Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

Hi,

I've been using eBay for 24 years now and I have never had a 'Funds pending – awaiting delivery' show on any sale.

For some reason this has shown on three items I have sold over the past couple of days, when everything else I have sold over the past couple of months has been fine and payment has arrived as usual.

These are physical items, not digital, and I've been selling for 24 years, so why all of a sudden is this a thing?

thanks

Sam

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

What you need to know

If you’re a business seller, you can schedule your payouts. If you’re a private seller, you’ll receive your funds to your eBay balance and can request your payouts from the Payments tab in My eBay or Seller Hub. You can track all of your payouts in the Payments tab  in Seller Hub or Payments in My eBay.

As per your instructions, i've re read the entire policy changes. But it doesn't explain the contradiction I HIGHLIGHTED in the existing system. For your reading, i've copied and pasted from my post.

In ebay's selling template section "postage, collection, returns and payments", under "dispatch time", the default clearly says "Will usually dispatch within 3 working days of receiving cleared payment" . So,,,in theory the buyer COULD WAIT UP TO 72 HOURS to pay.

But if the payment DOESN'T CLEAR till after delivery has been confirmed,,,that's a direct contradiction to the dispatch clause?

So by the terms and conditions in ebay,,,,how can i send out something, that's not been paid for,,,but i don't get paid till its been delivered?

I honestly look forward to your advise on this predicament/ contradiction in terms

As per normal, when ebay make changes, its always a case of "throw it out there,,the users will find faults saves us development costs"

I'm almost at 25 years using the site. This latest change is abhorrent and blatantly against the interests of the sellers.

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

As I said earlier. (see my previous posts) It works great for me. No fees, let eBay make a few cents / pennies from interest, and I save a 10-14% transaction fee.
I still think I win out in the long run.

I sell an item for £20:

Old rules... it costs me 11% overall (£2.20)

New rules.... I wait two days for my money .... I lose interest on £20 in my bank for just two days.... a loss of maybe 2-3 pence.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

Just my thoughts, yours may be different.

I understand that some sellers need the cash fast, but is it better to get just £17.50 from your £20 sale the next day, or wait two days and get the full £20 ?

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

I’ve got the funds pending awaiting delivery, buyer has collected his item from post office and left me positive feedback, but Royal Mail tracking has not updated and status still shows pending collection.

I called eBay asking to release my funds as buyer had collected item and left positive feedback but eBay refused to release funds and funds still pending.  I’ve been selling on eBay for over 15 years with 100% feedback so am disappointed with ebay.

My simple solution is to stop selling on eBay and sell on Vinted instead!

and in my opinion this is a major flaw with this change........tracking quite often does not update between RM and Ebay 😞     I am still thinking about whether i should list at the minute.....then i ask myself "do i really need the possible aggrivation at the minute"...probably not as loads of other things still going on in real life 🙂

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

Was just reading their payment rules and it is totally shocking how they are now discriminating between rich and poor people.

It says if you are a business seller that your funds for payout will be available the next day after payment, unless it is subject to a hold.

and for private sellers it says that your funds for payout will be available 2 calendar days after delivery has been confirmed by a tracked service or 14 days from the date of sale if sent by an untracked delivery method.

So there is clearly a DISCRIMINATION now against private sellers, otherwise why doesn't eBay tell business sellers to wait days for their payments ???

EDIT:-

The only way I'll ever come back and sell on eBay again is when they see sense and bring PayPal Instant payments back again and get rid of all this Managed Payments RUBBISH !

It means clearing the buyer's payment to ebay, that's when ebay tells you to post.

It does not mean clearing the payment to the seller.

Rich private sellers will get the hold, poor business sellers will not. Whatever this is, it is not discrimination between rich and poor. It may be discrimination between business sellers and private sellers, though I think that your use of the term discrimination is wildly emotive.

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

its good that you have finally read the announcement 🙂

If you think that all business sellers "are rich" then you are wrong going by how many say on these boards they are really struggling and may well have to give up selling on the site as its no longer viable due to the fees they pay etc.     A lot of businesses are really struggling not only on here but also in real life if you see the news.

Private sellers are not being "discriminated against ".    The Law has always been different for the two groups.

I am 100% sure that Ebays lawyers have covered the site against such claims in accordance with the laws of the land so that a rather daft accusation to make.

Bringing back Paypal and ditching managed Payments?     I do not think that will ever happen so you will have a very long wait to return to selling on here 😞

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

By your reasoning maybe i should scream discrimination at a very well known Bank.    I need proper photo id and they will only accept a current passport or photo driving licence...neither of which i currently have but last week had to send off for at a big expense.       In your opinion is this also discrimination because they refuse to accept anything but the above?

eBay should have just let the grown up's at PayPal deal with this, They were doing a fantastic job for years providing instant payments for ALL SELLERS without any discrimination and giving a good level of buyer protection (180 days vs eBay's only 30 days)...

It is obvious that this job of managing payments from millions of people, whether they are buyers or sellers is just too much for eBay to cope with and all these delays now for private sellers, is only because they now must process BUSINESS SELLER'S payments QUICKLY to avoid losing them !

Whilst private sellers are the lest important now, hence they can now wait days for their payments !

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

Business sellers...............this is their livelihood and pays their bills and keeps their head above water.   Often its their sole income.

Private sellers...........Ebay is most of the time not their sole income so they have a back up income of some kind whether thats a pension, a contracted hours job or even benefits.

As a private seller i have no issue with businesses on the site being paid out first.

Paypal also now only give people 30 days to make a not as described claim BUT still 180 days for a not received claim.

I fear you are only looking at everything from your own personal point of view.     Maybe try and look at it from all sides and read all announcements...eg Paypal ones.

I give up on eBay. I'll sell somewhere where I am treated fairly like a valued customer.

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

To be truthful and fair to eBay...

I sold an item last Friday for a total of £46.95 including postage.

This item was then posted off to my buyer early yesterday morning by Royal Mail Special Delivery (private sellers take note)

It was delivered to my buyer earlier today.

EBAY HAVE NOW RELEASED MY MONEY INTO MY EBAY BALANCE AND IT IS NOW AVAILABLE.

So guys, if you want to get paid on the SAME DAY as delivery - USE ROYAL MAIL SPECIAL DELIVERY.

Conclusion;-

There was no having to wait 48 hours after a confirmed delivery when using Royal Mail Special Delivery.
