Is special delivery available via eBay simple delivery?

I plan to sell a gold coin worth approx £780.

In the past I offer free delivery and start the auction at £1.

At end of auction the coin finds it right price (aka about £780 in today’s gold prices).

When creating the listing I show delivery as special delivery (Royal Mail next day prior to 1pm) and post as such at end of auction.

I presume with the new simple delivery that eBay will let me select RM special delivery at end of auction and then charge me the cost? And send me a QR code I can use at PO to print the address label  / postage at counter?

Previously I would have bought the postage online at RM and got emailed the QR code by them.

Re: Is special delivery available via eBay simple delivery?

Simple Delivery only insures up to £750 and does not use special delivery. Gold coins may be exempt from using simple delivery which will be evident while constructing your listing.

Re: Is special delivery available via eBay simple delivery?

Special Delivery is not available with Simple Delivery.  Seller puts in size/weight parameters and buyer chooses between the options offered by ebay.

Sellers are normally covered for loss or damage in transit with SD up to £750.  However, gold coins are excluded.

If you started at a price higher than £750  you would be able to opt out SD and choose your own postage.

Re: Is special delivery available via eBay simple delivery?

There is actually no cover limit for eligible items sent with Simple Delivery.  Items are protected for the full amount they sold for.

To be eligible the item must have a Buy it Now or Auction start price (not end price) of £750 or less.

However, both gold and currency including bullion are on the prohibited list. so you should be able to list with custom postage.
