So we all know that one of the reasons these useful forums are so little known is because ebay moved the link from the top to the bottom of the page, years ago.

Now it's been 'improved' even more.  The front page, no matter how far you scroll, adds yet more listing pictures.  So you never get to the links across the bottom of the page.

It's not only the front page, it includes every item listing too! Any link situated at the page footer is almost unclickable as a result.

The law of unintended consequences in action.

EDIT: I imagine this change will have legal ramifications, since much of the footer content is a legal requirement (jurisdiction dependant).

I noticed that a while ago.  I gave up scrolling at somewhere around 100 ads. and just thought I hadn't reached the end of the page yet.   As I was trying to do a short-cut I decided it would be quicker to go the "long way".

But yes, it is typical ebay, they hide the "Community" link at the bottom of the page, usage drops so the Community Team has to hand out labels and badges to try to encourage more use.

Why didn't they just move the link back to the top, where it was for many years?

It's not as though there's any shortage of empty white space up there.

Now there you go again applying common sense and ebay in the same sentence -  Will you never learn !

I think ebay tolerate the forum to be seen to 'give the members a voice'  which they do not really want to hear ! so what better way than bury it and blame the members lack of interest when it all but disapears !

Was that really to encourage more use?  Or to dumb it down?

There is so little participation here, relative to the total user base, that they've succeeded.  Anything said here can safely be brushed off as unrepresentative.  The only purpose it serves is as a free substitute for the Philippines for users with problems.

....'free substitute for the Philippines for users with problems.'

It's nothing like the ebay Philippines base...... most of those on *here* tell the truth and give helpful answers! 😆

I get this never-ending roll of ads intermittently & have done for some time now - they tease you with a stutter every so often, only to hit you with yet another roll of unwanted items.

I click on 'help & contact' now which is a shorter scroll to get to the community link.

I'm sure that encouraging more contributions was a reason given when I was awarded my "Specialist" status and a whole chest-full of badges.

It doesn't seem to have done the trick.

My last reply on this thread was at 7:42 yesterday.

Came back about an hour ago and hardly anything had changed for 12 hours over-night.

Apparently ATM, which I would have thought would be a busy time of day, there are 776 members on-line spread across all the Community boards.

Another reason for so little participation is that, according to another regular, anyone clicking on "Ask the Community" is taken straight to a Question & Answer board where discussion is not encouraged and brevity is.

So perhaps you're right about dumbing-down.  Yes / No answers to questions are encouraged (and save ebay employing more CS staff?), but Discussion about why those questions had to be asked is shoved into the shadows, out of sight, out of mind and made difficult to find.

Just click on your name in the top left corner, then account settings. That page has the footer.
