AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

@dunstun365 but they’ll pay it on V**ted, because the total cost, including BPF, is transparent, they have a wide choice of couriers, and its easy!

I'm out as well. What with "buyer protection" costs added to auction items and now the simple delivery con it's all too much. My sale items seem to be hanging around longer I suspect due to buyers knowing how much they're getting stitched with extra costs. It's a shame ebid are so terrible!

Is anyone tech savvy enough to run a program on this thread to see how many users have said they are not selling anymore? I got so far and it told me i couldn't use Python and my brain had no further capacity to start again with a different program.
It would be interesting to know without duplicates.

An Ebay "subscriber" I have bought and sold for 22 years. Today, attempting to list a traditional wooden trike bought for our son 46 years ago, used recently by his son as "Daddy's bike" our grandson is now 5. Attempting to list the trike,on completion of the details, I got ..."You aren't eligible to list toys for babies"....
Apparently, eligibility comes after 1,000 sales in the previous 12 months and/or £1,000 of purchases in that period, plus a business account. Fortunately, there are other platforms.

@daedulous These seem to be the places for them
in Collectables > Transportation Collectables > Bicycle

Same, due to the forced fraudulent nature of the posted options . . . the first listing where I sold an item where eNBay automatically changed my listing, I cancelled the order.
The postage is and am absolute sham

No wonder everyone's moving to Vinted. I'#ve been a seller since 2003 and I just sold something only to find out I have no choice in how it's shipped. Worst of all, it says to drop it off but doesn't tell me where or to whom??? What a waste of my time. I'm transferring all my listings to Vinted.

You have to have a chuckle though! E bay followed Vinted process in order to try and gain some of their customers and make lots of extra money through ripping off buyers with their postage rates! Instead what is happening is that Vinted are now welcoming e bay sellers into their fold!

I only use Evri on the odd Occasion the item is an odd size and needs to a cheaper so clicked Evri as the courier for one item and had not realized if all your listings that then change to Evri !! what a #

Yes - you can't even 'mix & match' couriers - it is either one or the other, or both - which means Evri will probably be the 'Standard' option offered to the buyer for most items. It is a poor state of affairs, when the buyer only sees 'Standard Tracked Delivery' and can't see what courier they are getting, apart from guessing by the price...

I spoke to a CS rep yesterday and they said the more people that feedback/complain, the more likely they would change how it works, so go do your thing!

It is really annoying that ebay no longer allow you to arrange your own delivery, because the VAT cost collected by ebay has to be paid by either the seller or the buyer, which either makes the payment received lower for the seller, or the item more expensive for the buyer.
For an item with a costly Parcelforce delivery this can add £5 or more to the seller's or buyer's costs. Crazy!
ebay should be paying all the VAT they collect to HMRC, so what did they gain by unnecessarily inflicting compulsory Simple (ha ha!) Delivery on sellers?

Presumably, ebay pay Royal Mail or Evri for the Simple Delivery labels, and you'd assume they pay less than what they charge for them.
So what ebay gain is a revenue stream. In effect a replacement revenue stream because previously one would have had to pay ebay a FVF on any postage costs - whereas now you are paying an inflated postage cost instead.

It is cheaper for small parcel tracked 48 by 7 pence! I suppose that is the size they get the most volume? As for profit in their pockets I read a post that suggested 40-60% of what they take?
01-09-2025 3:47 PM
The 3.8% FVF on postage costs was significantly lower than 20% VAT on postage costs.
ebay are now making a bit of money on my deliveries to buyers, and as sellers we are paying the price for that because of having to pay for the VAT on Simple Delivery charges.
I'd rather pay 3.8% postage fee to ebay and arrange my own Simple Deliveries direct with Royal Mail like I used to.

I have over 10,000 bookmarks sorted into categories (few are eBay).

Crikey I hope you have them backed up!
I figure if I can't remember or find a website then it's probably not worth going to.

I can see many sellers cancelling orders & leaving - I'll say again 'Well done eBay' (sarc)
02-09-2025 7:53 AM
Some friends have stopped using eBay because they find evri is so poor to use. I've received a few parcels later delivered via evri that were late to arrive.

It all depends on the Evri person you have delivering in your area.
We have a fabulous one so whilst I'd balk at using Evri as a postal option for selling not knowing who completes the delivery, I have no qualms in ordering from sellers using Evri.
As you and your friends do not have a clone of my Evri delivery lady, and your deliveries are falling short of being successful, then always ask a seller, to opt out of Evri for you and select Royal Mail , options are still limited for sellers under the new rulings of Simple Delivery.
