AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I imagine it depends on whether you're getting notified with emails about those threads you've subscribed to and/or posted in, or because you visit here and see a little red bell symbol at the top right of the page. Of course if you use a phone rather than a desktop, I've no idea, it probably also tells you what Elon Musk had for breakfast.
Like you, I was brought up to be courteous. If someone holds a door open, of course I thank them. Sometimes courtesy means looking at the big picture though. If we all wrote thanks every time we got a kudos point, every thread would be a cacophony and useless. If you really feel you should thank for someone's kudos, there's a mechanism for sending a PM. Though, frankly, if I started getting a load of PMs just saying "Thanks", I'd get rather fed up.
Instead, the rule of thumb I try to use is to pause before hitting the post button. Have I written something that hopefully might add value for some people? Have I at least written something that might amuse a little (and GOK, in the present sh**show many of us could do with something to cheer us up).
Sometimes I include a suggestion to ebay that I hope they'll listen to and act on. Yeah, comedy central, eh!
By the way, some are blaming Eve W for Sucky Delivery. She's not the one who came up with it, that was Iannone. Maybe she could have fought against it, for all we know she did and failed. Unless you have some inside info on that.

This platform is fully controlled so don’t get too happy of who gets what. Its does not matter what you get, its what you say that counts. Good Luck. Yes people do get Kudos notifications when they give you a thumbs up.

I get a Notification on the ebay Boards page.
I don't get any notifications on my email.
Suggest you look at "Settings"

I use my mobile and all my notifications go into my spam box.
I glance at every one as there might be a useful post i want to respond to especially regarding SD or selling.
Apart from post notifications I also get notifications when I get a thumbs up.
It just makes me laugh when I see a post because someone doesn't like a post I make. Especially as that person doesn't know me or doesn't know why I posted something.
So it's just a opinion that I won't lose sleep over.
The ones suggesting I might have goals or targets are the biggest joke of all.
I am interested in things concerning private sellers and the mess that is SD.
They are what effects me.

When they start bringing in 'goals', 'targets', ulterior motives, hidden agendas, or other factors in no way connected to the original post, it's a sure sign that they have no sound argument against what you posted.
It's only a tactic to push the discussion slightly off topic but to avoid that they have no rebuttal to your point.

I have now got all my items on the other e site. May not get many sales as it is not well known but it is a start. If it does not work out then i will try somewhere else but i will not be back on here unless i can decide on how to most myself.
13-07-2025 8:54 PM
Very true.
Seeing a post suggesting I might have a goal or target for the number of posts this thread receives is pure speculation. Plus people giving thumbs up to posts etc can't be counted as a lot of them haven't posted yet.
I am happy that this thread helps private sellers to gain info regarding selling because of the lack of communication here and we gain info regarding SD which seems to change from day to day even after 3 months.
I might start selling here again one day but not while the platform is in this state.
I hope things revert back to selling being easy and fun.
13-07-2025 8:59 PM
I really don't blame you.
It's such a shame that you and many others have felt the need to go elswhere.
I genuinely hope things work out ok for you.
Maybe if a miracle happens and selling on this platform becomes enjoyable again hopefully you'll be back on here.

Sorry to crash the party but Ive sold about 3 items this month and with SD I can't find away to have Royal Mail collect my parcel from home....am I missing something or is it not possible!?
13-07-2025 10:26 PM
I see the original post is touching 500 on the kudos front.
Says it all about what the majority think of "far from" simple delivery.
It's utter tripe.

I think You have to get the label first then click on book collection

I not sure what the difference is between get and create your label but these instructions are not clear enough or maybe I’m being pedantic
but only mentioning because many people have had trouble with bookin a collection through eBay and getting being a label and maybe cos the instructions aren’t clear

Obviously I couldn't know whether you had goals/targets, but it does look that way, especially when you do posts like 'Thanks' that have no added value. OK, I'll accept your denial at face value though.
The reason I don't like such posts is not because I want to restrict freedom of speech. I very much welcome the thread you've created and I'm sure there've been plenty of things I've learned from it over the months. Because it's got such potential to be useful is exactly why I don't want to see it diluted with pointless additions.
Indeed I hesitated to make this post, it could be said to be pointless and adding no value. I'm hoping that if this one post discourages a dozen others, then it's done its job.

I hope you can see that my comments suggested most of those reasons, despite strongly supporting the original purpose of his thread. Far from pushing off topic I'm trying to get back on topic.

Tried to follow the instructions but gave up and will probably just print label off and take it to post office which is a bit of an inconvenience.....MY GOD EBAY YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO MESS PEOPLE AROUND....

Not good is it
take care
things should be simple and straightforward but they’re all so vastly different depending on x y z reasons
13-07-2025 11:21 PM
eBay have been down this road so many times.
They will ignore all the bombast and bluster that we create on these boards.
They also know that "we" will get used to their policy changes and things will go along as they have done before.
BUT, one time it might not work for them.
Every empire has it's day.

When the policy changes are negative for people those people will not use the platform
it’s in ebays interest and everyone else’s to not have negative policies or endless “glitches under reviews” for months some very dubious
need to get act together lol
i think you’re right this time is a titanic moment potentially

It was actually Milda Mitkutė and Justas Janauskas who came up with it and implemented it well and still use it to great effect on Vted.
It's not the idea that sucks, it is the farcical implementation!

Like a very boa constricted version of it
vinted are totally transparent about who the carrier is to both buyer and seller
they also have extremely competitive rates with an abundance of carriers
They have got their act together in many areas, albeit a few still could be improved!!
They don’t have custom postage for small light items like eBay does

Lench, you are always the voice of reason, how do you keep such a level head?
I have thought many times in the past how many people got to the top of the kudos table by simply saying "Ebay should crack down on Private sellers masquerading as business sellers" and suddenly within minutes they have 6 Kudos Thumbs up. And then they say it again on another thread and the same thing happens.
So Rugbyguy, if Kudos is what you really wanted, there were easier ways!
