A banner is appearing purporting to help sellers.
What a feckin' load of tosh.

Yes, I tried the AI description only once, it only seemed to pad out my listing title with a few extra words. It was nonsense and clearly didn't have a clue what I was selling, lol

Yes it`s REALLY annoying! Every time I go to my Seller page some idiot at eBay has decided to put banners all over it, and rearrange my page setup that took me ages to get as I wanted it, even more stupidity in that the option to `customize` the page has now, for some inexplicable reason, been removed. Not sure why anyone would even bother to click on that AI banner?

I’d like a ‘not interested’ option on that banner please!

Whilst I feel AI has its place, that place is not anywhere in my listings. I do not want meddling in something that I state what it is using identifiers that have been around for years and that my buyers also use. It does not need fancy/flowery/beefed up titles or descriptions. My items are what they are (assuming Ive not made an identifying error - it does happen occasionally, Im only human and lighting can sometimes affect colour shades) and all I need to do is mention faults Ive spotted. I don’t need AI for that. In fact AI could incorrectly ‘smooth’ things over which would result in unhappy buyers.
Yes let sellers know that AI is available should they wish to use it but please stop slapping me on the face with it every time I log on or at least give me a dismiss button!
Aside from this, I don’t trust ebay. If you start using AI, are they going to suddenly slap a fee on it’s usage? That seems to be the standard these days. A bit like promoted listings. Use it, then ebay changes the rules so you get more fees unless you change things fast. Then if you don’t use it, you get reduced sales. Ebay is too focused on getting revenue from everywhere other than the actual sale of items unless of course its a high ticket item that generates more fees anyway.

Just another developer and another day with another annoying, shove it in your face, change that nobody actually wants. Whilst people still have the abilities to think and write I would say they are more likely to give an accurate description of an article they wish to sell.

I tried it, what it created would of got me kicked off ebay.
To have AI you need to have a good dose of I in the first place, theres a worldwide shortage of I.

Thats the page I was getting on my business account when I was at the open event and they were talking about how good the AI was, a few of the staff that I know saw the funny side. If you are following the same link, the one for the ChatGPT on a private account you are denied as its a 'benefit' for business accounts, if you're doing it on a business account you need to contact CS and they can sort it out.
Really the AI on the listing page and the AI via AI Activate are 2 completely different beast, the one on the listing page is like asking a 4 year old whereas AI Activate is actually able to recommend decent advice and tips.

Hi @pegr-834437 So that cute little boy in the anorak is the chap writing AI listing descriptions - Makes sense now!
I love AI, Copilot is great and generally I use that over Google searches these days. He was teaching me to do some programming, it was amazing. I hope I'm not the only one who says good night to a computer bot? Or offers him a coffee break. Do you think he will start asking for money like those dating scams?
Yes, I was using a private account, so it is just Ebay making a fool of themselves by sticking banners on accounts that can't use it.
There was a piece on Sky news about AI doubling every 7 months and in 5 years time they will struggle to power it. That was may humble understanding of the AI bubble anyway.

Yeah I'm pretty sure its just eBay using the same code for business accounts and private accounts like when they do the youlend adverts.
I was just messing around on the AI Activate thing and noticed I was saying please and thanks to it, didnt know if I was just brought up correct or an idiot for saying thanks to a bot. The whole AI bubble looks dodgy, nobody is really making money, they are spending billions and its using more energy than we should be wasting but the money guys are making money (for themselves) so it'll continue till it bursts.

I always use manners with AI, Alexa etc and particularly the dog!
I don’t think there is anything negative about it.
It’s a language that comes naturally to me so if future generations are just going to instruct AI won’t that translate into everyday communication?

Judging by the requests you get from some buyers that don't amount to more than a few words like 'where's my stuff' 'item not arrived' 'where is it'- I think that particular horse has bolted already.

Same! I thought it was just me.
