Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

OK so listing some items tonight

good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates

bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?

This is from ebay itself:  You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.

I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

It is definitely there. If you list something tonight the option to use RM etc is still there BUT if that item sells you will have no alternative than to send by Evri as it will change. You won’t be able to see the address of the buyer in an email as before, you will get a name and UK. That’s all. They tell you that ‘the address will be shown on the postage label’. So now I cannot ask RM and my posties to collect, ai have to physically go to the b****y shop to drop these things off costing me time and money and yet my postage which I charge to include packing will have been reduced, unbelievable! What next from them!!!!!!!

They don’t care about that or anyone, they want to make money whatever it takes!

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

You can see the label go to print label (you don’t have to print it) and
you can see the address on the label. Where it says leave feedback at
bottom of page cluck arrow and manage postage, then print label.

I know it's proper 💩 glad i've given up. I see there's a moaner on at you now just ignore it, strange but not many stuck records around today i've been missing them. I can only have collect from RM i could see this happening because whatever they say is a lie or they are just too dense to even know what is happening themselves. I seriously advise everyone to take their listings off for a few days they will still be there to relist for some time. Mine are that i took off a month ago. Keep checking on here and keep each other informed, because the only people with sense are here right now in this forum, with the odd exception 😉

Moaner spotted, don’t worry, will ignore them. I do actually do self assessment and pay whatever tax is due! Not that that’s anything to do with anyone else.  Thank you, I am going to take your advice, take notice of the people on here with sense and definitely ignore the whingers 🤪

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

I'm not a business- I’m retired and want to let people have the opportunity to buy my items collected over years that will end up in the bin otherwise- eBay is spending a fortune on media advertising to private individuals asking them to use their platform to sell old unwanted items and now wants to dictate how they deliver those items.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Very well said and it has everything to do with simple delivery. The items
have to be delivered. I want to post my items , my way, my choice and by
my chosen method. How are we meant to pay for packaging is my question.
Can’t include it in the prices of items as it makes them too pricey and the
higher we go the higher the BPF. Can’t do an invoice, that’s been
removed, can’t combine that's been removed but we can do a refund and
instantly it’s taken from any cleared funds. On another note I had an item
delivered Royal Mail 48 hr tracked but it never showed as delivered on eBay
system so had to argue and they still wouldn’t take the clear proof from
rm, it had to be visible in their system. It still isn’t and I am still
waiting -

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

That’s out of order

normally a customer service agent would have the discretion to mark delivered

Feedback given shortens the waiting time for funds I believe

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

I didn’t know about the nine combining anymore, so I shall say no, sorry can’t do that shall I to customers who ask me, need to take that off my listings then while they are still active!  In the past J could do this no problem, great! Also agree with you re packaging, I purchase good standard bubble wrap and it costs, I out a small and I mean small amount onto ,y listings to allow for this, as you say can’t do that anymore.  I will beg from neighbours for anything they can give me in future as packing material. Ironically I buy bubble wrap from EB, well that’s going to stop now.

I had the same problem with you with the delivery NOT showing, I argued with them that if the buyer hadn’t received it how come I had positive feedback from them saying how happy they were, it got sorted in the end but I had to wait 14 days following the order date before ai could contact EB about it! Shocking!

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Yes if you can get your buyers to leave positive feedback (only positive)
on delivery, your funds will be in your bank within the hour. Makes a
mockery of 48 hours to process and clear funds- absolute bull! 48 hours
for the buyer to either claim “not as described” “damaged” or not received
even though proof of delivery shows the door number and the parcel in their
hand. Then eBay can hold your funds even longer.

@wildduck24

Are you talking about here or somewhere else, meaning the "buyer leaving feedback and getting paid within an hour".

For here that is definitely wrong. They don't accept feedback as proof of delivery.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

I don’t know how many times we can recycle. Do we send out a beautiful
blouse in the McDonald’s take away bag. I have had items arrive in corn
flake boxes, no bubble wrap to secure and if course it’s broken. I dread
to think what kind of packaging our items are going to be put into.
Instead of tissue paper - toilet roll. Instead of mailing bags - recycled
bin bags. We no longer get carrier bags so can’t use those. Not sure how
we recycle sellotape 🤣🤣

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Oh yes they do as I have had it 3 times now. If the item is delivered
and the buyer leaves positive feedback, your funds are released. I didn’t
believe it either until it happened. I had 3 items and the tracking was
wrong, so no delivery was showing on eBay. My 3 buyers immediately left me
positive feedback, funds released and in my balance .

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Ohhh, I know what this is. It's the low value exemption. Under £10 or some such.

Not sure if they increased it yet.

But that doesn't work above that limit. Never has.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

It does now - may have been a mistake on their part but it happened. Let’s
believe everything they say though:
Simple delivery will never be mandatory
A winning bid means you have purchased an item and are obligated to pay
Ebay are impartial (That’s the biggest laugh and lie).
BPF to protect the buyer - the only thing they need protecting from is
EBay. I could go on all day …….
