Ebay confirms when Simple Delivery will be Mandatory

Someone else posted this as a reply to an existing thread but thought I would post it separately.  It appears to be taken from one of ebay's terms and conditions pages but I do not have a link.

Now waiting to hear of somebody taking their old PC tower/modem etc down to the P.O.,asking them to plug it in,waiting 15 minutes for it to warm up & connect to the t'internet etc etc....just to scan a stupid QR code.

Progress folks.

Thank you for the information I changed the price and it allowed me to
choose an oversized parcel and my own courier and free postage I saved it
and went back and changed the selling price and the over sized parcel
stayed but the courier changed and a simple delivery charge was added 🤷
its absolutely crazy if flea bay are assuming that if an item is £800 then
its oversized and then if it's £150 its smaller than 61cm long what planet
are these deluded idiots who thought up this total nonsense from the mind
boggles that people like this really exist

What about this by "3942rick2005", he says you have to follow instructions exactly.

I also find this extremely frustrating.

I have been ignoring the simple delivery option & shipping my items as I did previous using my own choice of courier. However, there is nowhere for me to add the tracking details, so all my orders permanently show 'delivery overdue' even though I have confirmed the were all delivered!

Come on eBay give us back the choice!

if you are a business (and you refer to yourself as a reseller) there is a solution to get that choice.

When I have looked at the basic business seller fees they don't seem unreasonable but I wonder if ebay have confused private sellers into thinking that they are getting ebay for free right now when in reality they are still only getting a proportion of the amount the buyer pays because of the buyer tax.

If a seller is trading and doesn't like SD it would seem a good choice to move to a business account with the added bonus of being complaint to their obligations. I don't see the harm in giving that advice to people who could avoid SD.

dont do that because buyers could say there item hasn't been delivered and
you will find your account will go below standard because officially
nothings been delivered if you want to get round simple delivery and add
your own postage you need set you price at 800 go to the delivery section
and select oversized parcel and use 3 to 5 days courier then add your own
postage then go back to change the price to what you want job done
