AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

That wasn’t very wise of your post mistress. Not only is she out of pocket you cannot add stamps to a pre paid label. She should know.

Yes our little postoffice is privately owned and the lady there said the same ,people coming in with ebay parcels that are incorrect postage cost ,she said she has turned some away .she gets 9-12p commision to handle RM parcels etc but now with the SD she misses the comission on ebay parcels because the postage label has been bought via ebay . Our main post office which is in a WH Smiths they have been told to accept SD parcels and the staff in there said people are paying way over the odds for postage, but it has become very quiet we can walk straight to the counter no queuing where as before SD we would queue ,some days for 10 -15 mins or more and the queue would sometimes be nearly back to the doors of the Smiths store which is a big store too. So where have all these people gone ? Are they having home collection? ,I know that not all of them would have ebay parcels but we knew a fare few did and the EVRI drop of shop which is in a Tesco Express shop , we were expecting that to be heaving as there is only 1 label printing machine in there ,but no we have not had to wait to use the machine now it is up and running again . But the parcel sack can be sat behind the counter for a few days before it is collected .

Why are people still coming out with these silly post office stories?
It may have happened a few times in the early days of SD. But this has been running for a some weeks now. No post offices are coming across this issue for the first time now, and there has been plenty of media coverage.
They all know that they have received instructions on how to deal with these packages. (They may not know much about SD, but they don't need to; they only need to read the Horizon bulletins, which are available to ALL postmasters/managers - indeed it is an established part of their duties that they keep up to date with these bulletins.)
My own PO manageress informs me that, not only was there an initial instruction, but there was also a later reminder. Postmasters/managers have been instructed that they face disciplinary action if they do not conform with instructions.
It's not happening anymore. Those of you claiming it is are just trying to stir up anti-eBay sentiment.

How difficult can eBay make using the custom postage...tried to list an item and amend the postage cost with the Postage Policy thing they have now and its so difficult to use, I couldn't add international postage even after making a new Postage Policy (what the hell are they doing..am I missing something?) Are they making eBay so difficult to use that we're being made to leave, it was just so simple to list an item before and now I've spent half an hour trying to list with custom postage and its driven me round the bend!

I dunno what you mean. I dropped off an SD parcel for a friend earlier and the guy behind the counter spontaneously combusted. Gone. Nothing but a pile of ash. I know it was the SD parcel that did it, cos there was a pile of others on the counter that didn't have "marketplace seller" stamped on them that he had clearly taken in without a problem.
I got into my flying car and Beyonce and I got out of there quick smart.
I swear this is the truth.

Let me correct you, firstly wiganyankeeron, regardless of whether the customer paid for the stamps or not that is incorrect by your post mistress. Post offices are not allowed to make the difference up like that. Typically in the past customer would either have to buy a new label to the full value and reclaim the old eBay label back. Now as long as marketplace seller is printed she should have just accepted it.
forestfeline those are not the correct rates paid to postmasters for preparing labels. Regardless of whether an eBay label or not if your postmaster scans the item they DO get paid an acceptance fee. Admittedly about 3p compared to a lot more if it had been produced in branch.
But eBay obviously don’t care for small businesses like post offices and their support and survival from sellers on eBay etc or they wouldn’t be railroading this absolute shambles called simple delivery.

I've not seen any media coverage at all about the postage issues on selling eBay items. All I have seen on TV and heard on radio are eBay adverts saying it's free to sell on eBay. What I have noticed now is that there is never a queue in my local post office, which there often was at certain times, of people posting numerous eBay packages.

It's on MSN news today about the items that will not be subject to SD letter under £10 100g. There is a long list which i have posted above. I have actually put a few things back on as a relist and could use custom postage on them. If they change to SD as they are parcels i am not too concerned as i can still get the items collected by RM from me as i can print the label. Also i have reduced the price to reflect the buyer fee so maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel after all

Could be wrong but I don't think you can do international postage now with SD. All it says on their SD page is a buyer can pay for the postage to their international delivery centre but that's it, no idea what happens after that.
2 things they have to sort out, international shipping and combined postage.

This thread is all about stirring up anti-ebay sentiment. Perhaps eBay should start putting out more information about Simply Stupid Delivery. But silence, they couldn’t run a p**s in a brewery. They are treating private sellers appallingly, what with keeping money, and running the fleecebay scam called BPF. Of course these don’t affect you because you are a business seller! With all due respect if you are fed up with repetitive comments on a thread that you believe is far too long, then I suggest you start you own thread, and not join this one. Everyone has a right to voice their opinion without fear of getting bemoaned. And I wholeheartedly support everyone on this thread who is not happy with eBay; and they can say it as many times as they like!

Thank you for the great post.
I started this thread within minutes of getting the notification saying SD was becoming compulsory.
I didn't agree with it then and still don't agree with it.
SD should be a option so private sellers have a choice between RM direct or SD if they use evri etc.
It must finally be sinking in that they have lost a lot of private sellers selling and users buying.
But instead of trying to change things for the better the number of tv and radio adverts has increased which is surely only costing them more.

Its nothing new but its in todays 'Mirror'
eBay makes another major change to postage rules as it issues update to sellers

Plus not telling us anything! They used to keep us up to date with changes etc, this, nothing at all. It's unbelievable really.

I wouldn’t recommend that you may need to goto A& E banging your head against a wall…. 🙂
