The way to see if eBay is dying is to look at their Company figures. Because I was wondering why it gets harder and harder to do business on here not always caused by eBay sometimes in eBays response to outside issues.
On the other hand as a seller I felt punished by fees to the extent that I felt that maybe eBay didn't care if I left as a seller. I looked into it instead of assuming an answer or taking an answer from a guesser.
I had to look from the angle of why eBay may not care if it looses SALES, SELLERS OR BUYERS from it's platform. Well it all comes down to the bottom line and that is maybe there is less sellers, Less buyers and less items being sold but the strategy works for them because there is not less profits for eBay it's really that simple.
If you think it is anything more complicated your wrong.

I stopped selling several months ago for all the much debated reasons. The knock on effect is that I'm buying way less. I don't take a punt on things anymore. Ive deleted all the business sellers I used to follow and buy from.
The platform itself I find increasingly unstable. I'm forever having long on problems. Unexplained glitches are on the up. Postage costs change at random on watched items
Lack of choice as well. For what I use and collect, a lot has just vanished or have rocketted in price to the point where I'll shop elsewhere or go without.

Business sellers pay fees

eBay has turned to absolute *bleep*e lately. I've heard more than once eBay are trying to be the equivalent to Amazon.
The giveaway to that is they're forcing upon private sellers the whole postage debacle.
No longer can you choose the courier - e.g UPS / Parcleforce etc.
It's also fraud - eBay modifies your listing (you have no control over that). Advise to buyers and charge them posting but then don't pay the seller for posting.
Calling their so called customer services.
So hidden away in the T&C's - if eBay purchase the wrong label and Royal Mail charge them, eBay will take that cost out of your fees. Like you had any control over eBay buying the wrong label.
Any printing the label, packing the item, taking to the post office - you pay for that. So eBay have charge the buyer for postage yet you, the private seller have to buy the packaging and time in sending!

I wonder if Ebay has had a large injection of private equity in the last couple of years.

We are a business seller and hae an eBay shop. The past two month have been terrible. What we sold here doesn't even cover the cost of the eBay shop.

To be fair, the last month since eBay have forcibly changed their system, I've stopped buying from eBay.
Everything is mutual - if eBay is making my life difficult selling, why on earth would I reward them with buying.
I have heard from multiple people now eBay are trying to become the equivalent of Amazon . . . which doesn't bode well for business sellers!
