Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

OK so listing some items tonight

good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates

bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really? 

This is from ebay itself:  You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.

I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

I beg to differ. I order many goods from other shops. EVRI has delivered to wrong addresses, left parcels outside, even items broken.

i agree. I will never use EVRI to send anything, their delivery service to here is horrific. Its a block of flats, with an entryphone, but EVRI leave parcels in the street, outside the front door, they don't bother ringing he bell but dump things in the insecure lobby. We even have a sign in the lobby now waring that things left there will be stolen,  but they send so-called delivery photos showing items abandoned right by the sign.

Trying ti g and get the item as fast as possible often doesn't work, 15 minutes and they are stolen - sometimes so fast I even wonder if the ERI guy is taking them. 

No other delivery service seems to have this problem.

No. SD is not cheaper than Vinted. The prices that someone here used for comparison isn't the prices I see when on vinted. Because you have many options for delivery services on there. And its even more cheaper if you have it sent to shop or lockers, which is more convenient for me.

Evri completely suck, there's so much dodgy workers stealing items there. They take on RM deliveries and Evri have to bring in agency staff. These people steal the parcels. So I'll never use them again.

Someone said that ebay now take responsibility for delivery. The thing is, that people pay 'buyers protection' for this reason. Even before that it didn't make a difference because if an item goes missing, ebay would step in to force a refund.

The only reason ebay has themselves contracted with evri and RM is that they are taking a cut from the postage you pay. Ebay will have business rates with RM. So when you buy your label for £2.70 say. You're not directly paying RM. You are buying an already prepaid label from ebay that bought the label for less. They are acting like a travel agent who sells you holidays they bought. Only ebay sell you postage labels.

When you get switched over ( which started on 06/08/25 ) to the latest listing fiasco  I have a new workaround - https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/How-do-you-list-anything-bigger-than-61cm-Part-two/m-...

This is yet more faffing around but works - I have listed with it.

It is all thanks to Rick who has devised the workarounds. I'm just helping to spread it 🙂

We have our own website that we enter our items onto, and use a plugin to sync products and orders to/from Ebay; we don't sell enough to warrant switching to a business account, but we like designing and creating our own products and making a few pounds a month selling them, and everything is declared to HMRC!

We live in a rural area of an island that has NO Evri service at all, and we have no local post office here either; we also have no car and our nearest post office is a 40 minute walk each way, which isn't ideal for a disabled person with mobility challenges!  So we had our Postage Policies all set up for our particular situation, and now we don't seem to be able to configure even ONE of our listings via either the website plugin or the Ebay website to use our carefully configured postage policy; it just seems to be forcing us to use Simple Delivery, which ONLY offers either Evri or Royal Mail, NEITHER of which we can use here.  

If anyone knows of a way around this, we'd be very grateful please; or we might just have to accept that our little enterprise isn't wanted by Ebay any more, and we'll look for a Vinted plugin instead and start selling on there... 😁

You are aware that you are trading, even if it is still a small business, so I think you must be perfectly aware that there is, for you, a very straightforward way around this.

Business sellers don't have to use Simple D.elivery
