AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

A reality is many buyers are also sellers . Sellers who will use Ebay to buy stuff to sell . It is naive to think private sellers are just purely selling their own stuff . I have always traded stuff to fund my own expensive hobby which are also the things I like to sell . Ebay has meant that I no longer lose so much money funding an expensive hobby
While BPF has probably knocked down sale prices as it deters bidders , the same will happen when you try to sell . I haven't bought anything this year with the thought of moving it on
If you disturb the balance on any market then this is what can happen . Its the difference between proper Economics and shear business greed . BPF is no different from so called tariffs , its a surcharge on trade and will kill trade and Ebay is a trading platform .
I get why Ebay would want to increase revenue and profitably but if you damage your core business it simple will never work and unfortunately those who currently run Ebay seem to know diddly squat about their own business and treat it as a cash cow that is in danger of being milked to death .
I won't be selling until at least the autumn, and if I were to sell on Ebay again I would have to know I have a decent chance of selling for a fair price . That will change what I sell and unless I am just getting rid of stuff to clear space , any lower priced item I.E below £15 is going to be more work than its worth. And that bracket is a massive chunk of the Ebay market

Went to my local post office this morning asked them about simple delivery parcels they told me that over the last 2 weeks they have had hardly any parcels for ebay and people have been saying they have finished with ebay and leaving, why ebay just make the postage optional for simple delivery and you can arrange our own postage from the post office which we have neen doing since when we started on ebay 20 years ago before everbody leaves ebay and goes to other sites.
And get rid of the buyer protection fee as sales have been dead for the last 2 months, as for me i don't mind being charged a fee for selling it's better than getting no sales buyer protection fee added on to your listing just makes your listing look weird when it comes out something stupid like £73.28.
i have been selling on here for over 15 years and ebay was a great place to sell but changes time after time has made it so stressful and harder to use and simple delivery is the last straw my days on ebay are finished like so many others we have all had enough, with all these seller leaving see how ebays profits will fall
will be going marketplace and carbootsales and fleamarkets lot less stress

That video, based on searching as suggested, is from nine months ago and predates the shambles that eBay have introduced in the last three months. So it doesn't seem relevant to the current discussion...?

I've had no emails either. Maybe we're not 'special' enough.

Apologies - the same search again has now given me the video that was being referred to. I'll remove my earlier post (if I can). Sorry.
Seems I can't remove it 😞

Which is also what the Bart Simpson socks on director of special forces read when he met Tony Blair before the Iraq invasion!

Noticed there's a new message that comes next to orders now.
*tracked and fully protected by eBay* or has that always been there? I can't remember seeing it.
Will see what the local postmistress has to say tomorrow, and she doesn't suffer fools gladly... thinking about it might see if the wife wants to go down there just in case 🤔

Our post office in Wh smiths ,has been very quiet since early march ,we used to go in and have to join a long queue ,but these days we can walk straight up to the counter ,and we haven't changed our times . But the staff also said that they too have had many people in who are giving up ebay because they can't cope with all the changes . My partner has tried SD with Evri parcels we don't have smart phones or printers so he has had to transfer the QR code on to his Galaxy tablet and take that down to the parcel drop off shop ,which is in a tesco express ,there is a small machine just inside the door to print labels out on but there is no where to put your parcels whilst you are printing ,so if you have several parcels it is very awkward ,the shop is small as it is, so not much room for people to pass by you so the whole process is not easy if you have several parcels, and making sure you put the right label on the right parcel . We were completely happy before writing addresses on parcels and going to post office and having them put the labels on the parcels ,so smooth and stress free ,this SD delivery is making a lot of work and it isn't SIMPLE .

Shows how clever they aren't...my listings only go up to the 20kg ,there's no overweight option.
I'm out of here anyway, but just for fun,I listed 'Panavia Tornado fuselage',guess most will know, but just in case,it's an ex RAF ground attack jet plane.
Is about 54 feet long,weighs roughly 8000kg.
Ebay comes up with delivery by Evri at £2.94.....
Wish I had one to send....

Maybe an unpopular and uncommon viewpoint but I’m happy with simple delivery… and I will tell you why
1) I like EVRI and always use them anyway, mainly because they have better tracking and I don’t have a printer so printing in store is good for me. So I was pleased when I saw Evri was one of the default carriers.
2) under SD you can edit your postage preference and deselect one you don’t wish to use, in my case Royal Mail.
(The Evri post place (Tesco’s) is nearer to me by miles than the post office and Royal Mail tracking is dreadful - I’ve twice bought thing recently which I have received item but the tracking still says weeks later “on way”)
3) post under SD is cheaper - nearly £2 in some cases of like for like “normal” Evri post, so the overall cost has dropped, off setting the Buyers Protection Fee to some extent (which I don’t agree with by the way). My sales have picked up since SD.
4) I don’t need to use my money to pay for postage while waiting for the buyers money to ‘clear’ AFTER delivery. I like, same as Vinted, that the postage money is invisible to the seller and never involved.
5) payment is quicker. If you use SD when it is delivered the 2-day thing is interrupted and you are paid immediately if buyers leaves positive feedback.
6) postage labels under SD are seriously quicker than normal Evri (which takes a log in, multiple screens and options and keying in and copying addresses and the like. I’m saving 5-10 mins each label.
SD Evri is slower than normal EVRI though. I have twice sold 2 things on same day that happened to be a mix of old post and new SD. Posted exactly the same time at the same point. On the first instance the SD post arrived 1 day later than the “normal” post. On the second occasion it was 2 days later but I received the money first due to positive feedback.
in short I like it.

This is all very well
i too am not fussed if rm postage is the same
But they’re deciding small cheap things over 100g must go at inflated prices because they have to be tracked as if most buyers are crooks
the roll out of it has been abysmal negligent and incompetent no one can say otherwise

All ebay users are bound to accept the scam of BP and SD. I agree with Lumlady.
