AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I have a feeling that this particular 'arms race' cannot be won, whether you force custom postage with a price over £10,000, weight of 3 tons or item length 100 metres. Or whatever effort it may have taken just to get to a point where you can select RM 2nd class large letter postage for £1.55?
A basic AI would work backwards from whatever postage selection you made and add the SD equivalent to your listing.
(Not saying Ebay's is smart enough to do that yet but it should eventually be)

The point is that there still isn't a simple delivery equivalent for oversize/weight items, if there were there would be no need for a workaround. It is good to see cash on collection being catered for again at last - it may be an error on ebay's part to include it but it appeared today as part of their 6th August changes.

That's a good point, thanks, will check for that

"I really do not know why there are people on here looking for loopholes to simple delivery It is in fact a abomination and a corrupt policy to have been shoved down everyone's throats it removes your freedom as a seller to choose your OWN delivery method For your OWN items Its disrespectful and insulting to every seller "
The workaround restores your freedom away from simpleton delivery!

Yes, I understand. Possibly SD will be expanded to fill that gap now DHL is onboard?
I was using your workaround for the SD-prohibited and low value items. But I have a hunch those loopholes may have already been closed.
'Collection only' items may get fewer views, so you probably have to find space in your title to say they're not only that?

What happens if a seller has paid for, and doesn’t use the label? Just sold
an item where postage by R.M. would be £2.00 Ebay have charged me £2.72 for
the postage label.
If I find that eBay do that to me I'll simply cancel the transaction and keep the item, and let eBay refund the buyer as they're so fond of eliminating sellers from the transaction.

Well, I have a bid with custom postage small parcel, with 4 days left. I just looked at it and eBay have changed it to stupid delivery, (thats after a bid but before listing finishes).

To be clear.
The DHL/EVRI, (New Proposed Merged Names being considered may allegedly include - EVIL), is not yet approved and won't be before end of September at the earliest.

Yes, DEviL comes to mind. Possibly DEvLri?
But could DHL itself be an SD courier option before then, just to deal with the oversized stuff?
@punzel9072 Yes, there's always that option. I forgot that one.

I just sold some thimbles from a multi variation listing. It was working really well before I added a few thimbles which changed it to Simple Delivery. A buyer has now been charged over £6 postage for 5 thimbles. There is no option to input the thimble weight on the listing, so looking at it Ebay has multiplied the selected parcel size by the number of thimbles i.e. 5. I've messaged the buyer prior to cancelling the order and I'm getting 'The buyer has reached out' rubbish by Ebay. I can't see a work around to this because Royal Mail's minimum parcel size is 1kg and there is no way I want to do 130 odd separate listings for thimbles.
I also don't see a way of avoiding this in future with other listings where people may want two items. Why put in a system where the seller can't check the postage is correct or adjust it?

Unbelievable that eBay will switch an item to SD half-way through an auction...!
I wonder when the switch happened - before or after the bid was placed?
What SD price and service has been 'selected' for you, compared to your original custom postage?

I'm sure it was saying £3.99 by postage, it seemed to be after I looked up about cancelling, I then saw it said flat rate by postage which means it's simple delivery. I broke one of the cups, ( but have a similar), so messaged to tell buyer. In case she wanted to cancel, I looked up how to cancel. The postage there says £3.99, (see right pic), but when I looked at listing later, postage had changed (see left pic). Both are small parcel. I took screenshot at the same time in case I need proof of anything later. You seem to need to watch your back now!

Very interesting, thank you!
So, your original postage of £3.99 has been changed to £3.38 Standard Tracked Delivery. Is the service the same, or has it been switched from RM to Evri?
Perhaps it was clicking on your listing to see about cancelling, that caused it to switch to SD? It seems if you alter a listing in any way, that allows SD to 'take over'... 🤖

I'm thinking of quitting too.
I sell £1.99 springs which I used to send with a 2nd class stamp on.
Now with the new fees/postage it comes to £5.15 a spring.
Who's going to buy that?
I want to send how I want.

I don't know, £3.38 is RM, and had better be, I have evri turned off. If they do change to evri, it will be cancelled!

that happened to me so i cancelled the sale and deleted the last of my items from the site.

Has anybody else noticed that payments for items sold have become available the next day? I sold some stamps at £1.73 plus 87p postage (custom) on 5th and the £2.60 was available to withdraw the next day (after I marked the item as dispatched), and yesterday I sold a DVD at £12 plus £2 postage (custom) and the £14 was available to withdraw after I marked it as dispatched today. I withdrew both amounts immediately. Is this a change of police I wonder, although I am still waiting for payments to be available for DVDs sold on 26/7, 30/7 and 1/8 (also all custom postage but apparently waiting for the 14 day period).

I got an Email announcement a couple of weeks ago saying this , along with lower BPF flat fee but a higher per £ rate of 7%
