How is eBay getting away with this!!!
I sold a gold diamond ring. I wasn’t aware I hadn’t turned off GSP on the listing and it sold to the USA. I was annoyed about this because of the fees but I honored the sale, I have used GSP for jewellery in the past without a problem.
I then get an email saying it’s a restricted item, so they are KEEPING it and have refunded the buyer and charged me for the refund. I am FUMING. This is theft!! They have absolutely no reason to keep the ring, it should be returned to me if it’s not going to the buyer. I had no idea they could do this!
why is GSP even an option on a jewellery listing if you are not allowed to sell jewellery!? It’s a massive scam. Keeping people’s jewellery is theft pure and simple.

Are you sure that they are charging you for the refund? Normally, if an item is restricted and can't be sent they refund the buyer but you get to keep the sale proceeds.

Does it actually say that in the message?

Hi vintage-jewel, thanks for your post.
Normally, it wouldn't work like that. If you confirm the item number, I'll take a look for you to see what happened there.
Thank you,
Marco
