Ebay’s new policy for private sellers is like hell now!

I’m a private seller with 99.7% rate for 7 years now. The new policy changes are like hell for me. I’m not getting paid for sold items for a week now. Most of my sold items are delivered already, but Ebay still showing the as “Dispatched”, but they have been delivered for days. All tracked, express24 or RM Tracked48. Numbers of buyers are not giving a damn to leave feedback as well, and sometimes they are not even collecting their parcels from the collection point they asked me to post to.  I don’t want to be a business seller, because I don’t want to pay more fees and stuff, plus I don’t want to be PAYE tax payer. Put the bloody selling fee back and let the sellers be.
I’m facing with a hard financial period at the moment, money is short, and now I’ve lots of money on hold for weeks?! No thank you!

Ebay is bloody taking my breath away of this whole selling thing. Plus Ebay puts buyer’s fee on my listings automaticly? Who the heck they think they are?! Cutting off  my chances to sell things? So I’m unable to provide competitve prices!  Costumer service is also a BS. Making excuses, and “understaning my issues” ?! Get the system fixed!!!This is sucks, and screwing me off.

I agree with your sentiments. The new system does appear to penalise private sellers. I always use tracking when posting items to buyers. Recently I posted several small items with Royal Mail and had tracking for all of them. One item was not showing delivered and eBay held up the funds due to me. I checked with the Buyer and he confirmed the item had been delivered. I can only guess that the person posting the item had not recorded the delivery to the house. I queried this with eBay and they said they would pay the funds if the Buyer confirmed delivery. The new policy/system does appear to be laying extra layers of bureaucracy to, what was once, a simple and efficient system

Did ebay tell you the buyer could confirm delivery?

Re: Ebay’s new policy for private sellers is like hell now!

Ebay is a mess right now, I have a 99.8% seller rating and for the last 3 days sales have dropped off a cliff

I don't begrudge E Bay making money but the way they are treating private sellers is apalling

All my Ebay prices are now uncompetetive because of the buyer protection fee and I am having to work my way through each individual listing to account for the buyer protection fee.

Variation listings are a joke in that for each variation there is a buyer protection fee which makes bundles uncompetetive. The Irony is if I listed a bundle of 5 items a bespoke listing it would be £3 cheaper than the same same items on a variation listing

Customer support cant be bothered to ring you back

However every cloud has a silver lining I opened a Vinted account yesterday and listed 2 items  and both sold at asking price within 24 hours. Iam now selling more on Vinted after a day than on Ebay .Today I wont be listing on Ebay and will be solely listing on Vinted,

Ebay you are trying to be like Vinted and failing miserably and you are neither the old Ebay or Vinted now but are just a mess. Sort yourself out quickly before you lose me and other sellers for good

Re: Ebay’s new policy for private sellers is like hell now!

Ebay have told me in a call, that the item must be marked delivered before they pay out or you have to wait a month. My buyer left positive feedback having got the item but still they wouldn't pay me, as it wasn't marked delivered. A buyer can't mark his own item delivered, only the carrier who persistently dont bother to do so.

Ebay must revert back to paying sellers as they did before. This new system is terrible. Some sellers can even afford postage until they get paid.

Yes, it's absolute *bleep*. They'll surely have to reverse it.
I was perfectly happy paying fees. Now all my prices look a mess. Like some kind of spam listing.

Isn't it nice the buyer fee is supposedly funding eBay's Customer Service and yet their agents keep telling sellers they have to wait a month to get thier funds. Top notch training by eBay, bravo, it's clear that money is going to good use.

(this is sarcasm, the wait is 14 days maximum).

Hi,

"Customer support cant be bothered to ring you back'

Just wait until you need to talk to Vinted Customer Services. You can't. You can only send a message, wait more than a day for a response, which is a stock answer. You can email them again for  another answer, which is a stock answer.....

I have sold well initially on there, but viewings drop very quickly and there is no relisting, you have to start again.

My first buying experience was terrible. Never again. If your items are good quality, great. If not don't worry about it, sell it anyway as "very good condition" and the buyer has to pay to return it.

You still have to wait for payment and you have to deal with delivery companies of customer choosing.

If it works for you great, but it's far from perfect.

Yes they did via a telephone conversation - I did feel a bit bad having to contact the buyer. They were very understanding and did confirm. I am not sure everyone would be as helpful. My main concern is that now everything depends upon the post person registering the delivery with an electric device.

It's deliberate I think.

Yeah, not getting paid for 2 weeks is extremely annoying, especially as it is our money.  Another thing that I've noticed is that my sales have dropped off.  Sold a record today and cried Eureka!  Not sure what's going on, but maybe it's the additional eBay fee that is putting sellers off?  We do, after all, live in times of austerity.

The whole EBAY debacle begin a while ago when EBAY took on the guise and workings of a BANK !!!

Holding on to users money as long as possible to swell their coffers with interest ( Very Bank).

Introducing spurious charges such as " Buyer protection fee"...

Re: Ebay’s new policy for private sellers is like hell now!

Two things have really got my blood up about eBay's so-called new policy changes.  Firstly, they are now charging a new buyer fee.  The only problem is that it isn't new!  Recently I purchased a CD from an online retailer and had to return it.  There were some issues so I got in touch with an eBay agent who informed me on the phone that I was "protected" under the eBay buyer scheme.  However, when the agent proposed what would be done, it was exactly the same as how things have always been done.  In other words, the fee is a red herring and the buyer protection fee is a sham.  Secondly, eBay promised that they would scrap listing fees as they have done.  However, they have added the buyer fee to counter this so that they aren't out of pocket.  All they've done is rob Peter to pay Paul.  Shady business practices indeed.   Finally, I should mention again that it is so annoying having to wait 2 weeks to get MY money.  As skypetrew rightly notes above: "Holding on to users money as long as possible to swell their coffers with interest ( Very Bank)."  It's a shame that eBay has changed for the worse.  It used to be such a great platform for buyers and sellers.

Re: Ebay’s new policy for private sellers is like hell now!

Yeah, same here.  Sales have fallen.  I price my items competitively and the buyer fee has put my prices over the competitive threshold.  So if I price a CD at £29.99 the additional buyer fee bumps it up to around £32.  I can't be bothered to go back and re-price everything.   Ebay has messed up bigtime this time.

"All they've done is rob Peter to pay Paul."

I dispute that!

All they've done is rob Andy, Aria, Arya, Azim .... Zacariah to pay eBay

Re: Ebay’s new policy for private sellers is like hell now!

I Rented a shop in the UK back  in the day.

I sold my goods at a price that afforded me a profit. The customers came into the shop. paid their money and walked out with the goods. At NO TIME did the landlord who rented me the shop, tell me how much I must sell in order to be a good tenant, at no time did the customer pay my landlord and then my landlord pay me after holding said money for a while. So I ask again, who the heck do EBAY think they are????????

Then censor comments such as these for breaching EBAY guidelines, OUTRAGEOUS doesn't even come close.

Re: Ebay’s new policy for private sellers is like hell now!

It's getting worse!

I sold 20 items since new rule,  but i noticed EBAY SCAMMED ME ON MY MONEY on two of them!

Says funds ' completed ' BUT NEVER APPEARED ON 'AVAILABLE FUNDS' !!!

 already two of them.

Now I'm closely monitoring everything else as I'm sure they WILL do it with other items.

It's hard to track if you sell 30-40 items a month.

Will have to fight for my stolen money now like I got nothing else to do with my life.
