AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I don't think the app works now on an iPad but the screen is big enough to use the desktop site.
24-05-2025 6:51 PM
Oh that makes more sense then, thank you!

I imagine it's similar to the users with mobile phones who could no longer use the app, because their operating systems were too old to run the latest version of the app. This was certainly a problem recently with some versions of Android, so I presume it's the same with iOS. eBay can still be used on an iPad, you just need to have an operating system which is sufficiently up to date.

Where can I find this ? Want to read it.

Yes, the iPad app requires iOS 17 or 18. There is also supposedly an older version of the app available for those with iOS 16.

Why can't she access the desktop site on the iPad using a browser?

i was doing that but it stopped yesterday! So far they have not changed current listings (which i had to work around the SD they had imposed). Now if an item is not auto relisted I cannot do it with custom. Once they go then so i will I be.
24-05-2025 10:19 PM
Looks like it may soon be time to decide. When SD comes in will you continue selling on Ebay or stop? You've kept this a discretely-hidden secret for the last 3 or 4 months but the time is fast approaching when you'll no longer be able to continue sitting on the fence. 😉
I may continue for a bit but then stop, depending on how many workarounds there are and whether I can still remember them all?

I was about to do a household clearout, but instead have decided I can no longer sell on ebay.
Simple delivery is Anti-competitive, as it does not allow you to choose carriers that suit you.
It does not meet my seller requirements as a 3 day turnaround is simply not feasible in a rural area and you have a busy life.
What a stupid decision.

So Ebay is now stopping you doing the household clearout? I'll have to remember that one. 😁

I advise with ebay advertisng on gumtree but always sell though ebay for better security. Maybe they will pick that up and stop it as well. The delivery companies Ebay use for delivery I have had less than satisfactory experience of.Ebay clearly are not concerned at loss of private sellers unfortunately in my experience no other selling options are any way as effective as Ebay
25-05-2025 12:22 PM
Yeah, it makes me wonder who is actually responsible for refunding the Buyer is an item is damaged, the Seller has no control of the item being Posted if using the Simple Delivery system, and as the Buyer is paying a Buyers Protection Fee to eBay, then is eBay liable to refund the Buyer when refunding if an item is damaged

After you've sold your item, it's important to pack it securely, in the right type of packaging, to make sure it gets to your buyer in perfect condition.
Here are some tips on packing your items:
Choose a container that's slightly larger than your item, so you can cushion it with packing material on all sides
Tip
Allow space for packing material when you're choosing the box or envelope.
Some things are a little more difficult to post than others. Here are some ideas for packing irregularly shaped items:
These tips are general guidelines. We can’t be held responsible if your item is damaged in transit. Your postage provider may have specific requirements for receiving such items, so it’s worth checking with them before you send.
The last paragraph says it all.

And yet.... I don't believe eBays new Simple Delivery accounts for Packing Items well....

'The last paragraph says it all.'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed.
If your parcel does conform to S.D. terms and the carrier's terms (see the wonderfully comprehensive exclusion list above....) and your parcel gets lost in the post, Ebay *will* cover your loss! 👍
If it gets damaged, on the other hand ??
Can't help thinking ebay will be able to wriggle out of compo pretty easily.....

SD is total madness. I'm trying to relist an branded vintage umbrella which has a packed length of 90 cm. Impossible to select the correct SD option. One eBay agent says i should find out how much it would cost to send on a couriers website and then choose one of the options with a higher charge and the it would 'be OK'. Not if I print a Royal Mail label and they won't take it due to size. Another agent said I should just choose any option and that I could pay extra when I take it to be despatched. eBay itself does not appear to know their own system.

It is genuinely quite shocking that Ebay think this can of worms can be imposed on very reluctant customers
It should be flawless not full of flaws .
