If a buyer has demonstrated that they are trust worthy without any issues and they have a history of being a trustworthy, honest seller then after x amount of time and/or sales and/or feedback the fee's should decrease and/or eventually dissappear.

 

If the fee's were purely about buyer protection!

THESE FEES ARE PURELY STEALTH FEES ON SELLERS GUSSIED UP AS BUYER PROTECTION!

What you are suggesting sounds like *Seller* protection from bad buyers

 

It doesn't make sense

 

For something to be Buyer Protection is has to protect the BUYER

The new buyer protection protects BUYERS not sellers  (well actually it protects sellers as they no longer have to refund the buyer for lost or damaged items).

The proof of the pudding, as they say.

 

And if I'm I reading this correctly, eBay inflates the seller price, doesn't show this increase to the buyer, but the buyer, not the seller, is handing eBay a fee that they have absolutely no knowledge of?  And that gee is paid to eBay.   It will certainly be interesting for business sellers who buy from private sellers to sell on, explaining to HMRC this invisible fee when submitting it as a business cost (which it surely must be) in their tax return.

How can it be a "Buyer protection Fee when it is the seller that has to stump it up ? once again Ebay push themselves towards commercial suicide trying to fix something that was never broken , If they think in this economic climate i am going to send out my goods without payment on the off chance  someone might pay for it once they receive it "Then Dream on "NO PAYMENT ,NO GOODS ! its as simple as that  & if that means leaving ebay then so be it, how many shops let you take the goods home & pay for them later ? This is so open to abuse it doesn't bare thinking about, especially as once the buyer has your goods free of charge ,they only have to say something is wrong with it ,damaged , not as described etc & then you as the seller has the choice of paying the return postage or letting them keep it 

I will continue to sell ,but will not dispatch anything unless its paid for & if that gets me thrown off after12 or15 years ? Ah well so be it

Im not interested where it is displayed only who is expected to stump up for it as they say it will be in the price the buyer see's so that to me means the seller has to up the item price or suck up the 4% plus a 75p standard fee
Ebays own words : "Buyers will pay up to 4% of the item price, plus £0.75.** For example, when they see an item for £20, the fee of £1.49 will already be part of the price."

Read the terms - the new 'Buyer protection fee' covers buyers being able to ring and speak to a human 24/7 (or start a chat). That is all.

Lost or damaged items will still be covered by the MBG, same way as they are now, or will be after Feb for business sellers.

Claims for lost or damaged items are nothing to do with the 'buyer protection fee', and there is only a difference to claims if the seller uses Simple Delivery. Then ebay have to do the task of claiming for lost/damaged items. Before if I sent a £10 item and it got lost in the post I would have to refund the buyer, then go to the bother of battling with the courier to make a claim. Using SD now, I wouldn't have to bother with claiming, ebay would do that. But that is currently, we don't know how it will pan out when it is forced.

Not exactly true - the items you have sold will be paid direct to eBay... 

 

The seller will have no funds available until  48 hrs after confirmed delivery ( longer if there is another issue raised) 

 

Basically paying to post ( unless using managed " simply" shipping and eBay providing the pre-paid label as the buyer choses and pays for what service they want directly ) and giving away your items until eBay algorithms "approve" your funds to be released.  Either way your items can be in the hands of the buyer for 2 to 14 days before you actually receive your dues.

Can't see me sticking around ,ill have to look at other selling platforms,
i used to list around 450 / 500 items when it was 1000 free per month (unless it sold) some were very slow movers , as soon as they cut it to 300 all those slow items had to go & i ended up just listing about 75 items three times a month for 10 day duration
