I have a printer but not a smart phone but it is irrelevant to me because i just will not use SD. I could but i will not.

The extract in the OPs post only adds to the confusion. It says they will begin to add SD to listings on 7th April. That suggests custom posting options will still be displayed on existing listings, but this is almost certainly not the case, going by everything else eBay has said about this.

I’m a business as well as a private seller. This would be evri I take it.
one large problem for Evri the store up the road from me gets only one bag from Evri. And by the time I’ve done my eBay that bag is already full by mid morning. So then have to wait till next day. For the bag to become empty as on occasions when I have to use E. They don’t get a bag till the next day.
And another factor is I’m more than likely ill most days so can’t get out to the shop at all. And of course that will count against me.
Back to the full evri bags I have to wait till my sister gets up as she’s in bed to 4pm on an afternoon as full time eBay secondhand seller. And then proceed to Find another place that will take my post.

Same here. I'm happy with the way I deal with the posting side of things. No buyer of mine has ever had a problem. Damn it, I've just bought some more stamps!!
The least Ebay could do is keep the option between SD and Custom Postage going for another few months to ease out any problems, and there have been quite a few from what I've read on the boards.
It's a shame. I've still got quite a lot of 2 lots of deceased estates to go through, plus my own pending being chucked out of the family home.

I'm still reeling about how disingenuous the buyer fee is being presented and now the cowards send this out on a Monday morning hiding it in small light grey font text?
All I want is to pay private seller fees and send my items by RM large letter or tracked48 as appropriate to their size/value with the occasional oversized item via evi/yodel/dpd - is that too much to ask? It seems to be.
After nearly 25 years of maintaining 100% feedback across thousands of transactions I don't feel ebay is a place for me anymore and I need to ramp up my efforts to disengage with them and do something better with my life. This is probably the nail in the coffin on my buying and selling activity levels here.

So I'm not much of a seller on eBay like some of you guys, just having a clear out as I'm looking to move houses but I'm frankly flabbergasted here. How can it be legal that they enforce which couriers you use. Surely this breaks fair competition laws?
To be honest with you, I'd probably not mind if the enforced courier was better, but Evri? Really? They're bad all year round and really *bleep* the bed at the christmas period. Do eBay want to get a reputation for being the place to go if you want the stuff you buy to be late, lost, thrown on any random doorstep etc?

On the email I received this morning it said sellers have the choice to use qr code or print the label
also home collection (which many people are worried about)

They say it's a shipping solution but the word solution infers there was a problem. I've never encountered a shipping problem.
This is another piece of the jigsaw designed to force private sellers from functioning on their platform.
Well congrats eBay, you win, a buyer I will be but a seller I will not. Plenty of other platforms out there that aren't draconian. I'm not a big seller because it was supposed to be a pleasant hobby for me in my twilight years but they are systematically sucking all the fun out of it.
They took over payments, now you have to wait to get your money. They are charging buyers for buying from private sellers, not content with making billions from sellers they decided on a protection racket forcing buyers to make them more profit and now they are taking over the postage costs. How many £$£$£$ will be enough eBay?
Is there a limit to your greed? Will you ever be happy?

..... a buyer I will .....
I think many will now become only occasional buyers and many others will think "stuff it", eBay's just not worth it.

I have just received a email from Ebay saying Simply Delivery will be the only delivery service for private sellers , but the most interesting part off the email is save 20% on postage . Not sure how that is true when a royal mail tracked 48 is costing me at the moment £3.39 for a 1kg parcel and they are charging £3.79 unable to conbine postage for buyers even the insurance is only £100 when royal mail offer £150 as standard .
31-03-2025 11:04 AM
I already reduced the price of my items because eBay added their bogus buyer protection fee, now they're putting my prices up again by charging the buyer more for postage with Simple Delivery.

It just occurred to me if they are adding SD onto existing listings then many sellers may not have completed the size/weight information in which case what is SD going to assume and who holds liability if that's wrong?
Also am I right in thinking there is no SD equivalent to RM large letter rate? Around half my stuff goes in those little thin boxes so how is that going to work? Particularly if I exclude Evri as they are a pain to get to near me.
31-03-2025 11:15 AM
It's 20% off in relation to the most expensive of their 3 tariff rates.
Cheapest is when sellers leave Evriband Royal Mail as options
2nd is when they deselect Royal Mail which is technically impossible as they are the only courier with full coverage (that's a big hint at the bs they're pulling here)
Most expensive is when you deselect Evri
31-03-2025 11:18 AM
Will many even be a buyer?
Realistically pretty much every item will be coming by Evri. My success rate receiving via Evri is already terrible. Now imagine how many more parcels will be coming by them. More parcels in the van, more parcels clogging up the depots.
The outlook is very grim.
31-03-2025 11:19 AM
I wonder if all the listings will be suspended/hidden, and you'll have to add the info before the listing becomes visible again.
31-03-2025 11:21 AM
What about people who need collection?
Royal Mail is really the only option available to many people since they collect from every doorstep. I know right now you can set selling preferences to Royal Mail only (but who knows how long you'll be able to do that) but what about collection?
31-03-2025 11:27 AM
Same here. The whole thing is an outrage! Those who want to use stamps or write their own labels will be excluded. Those who want an alternative courier to the awful Evri will be excluded. There are already loads of problems occurring with SD, even before it has fully 'taken over'.
With such a wide & complex variety of items available on eBay, postage options should be in the hands of those doing the selling - those who know best what postage methods & pricing to choose for their items.
Simple Delivery offers virtually no flexibility, or opportunity to customise/change things to accommodate a buyer, yet eBay will still have the gall to declare this will 'simplify & enhance our experience'... they really must think we are all Simpletons...!

As annoying and unfair to both buyers and private sellers most of these changes have been over the past year, this is the one that forces me away. If ebay uses their AI slop to guess what my packages size and weight are for my existing listings it will be chaos. Who is going to pay £6 for a large letter because ebay's AI thought it was a big parcel? How will I even know which listings the AI got wrong? What happens if I print out a "ebay's AI guess" label and its not appropriate for the item? Oh I have to pay for a second label. This risk means I could end up having to take a *net loss* to post an item if its of low enough value, which many of mine are. It is clear that ebay wants to get rid of private sellers and/or low value listings, and they are doing a fantastic job, I'm cancelling all my listings on 7th April.
