AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

A fine example of a wasted thread.

As I said....if the Thread is hurting you that much ,then don't read it....
I have personally learnt, and continue to learn so much from it
I'm not sure why you are so personally invested in wanting to close it down.
As I have said, I continue to read the Thread everyday, and learn about people's experiences, and I'm pretty sure, alot more people are going to end up here posting about their experiences, and learning what I've learnt from the Thread.
To be quite honest, people telling you that, should be enough for you to realise, that it's doing good for some people

I have personally learnt, and continue to learn so much from it
As have I - but not in the same way as you.
OK, yes, it's doing good for those invested in it but what good will the thread do for someone new?
As I've asked, and nobody has answered, would you read it from the beginning?
08-06-2025 7:52 PM
It's the people who are telling me that, who make me realise I'm right.
There are about a dozen posters on these forums I pay attention to as they have a proven track record of giving good advice, and generating interesting conversations.
In the main, these guys abandoned this thread a long time ago. They had all given their answers, many of them multiple times, and they just got fed up doing it over and over again. There are still some worthwhile posters around, such as @*devils.advocate* and @1956glyn , but most of the content from other posters is now pretty worthless.
I drop in every day or two to see if there is anything new, but there rarely is.

I have already said in earlier posts that I have been slowly reading it from the beginning, but that is not the issue,it doesn't matter if I do or don't read it from the beginning.... This Thread does alot of good for people, so just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean it needs to be closed.....as I also said earlier, if I don't like reading something, then I don't read it, but I don't try and erase it so others can't read it and benefit from it..... I can't see why it should matter to you whether the Thread is active or not..... And why you are so invested in wanting it closed down
08-06-2025 7:58 PM
It might be pointless to you, but perhaps it isn't pointless to anyone else.... What does it really matter to you if the Thread is Active or Closed down..... If it bothers you that much....then don't read it....no one is forcing you to read it..... absolutely bizarre behaviour
08-06-2025 7:58 PM
Nobody suggested it should be erased.
There is valuable information in there. It's just nigh on impossible to find, and it's not getting any easier as more and more comments (including these ones, I admit) are added to it.

That's useful to know and may help a lot of people without smart phones or printers 👍

I think this thread has regular readers/contributers you have been following most of it and keep the conversation going, because it is a conversation. We are a group of people gathered together to discuss an ongoing issue. Those who are interested will remain and will continue to talk. There's nothing wrong with that. It almost looks rude if someone says people should stop talking or move their conversation elsewhere because somebody else doesn't like it.
This thread covers more than just info about SD and selling on ebay. It allows people to share their experience. As for people who are new to this thread, and equally people who are bored with it, - nobody is forcing or expecting you to read this thread. Just start another one if you have a specific question. It's not for you to decide to close this thread down. Somebody still has some use of it - surely this can't harm your feelings.

You don’t need to read Rugbyguy1960’s posting of this thread from the beginning.
Recent comments and postings of this long and worthwhile thread reads of what current and ongoing.
No one buys last weeks newspaper for todays news.
You state there are other threads of 60000 / 90000 replies … if there are any ?? then they have not had such a response over the short period of time this current thread enjoys.

I have already said in earlier posts that I have been slowly reading it from the beginning
Ah good, you'll be able to summarise the few good and many bad points of this atrocious sytem?
And who has said anything about erasing the thread?

Excellent posting

I don't think you are the only one as I have noticed people are still giving thumbs-up on my posts way back in this thread so I think some people are reading it like a book.
One of the problems is that the earlier posts still have the confusion and outrage at the crazy expensive RM parcel rates which they reduced a bit after a week or two and also got a lot better when they split small and medium parcels apart. There was also a brief RM 'price match period' that's now unnecessary to know about. There was no combined SD postage which now exists but there are some issues with it. People reading the earlier posts might not know that those issues have moved on and what they are reading no longer applies but I guess they will find out a few thousand messages later.
I get the argument that by having this megathread it contains people's outrage more than loads of individual threads but then it also acts as a monument to the extent of people's dissatisfaction and difficulties as a result of recent detrimental changes. As SD is still rolling out and ebay are likely to be making some further changes to try and make it acceptable then I would rather we keep the thread going if only for those like me that appreciate it.

I don't have to summarise anything.... I probably don't have the articulate intelligence that you have, I just think the Thread is very good for people, and will continue to be good for people to express themselves, but if for some reason I decided the Thread was no longer of interest to me, I wouldn't be so selfish or arrogant to take it upon myself to close the Thread because i thought it was no longer of interest to myself.....

You stated you wanted eBay to close it down (perhaps you will deny that).
Closing it down means stifling feedback and comments within this thread.
Once again you are in the minority.

None of us - you, me or anyone else - can close the thread.
That's for the Moderators of the Boards.
But maybe you could let me know if there's anything new being added - I'd be grateful.
Have a pleasant evening - genuinely.

NOBODY has suggested ERASING the tread, which is what you have accused two of us of doing.
Posters like you, who are completely unable (or have no desire to) follow simple conversations like this, are one of the principal reasons that the thread has become so worthless.

I really don't know what to say to you or your questions..... They just seem ridiculous, it's not for me to explain myself to you, or for you to explain yourself to me.....
I think the Thread is brilliant, and represents the true frustrations of people on eBay and long may it reign
And this is the last reply I am going to give you, if you don't like the Thread, don't read it..!

I apologise for saying for using the wrong word "Erase".... That was definitely my fault, and I apologise, I should of said "Ending" the Thread..... So I have caused that confusion.... So, no.... I don't think the Thread should be ended for all the reasons I have stated.... My apologies
