Leaving after 22 years

After 22 years of buying and selling on eBay I have taken the decision to delete the account. It is no longer possible to send items through ebay.

Re: Leaving after 22 years

Yes, I think quite a few of us are finding selling on eBay increasingly difficult to manage... so many changes to keep up with... always having to be aware of what's going on with your listings... trying to avoid all the possible pitfalls whilst continually worrying about what might go wrong. It feels like a major achievement to get an item successfully sold & safely delivered - and hopefully not returned weeks later... 😱

It's not a very relaxing pastime these days!

Re: Leaving after 22 years

It has got harder, I think as much because of economic conditions as eBay's admittedly wacky fiddling. I need to shift my stock before I retire in 18 months or so, and eBay is still, by a long way, the best platform for me, so I'll be sticking around.

I would say to the OP. Don't close your account; just leave it - you may want to come back in the future. I can appreciate your model plane may have been awkward to post, using Simple Delivery, but most items, including the jacket you also sold recently, are much more straightforward.

I've still got a couple of thousand to list, then I'll pack it in. It won't be worthwhile once I get the state pension.

Re: Leaving after 22 years

2500 brand new items on a private account.  That's more than I am allowed to list while paying for a featured shop, plus FVF's. And you are competing with and undercutting genuine registered business sellers who are selling similar items. But at least they give their customers their consumer rights.

You can list more than 2500 on a featured shop. I list more, you just have to pay 6p listing fee.

Re: Leaving after 22 years

And that's the point. I pay £92 per month for my listings and have to pay more if I want more and yet the seller isn't paying anything and no FVF's either. You can see why genuine registered businesses get upset.
