Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

OK so listing some items tonight

good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates

bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really? 

This is from ebay itself:  You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.

I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

Hi I have not listed anything since they introduced the Simple Delivery.
Just realised if you buy something you will have to pay the new charge.

I haven't sold anything since they switched as they changed all of my listings to simple delivery and the buyer now pays 2.94 for items i used to send with an envelope and stamp as the smallest option they have is up to 1Kg and costs 2.94, used to cost around £1.10.

No point in selling now, Ebay is useless to me now.

I recently sold a metal detector weighing over 3kgs. Ebay forced me to use Evri and a postage label that said a maximum of 1kg. It actually got delivered. I have just sold a second detector, weighing a similar amount and this time eBay let me use my own postage. Just a little confusing to say the least.

It's possible you're one of the 'lucky' ones  to whom mandatory S.D. has already been applied. 🙁

It's supposedly going to be compulsory for *all* private sellers, but ebay have so far made a right mess of 'rolling it out' over private accounts and different categories.

The most recent date when everybody is supposed to have it is the 28th April........ but that could also be a load of old cobblers.......

I sell stamps and use my own postage stamps to post. Ebay's mandatory cost is 2.70. 

I am looking into creating my online shop. 

I have also decided not to buy via Ebay. 

I do not like a company that forces on us  their decision to make more money from their customers.

I was wondering why the option wasn’t there for onestepdesign

didnt think of that but surely the custom option should be there for everyone…what if they wanted to list a postcard or dvd, or any item in the latest exemptions list

@onestepdesign what happens when you click on where it says simple delivery

@noorhm stamps are an exempt category , you can carry on using custom postage for them

if you decide to, and charge 87p 2nd class or 1st class post whatever that cost is now

I don’t know why you can’t get custom

and looks like your listings haven’t been switched over

i can get it both on the browser version and the app

if you want to list a coin maybe do sell one like this from one of your current listings and see if it works

 I have found where you can get your own shipping choice. Click on Simple delivery, choose advanced and there is your choice.

I did try that but ebay has said from 15th the only option is Simple Delivery. Not sure if you have tried to list anything since then. Thanks

Currently, some sellers may still be able to.

Unfortunately ebay want S.D. to be mandatory for *all* private sellers..... (sooner or later !🙄)

We were told that it would apply to all, by the 15th of this month: that didn't happen.

The next 'definite' date is the 28th ; so Monday....... we'll see what happens.

(it's been rolled-out over different sellers and different categories in a very 'lumpy' fashion, so some *are* and some *aren't*)

I have this today where this no option at all to select Custom, it's Simple Delivery or nothing.  I've tried clicking and unclicking the Freight, Collection and Postage tabs and on the Postage ones it pops up the option of "Add primary service", but as soon as you do that, what you've selected isn't saved no matter how many times you do it.  If this isn't sorted I'll be swerving Ebay's postage options altogether and buying off site.
