So I have been a seller on and off her since June 2001, Over the years I have sent items recorded delivery that either never turn up , or arrive with no notification of delivery. Now someone wants to charge a buyer a fee for safe delivery, when they would have been charged that in the P&P cost. Frankly it sounds more like a scam than customer service and Ebay are also trying to force us to use their shipping option, So much for free enterprise, sound like trying to get the monopoly on delivery as well. As for hanging on the sellers cash til 2 days after delivery, really so post office goes on strike and you don't get paid, Think I may start looking to leave. So much for eBay's loyalty to us .

@coreygun wrote:You're just wording it differently, but the fact is, if something needs to be sold at £100 - because that's a competitive price, or it's intrinsic value, or matching other retailer's prices - you only receive about £96 from that sale. The difference between the price advertised and the amount you receive is the fee you pay selling an item.
The end result is exactly the same as if ebay simply said they'd reduced their seller fees to 4% - as an item advertised at £100 only nets me £96.
The added issue now is that if someone says "Will you do this for a tenner", and you send them an offer for £10, they actually receive an offer of about £11, so now there's added complexity in correlating end prices with buyers, in terms of offers.
The thing to watch out for is if they make the offer, there Tenner offer includes the BPF.

I think you replied to me in error..... this wasn't what MY comment was about at all

It's causing us issues as we make now less than ebay is charging our buyers in fees. We can't lower the prices any further

Absolutely spot on.

Very true indeed.

Bit like trumps tariffs
brave new ebay world lol
but not lol let’s see how it plays out
there’s Vinted for clothes home stuff and all sorts of ctegories
they too charge buyers and don’t pay you till two days after delivery but you get a hell of a lot more views there it’s not so control freaks as eBay

A potentially catastrophic mistake.
It serves them right for being so underhanded switching seller fees to buyer fees.
Sellers like myself are now waiting what seems like forever to be paid while Ebay muddles through it's ill conceived buyer protection payment process that is deeply flawed.
i.e If Royal Mail doesn't scan your tracked or signed for item at the point of delivery ebay 'assumes' it hasn't arrived, therefore not making a payout to the poor buyer in good time which is deeply concerning and worrying for sellers that need their money quickly.
It's grossly overprotective to the buyer and very mistrusting of the seller.

Maybe it's finally time to say bye bye to ebay after 18 years.
If things don't improve very quickly I'm selling with someone else.

Likewise. We use TikTok hut they are equally frustrating! 8% fees and take a month to pay you if you're a smaller business. These dam companies, give just to take even more back..

That's a good point

Your buyers would not have to pay the fees if you were correctly registered.

All my listings have highier prices now. It just happened overnight.. I didn't know about that, just noticed this mornnig.
Did ebay go crazy again?

Crazier, might be closer to the truth.
It's all part of their new rollout. The final piece of the puzzle, yet to be unveiled, ""Simple" delivery".
Now you have to really watch your ass with offers. That's where things get fun now. Have a read of the threads. Shouldn't be hard to find the examples.

It really looks like some greedy people there tripped out and completely lost the plot.
It happens more and more often to them, every single year since after covid I think.

Same here.
But the 'Make Offer' option is also screwed and my recent attempt at initiating an offer nearly ended in disaster.
Why? because when you now make an offer, eBay includes the buyer protection fee in your price... which is deducted from the offer price that the seller sees at their end. So, from the seller's POV, it will look like some prospective buyers are attempting to lowball them!
I only realised this after checking the purchase history of the item.

Do you know the way they calculate is different depending on offer direction?
Both can start with say an offer of £20 but one way the seller gets what they want and the buyer pays more, the other way the seller gets less.

Did you notice. It's been few years now ebay is trying very hard to make it more difficult and more and more complicated to ebayers. Probably they hired new managers with great visions and dreams to make it all better.. or just pure greed maybe.. who knows?

That's totally screwed. Good ol' eBay with its 'improvements'.
