Ebay's new buyer protection scam

So I have been a seller on and off her since June 2001, Over the years I have sent items recorded delivery that either never turn up , or arrive with no notification of delivery.  Now someone wants to charge a buyer a fee for safe delivery, when they would have been charged that in the P&P cost.  Frankly it sounds more like a scam than customer service and Ebay are also trying to force us to use their shipping option, So much for free enterprise, sound like trying to get the monopoly on delivery as well.  As for hanging on the sellers cash til 2 days after delivery, really so post office goes on strike and you don't get paid, Think I may start looking to leave. So much for eBay's loyalty to us .

Ebay's new buyer protection scam

The buyer protection fees on purchases from private sellers is enforced insurance fees. Which is forcing the buyer to pay for insurance they may not want or require.

There is definitely a case for a class action here.

To add salt to the wound they charge VAT on it again when they calculate the additional taxes for NON UK delivery.

Charging VAT twice is illegal too.

I don't know of many insurance products where you get the fee back in the event of a claim.

Ebay's new buyer protection scam

Your right.I have been buying from ebay for 20 odd years with a 100% positive feedback from day one. I have tolorated a number of the bad changes they have implimented over this time. Recently these so called buyer protection charges have started creeping in to my purchases and I am not really happy about this. I tend to vote with my feet so to speak. So, I will be buying more from TEMU,SHIEN and ALIBABA and buying my second hand bargains from car boot sales and markets. No excessive post and packaging charges, and no buyer protection charges. YOU have squeezed the punters too far ebay.

Yes, some new sellers may be joining every day, but it certainly isn't tens of thousands, as you describe.

I've seen plenty of posts on both here and other communities that suggest that new sellers, as soon as they try and sell anything, get banned from selling because they are "a risk to the eBay community" with no actual reason and no recourse! This then bans anyone who ever lives at that address as well...

Plus, what happens if an existing seller unknowingly moves into the house of a previously banned seller !!
