How to mail separate sales in one package?

I want to sell some game tiles individually. Each tile will easily fit into Large Letter format so I can mail, say, a dozen in one envelope. If people buy multiple tiles I would like to send them all in the same envelope but each purchase will generate a Simple Delivery prepaid postage label. How can I send them all in one envelope? There used to be a Flat Postage thing which made this so easy but it seems to have vanished.

eBay say:
"If your buyer has purchased more than one item from you in a single transaction you’ll receive one prepaid label to post them all together.   If your buyer has purchased items from you in different transactions you’ll receive postage labels to post each item separately."

But people are still having problems with it so best thing is to add to your description that any buyers wanting to buy more that one lot should let you know first.   Then you can relist those items into one listing with one postage cost.

So if they add multiple items to their basket and then pay in one
transaction there will be one label and I'm guessing I refund them the
postage afterwards so they only pay for one set of postage? Or does eBay
default it to one postage amount?

But if they buy and pay for one item and then repeat the process they'll
generate postage labels for each item? Which is not what we want as it's
all going in one envelope?

Combining made possible when bought in a single transaction is the theory but judging from the complaints I don't think it's happening in practice.

You have free delivery on your listings so you're paying the postage, not the buyer.    If you select buyer pays they automatically get a refund for any unused postage labels in 30 days.

I would put the message in your descriptions to contact your first and hope they do that before buying.

And that works with auctions how ?

How about fees involved ?

Do ebay pay the sellers compensation for having to mess around and relist as a single package, and how impressed with the platforms 'professionalism' do you think a buyer will feel when they are maybe wanting an order quickly,  due to a very poorly designed 'new process' ?

Yeah, I'm going to have them pay for the postage for these and not list it
as free shipping. Hope everything goes okay. EBay used to be so easy to use
but has become increasingly obscure and intrusive, always promoting you to
do this or that.

@ganjeepers

As buyers are generally keep out of the loop on ebay changes , make sure they know the motives behind why you will be having to be charging them postages.

I have separate orders I just put them in one envelope but then again I do have free shipping on mine. And then add a tracking number on each order on eBay

I’ll be doing the same soon when I can be bothered to set up a laptop I bought in November still in its box

How to mail separate sales in one package?

On a related note my buyer told me he would be buying several items from me and asked if I could combine postage. I said OK. He bought 3 items but paid for the first one separately.  So basically I had 2 postage labels sent to me by ebay but I only used one. This means that my buyer is wanting to be refunded the unused postage on the first label and that ebay is chasing me because it thinks I haven't sent the first item. Is there anything I can do? The automated help thing is completely useless.
