AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Well we all know nothing is truly free. I read the announcement regarding BPF which at the time I thought was a farce. I think most people can put up with the occasional change but within the last few months we've had BPF introduced, Sellers money being held without any protection, compulsory SD which is another farce. All of this would test the patience of a Angel, let alone normal people.

Does anyone know if other countries are being subjected to the same changes or just the UK?

We're the ones they are experimenting with.

I don’t disagree @rugbyguy1960 too many changes and playing catch up with other platforms.
And it is having an effect on my business.

'......to the same changes or just the UK'
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's UK , Slovenia and one more (can't remember which) ......
ebay knew America wouldn't stand for it and the US had already experienced another couple of selling sites trying stupid things and having to row-back a few months later; ( Poshmark, possibly?)
I think the USA look at the UK as being too polite and quiet to kick up a stink about this sort of thing, so they've 'guinea-pigged' us...

No, Simple Delivery is not being implemented in all countries. It is only available for domestic deliveries within the UK and Channel Islands.. so we're the lucky ones... Not 😡

I wish they would have looked at the bigger picture Jo. So far they've ruined it for private sellers, people aren't buying like they did, and it's affecting small business sellers. It's a never ending chain reaction.

Well if they gauge the response by us in the UK I think they'll definitely think twice about rolling this out Globally especially using the words "this will benefit everyone".

I just tried to do a “sale similar” listing to see if anything has change and bizarrely it didn’t even give me the option of SD? Very strange!
Simply Delivery Missing!

We can only wish it stays missing too.

Head banging moment why do we have CS? Why didnt they say the VAT was separated out of the postage quoted because ebay impose a process which includes VAT instead saying they charge VAT on the delivery service (which you COULD argue should have VAT as a service industry) What I dont understand is how RM can offer ebay company a Standard tracked service for £2.94 inc VAT for Joe Public when if Joe trots to his friendly local Post Office Standard second class small parcel with tracking number is £3.90 now. Sellers have to do the label factor how packaging/transit is compensated in listing and post Office lose the sale handling for free. RM probably dont care as Post Offices are separate. Anyone done a free p&p sale and had to use SD?

Interesting. I'm away from home at the moment but will see what happens with one of mine.

I would imagine that Ebay UK office also looks after other European domains and perhaps Middle East given they are similar time zones etc .
Giving Iannone's comments to the banks this is obviously part of a wider plan and could be a way of levering investment by telling the banks they are "re-inventing" Ebay etc . A major flaw with this "wonder" plan , is it supposed to grow business and its doing the opposite by pushing customers towards other platforms , who might also start looking at creating their own auction platform rather than a boot sale site .
It could be a UK driven "initiative" I would think there will be many that have their doubts within Ebay , whose opinions have probably been steam rollered by the " gifted multi talented infallible leadership "
So afr Free to Sell has failed as it didn't attract enough sellers and seller revenue was lost
BPF and delayed payments have failed as in stifles sales by putting off both buyers and sellers
Simple Delivery has failed before it has properly launched , as not only being deeply unpopular its simply cretinously thought through.

It could be a UK initiative, but I’m more inclined to think that it’s come from the States and that they've chosen Britain to see if they can get away with it road-test it on.
I agree about other opinions being “steam rollered”. As we know from other spheres, the fabulously wealthy not only seem to think that they can do absolutely anything they like without any comeback, but they also seem to lose touch with reality. And these people really are wealthy beyond imagination - we’re talking *annual* remunerations of $21 million, $35 million, $48 million etc. Not all in cash of course - it’s a mixture of salary, bonuses, shares and benefits (it’s all in the public domain). And if what we see elsewhere is anything to go by, the fabulously wealthy seem to exist in an echo chamber, and woe betide anyone who doesn’t agree with whatever their totally skewed thought processes come up with.

Is something happening tomorrow or rather, is something NOT happening tomorrow?
The experience of "myoldbitsandpieces" earlier this afternoon plus an overall silence re the imminent introduction of mandatory SD makes me wonder if a backward step or two is in progress. Wishful thinking perhaps but stranger things have happened.

This whole "Simple Delivery" is controversial. Who is making a profit out of postage at the buyer's expense and how do private sellers cover any cost of postage materials as they are no longer able to specify postage costs.? It does look like you can opt out of using "Simple Seller" by specifying the postage options when listing or re-listing an item. The options under Simple Seller do allow the seller to choose which courier to use, but not set the price and the options available for size and weight are limited. From a buyers perspective, they are seeing considerable changes being passed onto them for both postage (charged + VAT) and buyer protection. If buyers start complaining about the postage cost applied under the Simple Seller process and leave 'Negative Feedback' due to high postage costs which I am sure they will, eBay have foreseen this and will remove any negative feedback left by buyers complaining about postage and protection costs. I am sure eBay will suffer as both sellers and buyers leave eBay. Sadly, good reputations are hard to build, but can be lost in an instance due to poor decisions, this will affect both sellers and ultimately eBay.

eBay are terrible at removing feedback. Even if it's an open shut case for removal. I currently have 2 negatives on my feedback purely where buyers didn't bother to look at photos or read descriptions. Then complain when they only paid absolute fraction of what they thought they were buying.
Also, could be my imagination but every time I get a negative my sales come to a standstill for best part of a week until I do something to feed/please the algorithm.

I have been buying and selling on eBay for over 20 years. Since "Buyer Protection" was introduced I have generally seen the level of my sales drop like for like for similar items previously sold due to the additional cost to the buyer for the buyer protection charges. I am now receiving excessive low offers asking for reduced prices due to this additional charge. In fairness private sellers do need to consider they were previously being charged fees on all sale prices of around 15% on both the selling price and stated postage costs before eBay made if 'free' to sell for private sellers (up to 300 listing per month). But as a business eBay have to make a profit to satisfy investors and share holders and this burden has been passed over to the buyer with both the "Buyer Protection" and "Simple Delivery" policies. The cost of postage to the buyer under Simple Delivery will cost them more and all of these cost are collected directly by eBay with the addition of VAT being added. How does the seller cover the cost of posting materials, the only way is to increase the price of the item/s they are selling that will then cause further issues and less sales. If the level of buyers diminishes, ultimately so will the number of sellers creating a vicious circle, so I can only see these policies as short term as the overall revenue stream and profits will drop prompting eBay management to review their strategy longer term or are eBay too big to worry about losing a percentage of members??

Tomorrow should be fun.

Buyers (and free post sellers) are being asked to pay inflated prices for postage under the new system with zero explanation as to why unless I missed the why
