NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I'm in the same situation.

My collection are signed cd's so by the time I put them in padded envelopes and put some extra wrapping around them there is no way they'd be 100g or under.

When dealing with RM directly i sent them by 48hr tracked LL. I could choose 250g or even 500g and it cost me £2.70 plus the 30p collection fee.

That price i didn't mind paying and I didn't get complaints from buyers.

So until I can at least use LL  up to 250g and use RM I won't be selling either.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I am not selling either. But the items I have listed I am just leaving them
there. Costs EBay money to keep my account open. Every now and again I
amend an item to show that it is still active!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

In a ideal situation for a big number of private sellers items under £20 that are Large Letter and up to 250g would get a lot of private sellers selling again even me if the opt out of SD was available.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I would prefer the whole thing to go back to how it was! Small packages
would be a step in the right direction.

It's got so bad that I can't remember when I last had a good browse through what sellers are selling because I'm absolutely fed up with getting the recommendations for you notifications and the people like you are buying notifications.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I guess i never needed to send small packages but Large Letter at a sensible weight would encourage me.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

But surely you can sell something that will weigh 100g+ but declare it to
be under 100g on ebay and add the extra quid or so to the price of the
item. Also is £20 the starting price or eventual sale price?

But you can have LL up to 1Kg via SD tracked 48 for £2.70 so it's the same price they just allow more weight?

It's those of us that would have done lower weights of 2nd class LL that are having to pay a lot more.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Not using RM as my only choice can I get that price through SD.

I can go up to higher weights using RM 48hr tracked for £2.70 plus 30p collection fee when dealing with them direct for Large Letters.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Simple delivery has been a disaster for me. I have about 1000 items listed which I list using the eBay Excel template in batches of 50 to 60 listings at a time. It is quick and efficient. I always offer next day and 3 day delivery to my customers and put the estimated size and weight (as every spare part is a different size and weight after I've packaged it). On all orders after packing I can manually enter the exact size and weight for the courier I choose. It's worked really well for years. Now simple delivery has become mandatory if I edit a listing in any way (including adding a photo) it deleted all my delivery options, size and weights, adding eBay’s (AI?)'guessed' size and weight, which are completely wrong.   What I really object to is eBay imposition of the lowest shipping price which makes no account for the time it takes me to package each item, often up to 30 minutes if large, the packaging cost and the cost to drive three miles to the closest drop of shop. Am I meant to do this for free????  If I load this cost onto the item price it unfairly penalised the customers who collect. It also make my items uncompetitive to eBay sellers selling on non .co.uk eBay sites in the USA, Europe and Australia.      WHY CAN'T EBAY KEEP BOTH DELIVERY OPTIONS? SIMPLE DELIVERY FOR THOSE WHO ARE OCCASIONAL SELLERS (VINTED SELLERS) AND THE PREVIOUS FULLY CUSTOMISABLE DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR ADVANCES SELLERS WHO WANT TO OFFER DELIVERY OPTIONS TO THEIR CUSTOMERS? I have about 250 items waiting to list, eBay has always been my preferred selling site but now I'm not sure.

Yes I have Evri switched off and if I list a LL item under SD it allows up to 1Kg for £2.70.

On the RM online price list the only LL tracked 48 option is 1kg - ebay are price matching RM on this.

I'm unsure if you even need to pay the 30p collection with SD.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Then they really have made some changes here without telling everyone.

I'll create a dummy listing later and if I can send a cd Large Letter using RM48hr doorstep collection that's a minimum of 250g in weight for a maximum total cost of £3 in total I will have some thinking to do.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

My only problems would be i do not have a printer and with no transport I don't go to a post office and with RM doorstep collection they bring the label.

It should be possible as it is £2.70 for me on dropoffs. That's why I don't really have an issue anymore with SD for heavy LL or small/medium parcels under £100 if they are price matching RM.

Off the top of my head my main remaining SD issues are that:

  • 2nd class for 100g and 250g LL should be allowed in all categories for items up to £20 and I don't mind if ebay force the labels on us to stop people cheating the custom postage system.
  • The SD price increase for high value items should be at £150 not £100 to match Tracked 48 cover.
  • SD combined postage should be improved to stop it bumping postage up to the next weight/size if not necessary - maybe the seller should be asked which postage should apply before the buyer pays? A bit like how the buyer used to request an invoice.
  • It should be possible to combine postage on orders if the buyer has placed them separately to get one correct size/weight label and a prompt buyer refund.
  • There should be a method for a seller to change the label if there is a problem eg if they get a Medium RM/Evri label when they need a DHL bulky label and the seller pay the difference for their mistake.

Maybe others who use collection might comment but I think ebay support this and I might not even charge the 30p. I find it more convenient to dropoff at my post office. Sold 3 items today so I'll be there tomorrow.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I know I've been set in my ways for a long time but I'm a firm advocate of not changing something that works that isn't broken for no reason.

Evri is out of the equation totally and I've had 2 emails today from RM and Evri and the difference is quite spectacular -

Once again, please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of Royal Mail for the problem you've had, and our thanks for taking the time to make us aware of this. Please be assured that we take letting our customers down seriously and will use this information to make further improvements.

  We appreciate your feedback!

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for using Evri. We care about what you think and would love to hear about your Parcelhub delivery experience.

Your feedback is very important to us and will be used to help us to make improvements to the Evri delivery service.

The problem was that the seller chose evri not me.

Yeah I won't post with Evri either except perhaps occasionally on a low value medium parcel where they can be quite a lot cheaper than RM.

Ebay should drop the 'standard/express' and give the buyers an informed choice of whatever carriers the sellers offers. If the seller offers both then the buyer should be able to chose between Evri, RM, or Let Ebay Decide at different prices. In all cases if they chose Evri or RM it should never cost more than standard published prices.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I know ebay UK and ebay global want to make changes but the whole point should be what changes they want to make and how those changes are implemented.

Confusing users and not caring how users are affected is not the right way, especially when it comes to private sellers like myself and without thinking about what the knock on effect would be for buyers and small businesses.

You seem to be selling hundreds of different dishwasher parts. Are you sure you shouldn't have a business account in which case SD wouldn't apply? A business account isn't just for companies but also for sole traders who are buying and selling things for profit. An ebay business account is the right way to meet the consumer law requirements when trading on ebay. Private accounts are for individuals selling their unwanted new/used personal possessions.
