AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I guess all we can do for now is wait and see. I am just really annoyed about the effect these diabolical changes will have on the vulnerable and those that sold to help their finances.

I've left up a single item to look at the postage rules later, really couldn't be bothered to do it for multiple items and fully expect ebay to fleece me if any didn't have the weights and measurements set up correctly.
I might take a look at some of the rival sites after Easter and list a few items just to see what the experience is like.

We posted some parcels today in a post office to see how the land lies and the woman behind the counter knew nothing about simple delivery .I know the PO is not connected to Royal mail ,but they handle the post for Royal mail so surely the post offices need to know what is going to happen

I don't have a printer and don't intend to buy one. I had a few posts on a previous thread that suggested become a business seller. I never have or ever intend to become a business seller because I'm not a business. Plus in the future SD will be rolled out to business sellers so they'll be no way of avoiding it.

I guess with the withdrawal of winter fuel payments people could always burn their ebay items for heat in the winter if they are no longer viable to sell due to excessive layers of ebay charges?

I too am absolutely at the end of my tether with eBay. I have swallowed every 'improvement' they have thrown at us................. so far.
I don't want to have to quit altogether YET, but I will be taking down virtually all my listings before the 15th and will wait and see whether they either reverse course or smooth out the problems I'm reading about here i.e. the forcing of the wrong sized parcel on sellers. Apparently eBay have negotiated with Royal Mail to accept these but the Post Office has not and would be penalised for accepting say a Large Letter label on a Small Parcel.
I have never till now even looked at other selling platforms but will be checking them out while my listings are down. I'm looking for one that does not dictate to me how I sell and send my own items.

There really hasn't been any sensible thought behind how many will be effected by these recent changes. Absolutely no common sense whatsoever.

I just read up about eve williams underling she has has worked for quite a few companies !!!!!!

As in potential rivals? If so, then this is truly more dystopian than I thought. They want to control absolutely everything: words, thoughts, our money, postage, carriers and sizes. Meanwhile making money on our money thus operating like a bank. At least with a bank you get a tiny bit of interest. Perhaps if their dream of high-end stuff ever comes to fruition maybe they'll drop the BPF as that would end up being a chunk on top but by then hopefully their reputation will be even further in the sewer.
In the meantime fleece sellers and fleece buyers.

I'd keep a eye on your lisings because apparently from the 7th onwards listings will be changed to make SD the option.

Same here, over 22 years on my main account, i liked the old ebay with fees as i didn't sell a lot of items, the ebay where i was the person doing the 'simple delivery' by having one postage option, with a fair price the buyer could see before buying, i've accepted the changes over the years, but this one has gone too far. What's it gonna be next? 'Simple Packaging' where ebay tell you how to package an item & what materials are acceptable? There is no way ever that i'm going to use Evri to send something, Please Ebay Scrap Simple Delivery & let the seller decide how an item gets posted. This whole thing is a disaster.

Since Feb they have made the worst changes I've ever known on here. I've gone along with the changes even though I did liked them until now. SD being compulsory is one Draconian step to far.

Yes from the 7th and some people are saying that it's already on their listings now and their postage has been changed one person now has to drive 16 miles because they changed RM to Evri. All mine were taken off long ago and will never be put back unless this ridiculous mess is sorted to my satisfaction (and i know it won't be)
03-04-2025 2:48 PM
They already accept labelled parcels from RM i have mine collected but i could take them to the P.O.

I managed to nab a parcelforce van driver who was delivering next door this morning, he didn't know what I was talking about and presuming he probably had some wrongly weighted items! Would he deliver them??
03-04-2025 2:49 PM
I didn't specifically ask that, but i would say no.......
03-04-2025 2:50 PM
From what I've seen posted buyers are buying less because of the dwindling number of sellers plus the introduction of BPF which is a farce.

I have yet to see any Buyer's reactions as no clear picture of what eBay are quoting. If buying I might be horrified or delighted!!
I'm a buyer and have historically spent more money on more items than I sell and think this is awful. Why would a buyer want to give Ebay an extra quid-ish on tracked48 2kg parcels? I cut my buying in half following the buyers fee and am now on total buying strike over this.
As a seller today I put my items on pause for a month while I progress my options elsewhere.
