Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

OK so listing some items tonight

good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates

bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?

This is from ebay itself:  You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.

I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

I'm afraid it means the seller is billed for the simple delivery label at ebays standard tracked rate. Unless the buyer selects express delivery, then the buyer pays it.

From 6th August you don't have a choice - it's mandatory. There is no Post Office within 5 miles here and the only option is to get the postie to collect for 30p every item - I sympathise. The only option eBay give is to put 30p on every item but that's usually enough to put potential buyers off.

If you book the Royal Mail collection through eBay, which is now an option with Simple Delivery, then there is no 30p charge.

H @kitchoct57, all your items as far as i can see are free delivery in 3 days. You need to search for your items as a buyer to see what they see.

You may have been switched over to SD, but you are still paying the postage and Tracked 48 will be an option.

Presumably selection of postage option is your choice if you are paying.

Does know if that is the case?

EBay will still provide a prepaid label so they will choose the postage service.  You can choose to opt out of either Evri or Royal Mail (but not both) if you wish.

Alternatively, you can use your own postage service instead and then request a refund of the unused Simple Delivery label.

The buyer would get refunded the label they buy after 30 days if you don't use it and send your own way.  I'm not sure if changing the tracking number is possible. Or follow Rick's advice, post 632. What a pain in the proverbial all this is!

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Thank you-I have complained to their complaints department and said I will not be selling any items on ebay until they stop.
It seems an awful lot of effort to get a couple of pounds for an item.
Vinted for me - so much simpler.
I've had lots and lots of emails and am trying to make a file to send to them.
Thanks for your advice.
