Have eBay changed their mind about Simple Delivery?

You list an item and AI changes into SD postage.

Well I just listed something to test and I chose custom shipping and Yodel. Listing has this as the postage. Will see what happens 🙄

Hope eBay will be staggered by the complaints they are getting about this... It would be very interesting to know how many will be ending - or indefinitely pausing - their listings, as soon Simple Delivery is inflicted upon them.

Don't forget it's still very early hours of the morning of the 15th in eBay's HQ in CaliforNIA,  so maybe the buttons which need to be pushed for one and all,  are still in the process to change everyone to SD.

You're one of the lucky ones then , who've escaped it for a few hours.

Be aware , your existing listings may still be ' converted to SD'  in the coming hours / days.  Keep a watch on your account !😐

I have a listing I value at £150, just so I get this right, the only option is for SD,

What happens if there is a failure in SD?

It's no knowing when it will be fully rolled out,  as it looks like a staggered rollout, some seeing SD only when listing items today, others still seeing they can select other couriers.

However,  we were told that even existing listing will be changed to SD so basically bottom line,  there's no getting away from it!  You may have a few hours / day reprieve, but you will see it soon as your only choice!

We have listings all over the place, some changed to SD some not. Weirdly sold something SD up to 2 kg and postage £2.94 yet see another item for sale up to 2 kg changed to postage £3.44 same service. Either they have realised charging too little or AI decided the sale just gone was only up to 1 kg despite us putting up to 2 kg.

I just listed something today ( 16th) and could use my usual postage options . Oh wouldn’t it be great if they had changed their minds. 
As soon as they start forcing through ‘simple delivery’ I’ll be pausing my eBay selling. It’s not like anything much is selling anyway lol

I think ebay were just being a bit over optimistic (well.... optimistic from *their* point of view 🙁)

Most new rules/methods etc roll out slowly🐌 over the whole site rather than all changing in one big explosion 🎆

(this has the nasty side-effect of keeping some of us hanging on to the the tiny little hope it *won't* happen 😭......!)

I  had my first experience of Simple Delivery today as a buyer and it was a bad one.

I ordered last night and it was cancelled this morning.

I cant think why,well actually I can because I got a nice message from the seller telling me how the postage had been altered from free to Evri parcel and how she had been on the phone to Ebay asking how to exclude Evri from her listings.

I saw free postage, in the meantime she saw it had been changed to Evri parcel and promptly cancelled the order. It did look a bit odd when I looked at the postage as it said " Free tracked "

It was almost as if tracked had been tacked onto free by some random AI based computer that was thick as two short planks.

So it seems that not only is this new magnificent system going to alienate private sellers,its going to alienate buyers as well...... as if we didnt all know that.

I suspect Ebay are going to need a bigger call centre !

In the meantime I'm now off to buy it somewhere else where I click a button that says Prime delivery and it arrives the next day without issues or cancellation.

Your seller was caught out by not understanding that the listing was free delivery and Simple Delivery.  In other words, you don't pay the postage, they do, and they have to use the Simple Delivery option selected by you on the listing, which was obviously evri.

Many sellers will be caught out the same way as this gets rolled out and until it becomes 'business as usual'.

How do you know that for sure? I've just checked my listings which traverse a range of categories and can see no sign of the original postage rates being removed.

It seems strange that they haven't first changed the new listing or relisting screen to stop us specifying our own postage options as that would save them reworking those listings later.

Has anyone had a listing changed to SD-only yet?

Maybe they are delaying the rollout to fix the bugs, revise the pricing or just to consider the full weight of negative feedback and/or declining platform activity levels? Maybe they have had an intervention by the CMA or someone else? Maybe they are waiting on advice from their lawyers? Who knows?

As a business seller of many a year, much time and money invested this is concerning

Because others are having SD applied to their listings.

Just because your listings haven't been subject to SD yet doesn't mean to say that everything has halted. If you read the current copious threads you'll see that many sellers have SD now and some don't.  That's what a staggered rollout is - staggered.

For my existing listings, Ebay didn't change anything last Monday as threatened and they haven't changed any today and new listings I can still use custom and exclude SD 🤔🤔🤔🤔
