AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I imagine the next step will be the decreasing of the amount of free listings per month for private sellers.

If I'm selling - as I often do - a CD for £2.00, with free postage (postage being £1.55 or £1.90 depending on weight that I am covering from the sale price) I certainly don't use a tracked system as I'd be losing money.
My concern is that eBay remove the manual option to mark items as dispatched as a way of forcing people into SD.

It really seems like private sellers do not really feature in the future ebay plans that's why things are becoming so difficult for private sellers.
01-04-2025 12:11 AM
That wouldn't surprise me. They already have a daily limit on how many kudos you can give in a day in these forums.
01-04-2025 12:13 AM
I've just had a look on a test listing I've made and I can't help but think that it was suddenly too easy to circumvent Simple Delivery this way.
Hopefully this option isn't removed come the 15th.

I hope it stays that way for sellers giving ebay the benefit of the doubt for now.

It won’t be removed that’s for sure
what I’m not 100% on is if your item isn’t heavy or very big but you’ve used custom just to avoid SD will they check?
will have to wait and see after the 15th
something tells me they won’t
that’s me off now
never in all my eBay years have I spent a whole day posting on flipping postage issues
seriousky ebay need to get a grip
but they won’t

You got yours back too lol.

My sales since the February changes have become so low. I'm removing the last of my remaining listings on the 6th and that's my selling days done for the foreseeable future. It's become so obvious that private sellers are of no real interest in the future plans of ebay.

Well said! Yet another pie in the sky money grabbing la-la princess land control trap idea from eBay.
I am NOT a number but an individual who like the rest of us, has the right to post items the way that is convenient to me and not eBay money grabbers.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, so listen carefully eBay:
Buyers are VERY online Savvy. They use Google Shopping to get the goods they need at the price that's right for them. They are aware of what it actually costs to send items via all couriers and postage providers and they will not pay more than the baseline courier cost. RM 48 hour tracked for upto 2 kilos costs £3.39 and does NOT cost £3.71? The only thing that's SIMPLE is the person at eBay who came up with yet another horrendous hidden money grabbing idea which is going to well and truely sink the ship for all! Private sellers and business sellers. eBay have already made private sellers look numerically illiterate with the hidden eBay protection farce fee which has just been added on to the sellers starting price of an item instead of being visiible to the buyer on the lusting with the start price and the eBay farce protection feed directly underneath.
The reason why it has to be hidden is because there's nothing extra given outside of the already in place MBG - 24/7 live help? Who are you kidding eBay? It's Automated Amanda for most of the night, I know because I've checked it several times 😠😡. Once again, online buyers are savvy and know eBay offer no more than what the MBG offers and are not willing to pay extra for absolutely NOTHING!
If business sellers are gleefully rubbing their hands at the prospect of more business as a result of the shambolic money grabbing control freak ideas dumped on private sellers, think again, and fast!
Another fine mess you've got yourself into eBay.
Here's a huge hint for eBay: I'm popping off now because I have 20 Vin*ed sales to pack and send today 😋🤑😎 - Ta-ta for now Amigo Titanic!

But does under £10 include the buyer protection fee. Easier to just forget eBay. Too many rules being added regularly.

Under £10 I believe

I use Yodel £2.69. it's convenient to me. Will not use Evri. They are atrocious. Goodbye eBay. Very sad

I'm selling my collection of vintage glass glass rather than leave it up to my family. I'd recommend the site to private sellers who have slow to sell collectables. Look closely at all the selling options before making-up your mind. The search is better than ebay's as is their version of GTC (RUS) especially in thinly populated categories.
Ebay sales '22 =13. '23 = 13. '24 = 4. '25 = No longer selling on ebay.
Ebid sales '24 = 24. '23 = 17. '24 = 28. '25 = 4 so far this year, but already equal to ebays total for the whole of last year.
What caused the decline in my ebay sales?
Loss of paypal / introduction of MP.
Loss of the old categories in Collectables / introduction of IS, replacing an intuitive, key-word search.
Promoted Listings = pay to be seen or you won't sell anything.
Ebid suffers from none of those things. Buyers type what they're looking for in the search box and the search finds it and puts it in front of them.

As someone who sells vinyl, strong packaging is important, so it's disappointing that Simple Delivery doesn't allow for the inclusion of that cost into the shipping costs - but that can always be absorbed into the item price.
What really concerns me is that eBay can override my choice of item carrier. Evri rightly so has an appalling reputation. Can an eBay rep explain what's the point of allowing a seller to choose not to use Evri if that doesn't have to be heeded by eBay? Would love to hear your thoughts on this, kat@ebay / marco@ebay / dave@ebay
It's also very unfair to have this kicking in with not much notice at all on April 7 - there'll be a few buyers perplexed at seeing their postage costs & options change on that day if they're bidding on an item. A seller could have listed something that requires Special Delivery owing to price & rarity value, and see it being suddenly changed to a delivery firm that's not exactly known for taking great care with parcels.
01-04-2025 10:21 AM
Same. Not a big seller, but sold around 40 books in the last year. Delisted the last few I had yesterday and I won't be back as long as this policy is in place.
01-04-2025 10:32 AM
I'm relisting just on a 5-day auction but adding notes that this is a final listing (I have a few that have/had watchers). After that it's goodbye Ebay. You could have made more money out of me & my buyers, instead you make me & other sellers go through hoops just for you to dictate postage without having the slightest knowledge of what you're doing.
01-04-2025 10:50 AM
So presumably we can set the weight of everything we sell to over 21kg so that we can opt out of simple delivery and post how we like? This whole thing hasn’t been thought through at all it seems.
01-04-2025 10:55 AM
Under £10! 🐵
eBay really sucks big time doing this now though, total and utter greed!
01-04-2025 10:56 AM
No it has, just some of you aren't reading everything they have posted.
Their terms and conditions completely remove workarounds and if you try it, they left themselves lots of options, reprisal wise.
