Ebay won’t remove inaccurate buyer feedback

Hi, I’ve been unlucky enough to deal with an extremely aggressive, unpleasant buyer who’s left my first negative feedback in my 17 years on Ebay. The feedback is demonstrably factually inaccurate but the buyer has refused to amend it and Ebay has refused to remove it. I’ve used the automated process and spoken to two agents, both of whom have claimed the buyer is entitled to their ‘opinion’, even if I can prove that what they’ve stated is false. To me, this is a nonsense - in essence, a spiteful buyer can get away with making any exaggerated claim they like.

Please can anyone suggest anything else I can do? Thanks in advance.

That's unfortunate, we all get the occasional vexatious customer who won't be placated and chooses to leave negative feedback.  This however is their right, and however galling it is it's something we have to deal with.  I've had customers who've had a negative experience but have been understanding and we have reached a resolution and have ended up leaving positive feedback, and I've had customers at the other end of the spectrum who go straight to negative feedback when they got their item on time and as described.

Going forward, one way of dealing with negatives is to maximise your positives- automate your feedback.  Customers are more likely to leave positive feedback when you've already left good feedback for them.  My amount of customers leaving feedback went from about 25% to 35% by doing this, it does make a difference.

Did eBay make money from the transaction!? Yes?

Then that's the end of it, they really don't care after that.

Its annoying but its part of selling on Ebay.I got a negative a while back after I reported a scammer who was selling fake stamps, his feedback showed I wasnt the only one who received the dodgy stamps.

A request to remove some revenge feedback after he purchased a postcard and left me a neg was refused as it was the buyers true experience apparently.

After this I decided bad feedback wasn't the end of the world, and reporting scammers was to be avoided.

The neg  didnt hurt my sales and it wasnt long before it vanished into the mists of time.

One thing though,It made me realise never sell anything on Ebay you are not prepared to lose, and never trust Ebay to have your best interests at heart despite the endless "Protection" guff. This a mantra which Ive followed ever since.

I'm currently not able to sell on eBay as they refuse to port my account from another country, and I can't say I miss it too much. Other online outlets are available and they actually care about their sellers.

As @tressygirl has recommended, qualify the feedback with a calm and factual reply.

Do you know that you can also qualify feedback that you left for the buyer?  I always leave 'Hope to deal with you again' immediate feedback.  If the buyer gives me aggro and gets onto my BBL, I qualify it with 'I will never deal with this buyer again'.  That appears on their feedback, and gives a warning to others.

I've got one at the moment.

I shipped on time. 3 weeks later after no contact buyer left Negative Feedback. Opened a Case. During this time, I chased it up with the courier who confirmed the item had been lost in transit, however, after a swift investigation they found it. The Case was later closed in my favour. The Buyer then requested to send the item back, (Return) saying he did not want it. I accepted the return (and he sent an empty package back). After this I appealed the Case. eBay have told me many times if a buyer sends the item back for a refund the feedback is removable. I had a letter from EVRI (eBay Shipping Label) who confirmed it was there error, they confirmed the item was posted on the 21st Feb, and that there was an issue which was rectified on the 7th March. I sent this email to eBay, despite all the above they wont remove the feedback.

Buyer Sais

"Not arrived, chasing for a refund, AVOID' - 5 mins after Opening the item not received case. I cannot get my head around how this feedback will not be removed.
