OK so listing some items tonight
good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates
bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?
This is from ebay itself: You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.
I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

Greedbay make money if we use simple delivery, they charge more than going direct to royal mail etc.

I agree - it's a total pain to have to do it every time. There should be an option in 'preferences' to always opt out. eBay getting very very annoying and imo has shot itself in the foot. Why they had to match another platform with the new fees I don't understand. They had the edge and have chucked it away - even a 2% fee would have given eBay the advantage.
What happens next - time will tell...

Even if you relist an item that you have sold with custom postage it defaults to SD,
I offer combined postage SD just doesnt allow for it and i always say il refund it if ebay dont do it but with SD i would be refunding out my own pocket,
they say if its not broke dont try fixing it

Can you go back into the listings and change the postage back to custom?

Same here, it is throwing away my postage every time I relist something or sell similar. And it throws away my dispatch time every time.
I really hope it does not mess with the postage when bulk relisting or when items renew.

Aha! The unmistakeable tell-tale sign of ebay's greed in action - they make money on every postage label if we use Simple Delivery so naturally they will make it more difficult to avoid it.

Auto-relist seems to be keeping postage info intact

If you have business policies for postage set up (private sellers are allowed to do that), the simple delivery option doesn’t appear at all when listing on the app.

I thought I'd see what the buyer would be charged if I used simple delivery for my 350g book. Ebay recommended a 2kg label but I chose 1kg. Ebay stated that the buyer would be charged £2.94 which seemed right for Evri. But in the live listing the buyer would get the choice of £2.47 standard or about £2.80 express.
So the label would not be adequate.
I went back to custom postage.

I've created a 'free delivery tracked 48' policy and see ebay refuse to allow me to action it via the website so this is only useful when using the app, although I haven't tried it yet.

The business postage policies work when creating a listing on both app and desktop. At least they should do.
Simple delivery doesn’t come up on the app when business policies are available to choose from as far as I can see. I have a private account I’m not using but when I sign in on the app there, if I didn’t know about it I wouldn’t know simple delivery existed. Only when I log in on desktop to create a draft do I see all of this advanced settings / custom postage stuff that you have to activate.

That’s how mine looked after I clicked on the custom postage setting. This is the first time I have ever looked at it on desktop as I’m not using my private account:

This is how it looks to me on the app. No mention of SD.

Thanks, I selected my postage policy on the website but to action it needed to click on 'Switch to advanced options' twice.

I was like a fish out of water creating a draft on desktop then. There’s way too much going on there for my liking, the app is miles better for most things imo. The business policies are perfect for being able to select exactly what you want on the app without too much messing about.
