If i set up to sell an item I normally configure the sale to get the Buyer to pay for the postage. I use the ebay postage options to specify the carrier and the type and amount for the postage.
Now I have noticed that the Buyer has managed to change the option so they specify the Postage Carrier, type and cost.
Normally, this hasn't bothered me, but now it is beginning to, as the price they use is lower than the quote I get from eBay.
So how do I fix this?

You say that the buyer has managed to change the postage option. Is this statement based on the 'Buyer Selected' flag you see when you go to buy an eBay postage label e.g. you state 2nd Class on your listing, and the flag is on Tracked 48?

You cannot buy a Postage label before there is a confirmed Buyer?, so I will pay more attention next time. The ref is second class on the listing, I'm not sure where that is, as I have paid for 48-hour Tracked.

There are lots of similar threads at the moment
Sellers have thus far been dismissed as them being the ones who made the mistake
Not sure this is the case
There are too many "buyer chose a cheaper postal method when I only specified one postal method and now I will be out of pocket" threads for this to be ALL the seller fault.
Not sure what is going on but there IS an issue that has been bought up a few times over the last couple of days. You are not the only one this is happening to.
The lesson seems to be, do not buy your postage label on eBay
Buy on the RM website or at the post office to get the correct postage label and cost.
eBays system is clearly glitching

Your listing shows 48 tracked by the way
No other options are offered
So the buyer can only buy tracked 48 if they buy your item
The problem is eBay have changed the postage label, NOT the buyer.
You don't have to buy postage through eBay, you can pay it at the post office and send for your advertised cost by the method you advertised (in fact you MUST do this - sending by another service can upset buyers)

The freepost option on my listings is 2nd Class. Often, when I go to print the label, the 'Buyer Selected' flag on the T48 option. The wierd thing is that I don't offer T48 as an upgrade option - only T24.
I then have the aggravation of expanding the services and selecting 2nd Class. Interesting to learn from OP that this is a common problem.

Thanks for the response...do you ever see ebay moderators on these forums??

@the-nutwood-collection Looking at some of your listings, "20g | DHG Merino Wool + Tussah Silk Roving | Felt | Spin | Fibre Art" and "DHG | Pure Silk Pongee Bias Ribbon | 25mm (1") | Metre | *MULTI-BUY*" for example, Royal Mail 48 is the default freepost option.

Royal Mail 48 (the option on my postage policy) is equivalent to 2nd Class. Tracked 48 is the 'Royal Mail Tracked 48' option on the drop down.
I'm sure my postage policy has changed since I set it up. The 'Royal Mail 24 Tracked' option has disappeared.

Hi jowill_3982, thanks for your post.
Could you please confirm the item number for 2 or 3 transaction where this happened, so I can take a further look for you?
Thanks for the tag myriad*seller.

Hello,
The current sold item has been
405309671806
And then earlier this year I believe the following were impacted.
404883719132
404974797167.
On these earlier occasions the buyers paid for Postage higher that I charged so I had to go through hoops paying back money that was not recognised as a product default.

marco@ebay it isn't just this seller
Other sellers are complaining of the same
See the other threads on the subject
All of them have ended with seller being charged more for the postage label that the postage they had on the listing (and not because of Highlands and Islands)

Lovely, thanks for confirming, jowill_3982.
I've just reported that for you, and as soon as I get any updates on this, I will post back here to let you know.
Thank you,
Marco

just to let you know it has just happened again on my most recent Sale order number 19-12277-70946... I decided to use Evri to see if the issue is different to selecting Post Office and it appears it is. The buyer paid £5.64 which I was quoted but now on the ebay postage I only paid 2.94 so how does the seller get his money back???
