AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Yeah I saw a couple fo those ebay have effectively stolen 20 odd quid from me for collection only items! ( to clarify my customer wanted combined postage and specified a courier they wanted me to use, which I was happy to do) I asked and apparently the labels we didnt ask for are non refundable! So I sent my items away for free at a cost to myself on top! Nice one Feebay

Awful
unused labels won’t be billed for surely /refunded
what do they mean non refundable!!!!!
so who keeps the £20 for doing nothing

Making me more afraid. I'm against this SD service but want to give it a try because we are forced to do so.
Will of course see how it works out.
Never had a buyer asking me to use a specified courier and will not do so. This new SD system will give buyers more choice but Royal Mail is the only option for me. End of story.
And losing money: hope there is a way to recover it from eBay.

Its the same response I got , I think its a standard response and you just have to wait and see.
A group who probably have a valid reason to make a complaint CMA about simple delivery are sub-postmaster as under the scheme they will no longer to able to sell postage to most Ebay private sellers whose preferred method is to take it to their local post office
It was bad enough before because they had to charge a higher price for selling postage than online whilst having to accet online drop offs
Now they will still supposedly have to accept drops off for a service they cannot sell to these customers
I think the CMA are likely to listen to what they say , I am not quite sure if the sub-postmasters are aware but they need to be etc

I agree, it reads similar to what I was told when I complained to the FCA about paypal. Neither talk about 'complaints', I told the agent about my 'concerns' about paypal's conduct. They made it clear that I wouldn't be updated, but gave me reference no. so I could add to my complaint if there were further occasions when what I complained about happened again.
I wouldn't be too concerned about the single digit ref. no.. We would assume '25' is the date but it's preceded by "E" which seems superfluous to 'CMA'. E25 could be the identifier for E-commerce or Ebay and presumably someone reads all incoming forms and changes some of the '0's to more detailed identifiers. They're remit isn't just about single companies, they have to be able to extract figures and reports about whole sectors of commerce.
The low number at the end might be specific to ebay in the last week but as part of a wider view of what is being done by tech giants exploiting their dominant positions in market places, it could just be the latest additions to thousands of others.
But you are definitely right that the more who contact the CMA, the better. They can only push for change if there is shown to be widespread abuse of current market practice.

Yes I guessed E was for Enquiry (as it's some kind of enquiry tracking system) and 25 was the year and I didn't notice it at the time but the reference appeared on the automatic original submission confirmation email nearly a week ago so I don't think it's been edited by a human. I'm just surprised that I ended up getting a single digit number on the end suggesting they don't hear from people often. Did others get single digit or low double digit numbers?

That reply from CMA ties in exactly with what their web site tells you to expect, ie they don't act on an individual's behalf, they don't update you, and they'll decide whether or not to investigate in due course. You've done your bit, that's all we can do 🙂

I emailed the CMA instead of filling in the form, because I wanted to send some attachments and I didn't want to get to the end of the form-filling process only to discover that I couldn't attach them. This is the auto-reply I got back.

I particularly like the phrase in their first paragraph : "We rely on intelligence from members of the public to help us tackle anti-competitive behaviour and protect people and businesses from being disadvantaged by unfair practices. " Good to know we have not been reporting our disquiet in vain.

That is a good point. Wonder if it's shared.

I've discovered that Simple Delivery T&Cs are not downloadable from the web site. This is what AI says:
While not legally required for all websites, having downloadable terms and conditions (T&Cs) is strongly recommended to ensure transparency and protect your business, especially if you sell goods or services or collect user data
It seems the only option in order to have a record of the current T&Cs is to take a screenshot so that you can compare them with the new T&Cs when ebay change them, as they surely will.

Oh you mean like joint enterprise
maybe

Someone on another thread said combined invoices are back, how true that is I don't know, (haven't sold anything for ages to be able to check)!

I created this and I'm not going to hide under a bush. If I have something truthful to say I'll say it especially if it helps someone else.

Even more things shrouded under cover. So it's the less hide as much as we can.

I think there's a system called 'wayback' or similar which will compare current T's and C's with past editions of same... and pick out what has changed.
(I'm not up with stuff like that but there's a poster on here called 'valueaddedresource' who is genius at picking out intelligible and useful bits of info from piles of biz jargon and bullsh**.
She used the 'wayback' thingy to compare T's and C's a couple of months ago. If you need more info on how this works, you could drop her a personal message?)

It wouldn't surprise me.

I've tried twice to post the reply I had from the CMA when I emailed them, and twice it's been deleted. It looked as if it had gone live because I could see the post number, so I don't know what's going on.
Edit. Maybe it's because of the links in the CMA's letter. I'll remove them and try again.

They obviously don't give to much away but I've no doubt that if you and others have contacted them it's made them aware.

yes i checked earlier and managed to send a few out, fingers crossed they have fixed something useful.
