AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I'm referring to second class though which is what I use.

I really don't see much point in paying £3.35 for second class when for only a few pence more you can send it fully tracked with SMS/email notifications to the buyer and enhanced cover.

Well, my piece of fabric, sold today, custom postage stayed, buyer paid and ending price + p&p is showing owed to me in pending. I posted the old fashioned way, (wrote address, which was as usual in "view order details", on large letter envelope, was passing a post office, took it in 2nd class, POP). Simple!!

I have just listed 3 items. After much faffing around and SD being forced on me i eventually managed to get back on custom postage 🙂
One item is a jewellery box.........forced into Simple Delivery. Changed the title and put jewellery as the first word and box as the last. Back to custom postage 🙂
Frustratingly i ticked the option Royal Mail only NOT Evri. Simple delivery (before i changed it) was offering RM and Evri grrrrrrrrr

You could be on to something there, jewellery is on the prohibited for SD list

and thats exactly what we do and ideally want to continue to do.
You just reminded me we have loads of vintage fabric to list

I have bucket loads of inherited jewellery so maybe thats the way for me to go. Just list that and nothing else 🙂
My mothers, my fathers, Glyns mothers and fathers and grandmothers and recently his sisters. I am OCD with collecting vintage jewellery.

Jewellery box looks nice 👍 might look for one for the wife when something sells.
No size measurements though but like the artistic photos taken off it in the weeds 😇

After listing these items I found I was able to switch them back to custom delivery one by one on the individual page.
However now if I select more than one of these items to edit in the bulk editor and change any attribute (for example turning off auto relist) it switches them back to simple delivery again, displaying the same message shown in the graphic above.

I get to custom postage by scrolling to bottom of package sizes, then it seems to let me do custom, (at the moment).

Mine seem to still auto-relist ok, some have just done it tonight.

The auto-relist itself is okay, but turning it on or off or making any other change on the bulk listing page is changing any selected listings back to simple delivery (I can still then change them back one by one)

I posted previously about my enforced SD experience not being any simpler (in fact being less simple in some ways to my usual preference of Royal Mail Tracked 48 collection with the label being brought along by the postman), and not being happy with the label having my full postal address on (which the Tracked 48 doesn't have).
Well, I emailed Ebay explaining this and that I would most likely be leaving the platform, depending on their response, and received my reply today ........ an obviously AI generated, rambling, repetitive, patronising reply that had got the wrong end of the stick and thought I wanted to send with only Evri and not Royal Mail. It 'explained' why SD was implemented and how it is an improvement - making it simpler, safer and more secure - all great, apart from it doesn't make it simpler, safer nor more secure for me. In practice, for me, it wasn't simpler (in fact, the opposite), and Tracked 48 is also tracked (the clue is in the name), and insured, so SD is not safer and more secure, plus my full address is not displayed, which is potentially much better for my personal safety.
In the email I was asked to reply if I had any further queries or concerns, so I have.

"It 'explained' why SD was implemented"
Did it say anything about it being a new "revenue stream" for ebay, because that's the reason the CEO was proud to announce.

It is not in weeds it is on a hedge lol I may try and take better pics outside as and when i get a minute

No, just how it was to streamline the experience, making it simpler to list and dispatch, and safer and more secure for both buyers and sellers

Not sure why people are trying to work with or around Simple Delivery, the only thing eBay is going to notice, if people stop selling....!

Sadly we live in a world where pretence, deception and insincerity have been normalised to the extent that companies no longer feel any shame in saying such things.
Ebay deliver whatever message is required to get people to pay them more money.
Calling them out makes no difference they just plough on anyway with their iron fists.
If they want more profit, even if it means making things unnecessarily hard or expensive, they should just say it because I would respect them a lot more for being candid and not cowardly hiding behind untruths.

The only crumb of truth in that is the more secure bit because if using evri then things being more secure is needed.
Putting a sellers full address on some labels is far from making it safer and as for making things simpler, I'm sorry but that is definitely not the case for a lot of sellers.

As if that kind of transparency is likely to happen here nowadays.
