OK so listing some items tonight
good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates
bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?
This is from ebay itself: You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.
I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

Well what a pleasant surprise this weekend. I end and relist all my items as "sell similar" every Sunday. Ebay still haven't caught up with me and forcing me to use SD on my selling account, but I have had to change all my listings from SD to advanced settings when doing this over the last few months. However on Sunday I didn't have to do this as all my listings on my selling account stayed on advanced settings when relisting.
It would be nice to think that maybe ebay were quietly doing a bit of backtracking on SD, but I doubt it somehow and at some point in the not to distant future I'll eventually have it forced on me. However when that day comes I'll be off.

I'm on today and it's no longer giving me the opt out option. Simple option only.

Me too since nearly 2 weeks ago. Oh well... we have to suck it up or give up. I'll suck it up! You just have to ensure your weights and dimensions are correct as it reflects in what Ebay charge the buyer for postage.

Hi, I've been reading through this thread and wondered if anyone else has found the same.
I've relisted lots of my items today and at the top of each lot there was a banner saying that the postage had been changed to 'simple delivery'...when I scroll down to the postage section, there is no longer an option to use 'custom delivery' instead...has anyone else came across this? Is there a way to use our own postage?

It's no longer possible to hand write the address label and select your own postage provider sadly. I use Royal Mail Tracked 48 for everything and it's been great . I don't have a printer and I don't have a smartphone so I might have problems coming up but I really don't want to use Evri because I've had a lot of damaged deliveries and packages thrown over my garden wall, or left on the doorstep - not even my doorstep sometimes.
This change, together with the buyer protection fees, have been the worst changes in all the time I've bought and sold on eBay and I don't really want to continue with the problems that 'simple delivery' will bring.

You are not alone, the 'Custom Delivery' has disappeared. And obviously nobody let us know...
I hope someone has a solution to this.

Yeah its now mandatory for those left that it affects...so its a case of using it or moving on in Ebays eyes, I can't see it changing other than heading to the Business section as well once the bugs are out

cannot find custom postage anymore

I keep posting the solution but there are so many posts about this I can't keep up! Use my solution as touted by customer service as though I work for ebay and try to sort out their mess!

I have had my custom option removed and now face SD as the only option. What really grinds is that my direct cost with Royal Mail was £1.55 yet the SD cost is £2.32. My products are high sales volume at a low retail price and low profits so this extra postage really does hit hard.
I see only 2 options for myself with 1, raising the sale price and possibly push myself out of the 'window' or 2, move to a Shopify or similar plaform and somehow divert eyes to my shop.

Option 1 gives more monies to those who created this situation.
Option 2 gives less monies to those who created this situation.
Moral dilemma.

This doesn't work anymore...

Simple Delivery is now mandatory for all Private sellers.
It was announced it was coming last year in eBay Announcements and the roll out started April 15th, being very slow, as many could still use Custom Postage until recently, but not anymore.
Unless, items are exempt from SD , that is , light items under the value of £10, or oversize items, then Custom Postage is available.
Having said that, some myself included, still cannot find Custom Postage for those exempt items, but the link below, Got to Solution, Rick's answer offers a workaround!

Simply deliver is now mandatory for me. This completely sucks. You suck ebay executives.

Simple Delivery is now mandatory for all Private sellers.
Is that down to its popularity amongst those inflicted with it - now all problems ironed out here it comes for Business Sellers.
Interesting is one word for it.
Has the word 'CHOICE' been removed from the dictionary?

Not down to popularity at all , far from it, we were told last year it was to be come mandatory, and not a choice. It's been a very, very slow roll out some lucky enough to see Custom Postage until recently.
Have you seen an announcement that it's coming as you say, for Business sellers ?

I hope it becomes available for business sellers (optionally) as it makes lost and misdelivered items eBay's problem.
Had a sale on my personal account last week, Evri left the parcel against a fence at their work (seen on tracking photo) and eBay handled everything, including a refund to the buyer and no effect on me.
When I list something on my business account I can see there is a heading for Simple Delivery but it shows as not available.

I imagine many people feel the same way, as do I. But I also understand sometimes Ebay have no choice as they are a multi national operating company and as such are subject to the various regulations from the US, UK, Europe etc.
SD is actually not a bad thing as it means everything is tracked; it cuts down on buyers claiming INR and then Ebay having to sometimes deal with escalating to them to resolve. It protects sellers and buyers too. There are some small discounts on the postage. It is really not that bad! We don't even need printers. It is not a problem to me to wait a couple of days after delivery to get my funds. You just have to bend and adapt to changes. I would prefer to have kept the old system as it suited me, but we have no choice in the matter now. In time it will be the norm and we will all just accept it, or else people will stop selling online. I can imagine many of the selling platforms will follow suit.
I have been an Ebay seller for 19 years and I have seen so many changes - some of them caused me a lot of time and effort, not to mention stress as a business seller, who had over a thousand listings and had to make changes to them to comply with new regs. I have spent so much time on to CS complaining, also! You cannot fight the system but I can say that new things have teething problems and have seen that in time, Ebay have made modifications to make those things better.
