, *younger* private sellers who are used to V inted and the way V works.

Ebay are trying to copy V inted, after all. (...making a carp job of it, mind you...)

This is never going to happen because eBay don’t have any advantage over vinted

So why would any seller there where it’s also free to list and has multiple methods of delivery unlike ebays two , move over here

having said that there is the ability to do cheap custom shipping here for small light cheap items

so maybe

But maybe not because of how laborious it is listing here plus you get more views there

hmmm

Got to imagine that it's because they've got hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of private sellers still listing items without complaining, whilst a couple of hundred at the very most are here making noise.

I don't agree with the changes either, but a lot of folks on here seem to massively over-estimate exactly how important they are to eBay. This board isn't for eBay to use to gauge the feeling of the community. It's here to make people FEEL as if what they say matters.

The reality is that it's essentially nothing but a wall to shout at so that customer service staff don't have to listen to it on the phone.

But they simply aren't selling as BPF  kills the auction market . A 99p bid automatically adds an 80% mark up

Ebay have had 6 months of no selling fees in the UK to the point they introduced BPF then SD .

It is a broken business model .

No business has an  endless supply of gullible customers who don't mind been walked over in this way !!

What you say does seem to mirror Ebay corporate strategy ,  that their long term customers don't matter ?

Quite the opposite, I would say. A broken business model would be caring about hundreds of thousands of 99p auctions that cost the company the same to service as the £99 auctions do, but which make the company much, much less money. And which anger the business sellers who bring in a LOT of money, because they're sick of trying to get visibility for their items amongst broken teapots, torn comic books, and "rare" items that are about as rare as hairballs appearing in a house containing 15 cats. (That isn't my opinion regarding visibility...but you only need to look around to see that it's the consensus.)

No matter how much the item sells for, it costs the same for eBay to process it. Server costs, transaction processing, even the amount of emails they have to send...it's all the same. Auctions cost more than BINs from a technical standpoint, too. For a number of reasons, the chances of a customer service agent having to be involved is almost guaranteed to be far more likely for a lower-priced transaction than for a higher-priced one, as well.

So they absolutely do NOT care that Maud in Aberystwyth can't sell her "vintage" toilet roll holder at auction for 99p.

eBay doesn't care about low-priced auctions. If sellers had any sense, they wouldn't care about them either. I guarantee that fixed-price is more effective, EVEN if you don't know what an item is worth. People don't want to wait 7 days to see if they've won an item. Sellers don't want to wait for 4 days after that for the buyer to maybe, perhaps, possibly actually pay them for the item they won. Plus, the days of "maybe there will be a bidding war and I'll make THOUSANDS for this old teaspoon" are long, loooooooooooong behind us. You've got more chance of making £10 from an item by pricing it at £10, then you do of pricing it at 99p and hoping that people fight the price up to £10. If it doesn't sell, delist it and relist it for £9. Then £8. If you get to a fiver, keep relisting it at that. It doesn't cost you anything, and you get more visibility than it being an auction, because it keeps showing up in the "latest items" view. If it never sells for a fiver, then the chances that it would ever sell at 99p are remote at best.

I don't use auctions as a rule, but I put a game console bundle up a couple of weeks ago for an £80 start. 7 days. By the start of the 7th day, I had no bids, 23 watchers, and had six or seven questions about it to deal with. So I ended it and put it up for a BIN of £149.99. Sold within 24 hours. If I had left it running at auction, would it have gone for £150? Absolutely and assuredly not.

Auctions, apart from for higher-priced (say, £50 up) or very desirable items, are all but done. For all types of seller. And I bet eBay are over the moon about it.

You're right. Long-term customers don't matter to eBay.

One that make them money do. That is quite literally the only category of customer that they care about.

And I didn't belittle anyone. But because you're roaming these boards in search of people who are shouting "YEAH, YOU'RE RIGHT! DOWN WITH EBAY!" in agreement with you, you'll take it that way, no matter what I say.

I have no idea. Firstly, I didn't say that, and secondly, I've never sold broken teapots. 😄

I started using this site a few months before you.

The fact is you might be ok with all these draconian changes and might be ok with the idea of being controlled but there are a big number of users and ex users that do not share your views.

As a genuine private seller and as someone who used to buy a lot I and I think many others are disgusted that after so many years of contributing towards this platform getting to where it is today it has now become such a mess.

Imagine there's a lot of dealers that keep an eye out for cheap start auctions.

The problem with them is you have to hope a bunch of passing people are going to spot the auction at the same time and 7 days is a pretty short time for that to happen but any longer and some loose interest, think their an option of last resort. Unless its a car, some car auctions get big exposure on dedicated FB groups.

One thing I don't get is why have a bid listing with make an offer! Iv seen loads of them, does someone want a bid on a item or someone to put in a cheap offer?

So which part of me saying "I don't agree with the changes either" made you think I was OK with the changes?

And I hate to break it to you, but you were being "controlled" way before the changes. You're playing in somebody else's playground. You act how they want you to, or you don't play there anymore.

Maybe we were controlled before but over the years the changes were more subtle and less often.

But like any oppressed users they will only be pushed and pushed so far until they feel enough is enough.

All these recent changes have given me the reality check I needed and now I have no intention of selling here for the foreseeable future and will only buy if I can't find what I want or require elswhere.
