NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Good news or not, I am just fed up with 'This Months Update'.  Every time I see one I am filled with dread.  I just want to go back to the quarterly updates.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I think with so many changes made so frequently quarterly updates will be way out of date by the next quarter.

A good start would be to stop putting themselves in a position to need to make so many changes so often.

One week to the next seems so long here at present. But any changes for the benefit of private sellers is welcome.

It wouldn't be so bad if ebay were straight with people and generally delivered good news that was a win/win for everyone. But based on experience of ebay emails I kinda dread their  'improvements' as much as I don't enjoy going to the dentist and being told the consequence of my excessive diet coke consumption.

"Simple" Delivery is still anything but simple. There are many serious issues which need to be sorted.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Have been posting CDs and DVD size cases under custom post for over a month or so now. Item weight has never really been an issue, the main issue is trying to get the packing under the 25mm limit.

I do remember when I started this thread someone saying ebay UK was the guinea pig trial platform so obviously ebay globally wants to make changes.

The problem here is for the first time in as long as I can remember private sellers have not just rolled over and accepted things and some have even moved to other platforms.

It's obviously taking way longer than was anticipated for these changes and SD to be accepted.

On that point I have to disagree with you.

For some years ebay's published results have shown falling numbers of buyers (and while ebay published them, falling numbers of sellers too), many of those who left, IMO, were both private sellers and buyers (sellers are also buyers etc.).  IMO, over the years many haven't just rolled over, they've quietly left or become far less regular buyers and sellers because they haven't liked all the previous changes since Managed Payments / loss of paypal.

Easily disguised by ebay's increasing dependence on business sellers, many more of whom have rolled over because they have invested more and become equally dependent on ebay.   Ask yourself who are those quickest to say "It's ebay's game and ebay's rules" or call for threads to be locked as they're "too long and of no further value", derided those who complain and made 'witty' remarks about hiring droves for those saying they are leaving.

Again only my opinion but the numbers and value of private sellers to ebay's UK division has been in decline, but still, as ebay's second largest division, large enough to make it a worthwhile income stream if it goes successfully.

That is why IMO, .uk was chosen for the experiment with UK private sellers as the lab. rats.  Ebay hoped that they would roll over as UK sellers usually do, apart from an acceptably low number who might well leave.

But this time private sellers with little invested in ebay have dug-in their heels at a move that is blatantly unfair and just as obviously a pure and simple cash-grab of little benefit to most and a great inconvenience to many.

Now just watching from the side-lines and no more listings to end and not having bought here this year, I can only say -- Keep the pressure on and good luck.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I feel the same whenever I browse to see what the cd sellers category is like.

Because then I'm bombarded with the "recommendations for you" notifications and the "people like you are buying" notifications.

The annoying thing is that it's most probably  A i generated and it doesn't know I'm browsing to see if it's worth considering selling again.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I guess it's all a grey area.

I've looked at a lot of private sellers who also brought a lot me being a example and at present hardly any of the ones I know have anything listed here but they have started listing elsewhere even though they are still here.

I know it's only a guessing game just like it is regarding what's coming next.

It's only in my personal experience in 20 years of using ebay that I've not known it to be as bad as it is at present.

Yes in the categories I tend to browse and buy in I have been surprised at how many sellers are now listing both here and on the clothing platform with the same photos etc. I guess sellers have to follow the buyers that are going there to maintain the same rate of sales.

It's too complicated for me so I just list an item on the platform I think it should sell better at.

Ebay seem determined to annoy and confuse people away from this place.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Right, this will sound weird. I sent a parcel to someone on Monday 48hr, it didn't move till Thursday. It arrived this afternoon, (Friday). I looked at postie photo, I am almost sure it's not the same parcel I sent. Same black cover, but but much smaller, postie was able to hold in 1 hand, and it doesn't seem to be a box anymore. Now it had 2 biggish jars inside. I was sure a INAD would be opened but I straight away got "as described" feedback. I messaged buyer to say how relieved I was and my concerns. Then I got ebays stupid message saying buyer had reached out and because it was simple delivery they will deal with it. I want to what she replied. So I had eBay call me, asked what the reply was. EBay said their message was sent just in case there would be a problem and that buyer hasn't replied go me. Of course I didn't get Ireland this time of day, but now I don't know if she just getting rid of me! She said if buyer does reply, I would get it. Is it true or false?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I had a message the other day from a buyer asking me to leave her feedback within hours of delivery and she leaving me feedback.    Yes Ebay also said the buyer had reached out to them and they were dealing with them.     I then had a message from said buyer thanking me for leaving feedback for her.

I have just ignored Ebays interference and nothing more has come of it so this stupid Ebay message seems to just be automatic.

Thank you, why do they have to leave such stupid messages unnecessarily, it makes it sound I wouldn't get buyers reply.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

The real weight of any CD or DVD doesn't matter. You can list with custom postage and charge what you want. EBay won't know if it weighs more than 100g if you state that it's under 100g.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Totally agree.  I have stopped selling on ebay and have gone to a selection of antique collector fairs or boot fairs instead , depending on what you have to sell and sold lots more for higher prices as no postage or protection money for ebay. It is a good idea to team up with a friend/relative and share the cost of a pitch which is between £12 for car booty to £40 for a fancy antique collector fair. Most of the items I sold were glass or ceramic and when ebay  teamed up with a shower like evri it showed that ebay are going down

I have not closed my account yet, waiting to see if they come to their senses but I doubt it

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I think this is the first change where people haven't found a way to make it work, or just accept it, I have stopped selling or Buying like so many people, and it's hopefully having an effect, otherwise eBay wouldn't have made this latest concession, but unfortunately this concession is about as useful as a chocolate teapot, so stick with it people, enough is enough, but it's going to take time for it to sink into eBay management, and if people are using Simple Delivery,i don't think it will be long before they encounter a problem and stop selling or buying along with the rest of us!!!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Hi travelin-lite (Engager), I'll second that. It would be so simple for
ebay to allow sellers to choose simple or advanced delivery. That way all
the sellers are happy and the buyers get more choice. Ebay's recent
concesión is no good to me and I suspect most sellers as my smallest parcel
is ½Kg.
