I werlccome ebay's recent cancellation reasons for buyers and protection for sellers.
However, there needs to be an additional reasons for seller to cancel an order such as:-
1) Buyer has not responded to or provided additional info requested in the listing. (this might happen with vehicle parts if the seller needs more vehicle details.) or
2) The buyer has not confirmed part compatibility with his vehicle. (recently had this happen and the buyer then claimed "not as described" to avoid paying the return postage.)
3) The buyer is behaving in an unreasonable/impatient/agressive manner or the seller suspects a false return reason will be used to avoid return postage costs.
I find ebay is not looking after and protecting top rated business sellers as much as it should.

For reasons 2 and 3 you'd report the buyer for abusing eBay's returns system (select the reason 'You believe the buyer is making a false claim):
I'm not sure what reason 1 means - do you mean that the buyer pays but may be unaware of something to do with the item they're purchasing?

I have been waiting 70days so far for ebay to refund my postage and was told this week, to allow 90days.
Had the buyer been required to confirm compatibility, he'd have no grounds for a false return reason. He also left neutral feedback which ebay have removed after telling me they wouldn't.
Reason 1 is simple - some listings need the buyer to confirm vehicle or compatibility but often they don't, or have clearly bought the wrong item. I'd like to advise the buyer and cancel the order myself rather than miss any delivery estimate waiting for the buyer to respond with the essential information. At present I'd have to claim an address problem if the buyer won't request cancellation.

To prove my point. A buyer bought the wrong item but never asked for cancellation so I had no choice but to choose "out of stock or damaged". Now I have a Transaction Defect when I am entirely blameless.
I could have used the address problem but this wouldn't be correct either.
Come on ebay, start protecting your 20year top rated sellers.
In the meantime, I have closed my ebay shop - not paying you £32 a month when you aren't delivering the sales.
