I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

How does it work if one doesn't have a Paypal account (and doesn't want one)?  Can a Paypal buyer pay to a bank account or do the transfer methods of funds need to align?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

This is not simple its madness, you only need to go to the label page (download QG code or open label) and it makes up as dispatched ? still had not printed label ? CS  said do not redo label as buyer may get refund ? but go back to orders in hub and go to postage labels and down load labels that way and i have and royal mail picking up tomorrow , what alot of ##. HOW CAN IT BE DISPARTCHED WHEN THERE IS NO LABEL PRINTED but they have also emailed one to me as well ,

As you didn't mark the item as dispatched I assume ebay must have done it and that may explain why they say on sd listings that the buyer will receive it in 2-3 days after purchase with no time taken into account for the seller to be able to post the item.

CS may mean if you 'redo label' = possibly means do your own, then the buyer will be refunded for the unused ebay one they purchased from ebay.

So you printed the label that ebay sent to you and then went to the royal mail website and arranged the item to be collected?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I accept PP, cheques and BACS transfers.  Never been paid by cheque and only once by BACS, but on the listing form there is, if I remember correctly, a box for "Other".  As far as I'm aware a seller can sign-up to any payment method they like, but it won't be integrated into the site like PP is.  The seller would have to send invoices and other paper work to get the payment.  I would guess the details are in the FAQs but as I'm a great believer in keeping things simple, I just go with PP.  As above, all my buyers except 1 have paid with PP.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

There's a 2kg - 10kg option there which I can't see when I look on mine. It just goes from Up to 2kg straight to Up to 15kg!!! 🙄 So if I send RM and it weighs 3kg, it costs £10.55!!!!! Where's that list from? Confused............

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I have just had a lightbulb moment although many have probably found it out already if they have had an order in the last few days when this blew up....I have absorbed that,  in the postage line...."buyer has paid for this postage...(as usual of course if you charge them postage)  will ebay be hanging on to it rather than pass it to the seller as before so you virtually HAVE to use the SD? & cannot use RM direct or you must send everything post free...eg included in the cost of the item?? Then what will ebay do? It means of course that the cost of the item is higher than the "big boys"  in my case the factory fed "we buy books"/Awesome/ Cotswold Library/Baham Books who sell around 2p over the price of OUR postal cost!!!, etc  grrrrrrrrr.  Or have I missed another point?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

But, if the post office, acting for RM, reject the parcel what happens to it?  We have to get it to our customer,  do we have to go back & start all over again hoping that a)  we get a refund for the erroneous label & b) we get payment for the new one. & can actually GET another one as the order will have been shifted to another space    OMG.

Someone else posted the sd postage price list the other day and I saved it.  I think ebay are supposed to be adding the 2kg-10kg option at some point.

If a simple delivery parcel has the wrong postage on it, i.e. wrong weight, the post office are still supposed to accept it, also the sd postage labels are marked with 'marketplace seller' which is supposed to signal to the post office that they must accept it.

I suppose the parcel should be delivered to the buyer/recipient as normal but I will not be handing over a parcel with the wrong postage label on it, in case it is flagged somewhere along it's journey to the buyer and the buyer ends of up with a charge before they can receive it.

The difference in postage for wrong postage labels are supposed to be paid by ebay as long as the seller has used their AI to choose the wrong label.  If we put our own weight/measurements in and they are wrong, the seller is responsible for paying the extra.

The other alternative is the seller can organise their own correct postage label instead of using the incorrect simple delivery postage label.  If the buyer paid ebay for the label they will be refunded if it isn't used.  If the seller hasn't used the ebay postage label they were forced to buy from ebay, hopefully they will get a refund if it is unused.

I wouldn't say this is all definite as things seem to be changing quite frequently but that my understanding of things.

It's in the Seller Centre help page for Simple Delivery.  Scroll down to the section titled:

Courier and postage rates

Which couriers are available and what are the postage rates?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

"I have just had a lightbulb moment"

Welcome to the Wonderful World of ebay 😏   As you’ve discovered, it’s free to list an item to sell, but the so-called Buyers Protection Fee which ebay adds to your list price and shows the buyer, means that your item become uncompetitively priced.  If you want to remain competitive, you may feel obliged to lower your list price, so in effect, the seller ends up paying the BPF.

And then Simple Delivery means the postages (which the buyer now buys from ebay) can cost a lot more than previously because everything has to go tracked now, apart from the exceptions to Simple Delivery.  But the list of exceptions keeps changing and even ebay staff don’t know what is excluded and what isn’t.  And as for combining postage for multiple items - don't even go there.

Don’t be fooled by the title “Simple Delivery”.  It’s double-speak for probably the most complex delivery system ever devised, and is not there to make life simple, it’s there to make money for ebay.  Good luck if you continue selling in this brave new world 🙁

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It’s marketing speak rubbish…well not all of it granted

the delusion is that people will trust it, or maybe they hoped because people did trust eBay now their trust pilot score is abysmal

the failure , which matters, is it not being tested beforehand

just chucked it all out there and hoped for the best

thats a bit desperate imo for won’t of a better word

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Any trust is Ebay is totally lost

Up until a couple on months ago I would have told any of my friends and family if they had anything to sell than give Ebay a try

However because of the appalling way Ebay have handled this and ridden rough shot over its loyal customers . I will tell them exactly the opposite

Obtuse , ignorant and arrogant are all massive understatements . I have never known any company to be so blinkered

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If someone asked me if it was great to sell on eBay I too wouldn’t tick the box

vinted asked me this

i gave them a 7 I think out of 10

They too have some problems but nowhere near this omnishambles

where the absolute basics have not been sorted

and too many nasty surprises awaiting people I might add

I try to keep balanced view and I’m not one to get off on slagging eBay off but this one’s a bit bad to say the least

you end up laughing at some of it

My local post office says all the ebay estimated prices are wrong and they're not accepting them...after 24 years I've delisted my items and gone over to Etsy
