GPSR used computers and parts is this the end ?

Just seen this GPSR stuff and having looked into it a bit seems is going to be very difficult to sell used laptops and parts outside UK to NI and Eurozone if I have understood this correctly.

Seems that to sell say a Lenovo product you will need MFG info etc and looking deeper will also need original packing and manuals etc ?

How is that going to work for IT resellers ? when was the last time you had a clearance of used IT with boxes and manuals ? You are lucky to see a hard disk and a charger let alone a manual.

Am I wrong or are they trying to make it impossible to sell used stuff outside UK now ?

Is this punishment for brexit or to shut down the small businesses so the big boys have no competition ?

You may be spot on with that.

I'd get listing before 13th December, there are currently lots of threads over on the Business Seller board where we're currently trying to make some sense of it. As it stands, it's looking like many sellers will no longer be shipping to Europe or NI, but we hope to get some more guidance from eBay soon.

In the meantime, if you've not seen it already this is their current information page:

As someone that sells laptop spares, I also share this problem, this I feel maybe a barrier too far for most, I already stopped selling in France and Germany due to EPR regulation due to needing a university degree to even comprehend how to be compliant. As is I’ll sit back a few months and see if eBay can provide a better solution for compliance because as is they have mentioned this GPSR twice that I’m aware of and all it does is throw out mass questions and no one seems to have a definitive answer. If it continues down this route of vagueness like the EPR regulation saga then this will end my international selling to the EU which a decent percentage of sales. I may have to pull the plug entirely as the time expended, reduced income and forever increasing costs is coming to a point I may as well just go out and get a job.

I might just add that I along with many others use Webinterpret for international listings on other eBay sites and with the vast majority of those being on EU eBay variant sites, I can see this either ending that company or making it more expensive to use, and for most why bother to use it when there would be only about 3 eBay sites to list on after removing the EU portions.

This isn’t great at all!

It looks like yes, it will be nigh on impossible for small businesses to comply.

On first look we thought it was punishment for Brexit until we read the other threads running on this (unsurprisingly there are quite a few!) to find that this EU directive applies to EU countries within the zone selling cross-boarder to other EU countries as well. I.e a French seller selling to German buyer also needs to comply.

You'll see from the other threads that this is a complete mess, will be very damaging to many businesses, is very anti-green and makes absolutely no sense!

Hi Buddy

Have you been looking into this since this post?

I sell component parts for Powertools and this could sink me as well, unless of course spares/parts are exempt, but I can't find any details on this

See this post.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Where Lenovo is concerned this page points you to where you can find the necessary Declaration of Conformity and user manual(s) for their products. It also states Lenovo's Slovakian address for EU regulatory issues - i.e. the (EU-based) Manufacturer details.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
